I
have been employed by the Durham
District School Board since 1999. During the last 3 years I have been
heading the department
of science of a high school located in the city of Oshawa, called
G.L.
Roberts C.V.I.. I currently teach academic & applied science,
senior biology, and data management. I also direct an after school biotechnology-related
extracurricular club called The
BioTrek Society. My personal career objective is to develop, maintain,
and promote positive attitudes towards science, and life by fostering
effective working and learning environments, and contributing to the development
of others. My educational dogma is one that incorporates effective and
innovative practical teaching methodologies that would complement scientific
theory, and provide enriched learning opportunities through the process
of guided inquiry, and authentic education. Personal research interests
include curriculum development and program implementation strategies in
high school biotechnology, statistics, scientific literacy, and space
science. |
During
the 1994-1998 time period I had the opportunity to conduct clinical research
with the department of laboratory medicine & pathobiology of the University
of Toronto, and the Advanced
Center for Detection of Cancer (ACDC), both of which were/are affiliated
with The Toronto Hospital, and The Mount Sinai Hospital. In 1999 I was
employed by the department of integrative biology research of The Hospital
for Sick Children. My research contribution is primarily focused in the
fields of prostate and breast cancer monitoring, diagnosis and early detection.
In addition, clinical studies were also performed with various protein
markers in prenatal screening, renal function, and neuropathology. To
