| District Editor Manual Sample Kapers 1 Sample Kapers 2 Club Newsletter Template |

| This page is dedicated to the office of Editor. This job is perhaps one of the more interesting of the positions. It is not the most time consuming of the district offices, but it is the one that requires the most specific set of skills to accomplish. Circle Kapers, our long-time district newsletter, is the primary responsibility of the Editor. He/she is charged with the duty of publishing a minimum of four issues. Sounds easy, right? Take a look at the sample issues provided, then judge. The district newsletter is not your typical two-page club newsletter you throw together with mostly your own articles in an hour of so. It requires extensive planning, aggressive seeking of articles, and the ability to manipulate successfully one of the several major computer programs used to design newsletters. It has to be carefully checked and rechecked, every article screened and, you guessed it, edited as necessary. Previous experience in editing a newsletter is extremely recommended, as it will save you a great deal of time if you know how to make even a simple newsletter already. You'll find that, once you get the hang of it, putting together an issue is not really that hard. Its getting the experience that can be trying. I included two past issues, done by two separate editors, as samples, as well as a simple club newsletter template, as you will be expected to council club editors who need help. Additional samples from this year are available on the district website. |
