Edward Tiedeken Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, October 17, 1953 at 2 o'clock at Trinity Lutheran church in Madelia for Edward Tiedeken, brief mention of whose death was made in these columns last week. Rev. Wm. C Miller, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. During the service, Mrs. Irwin Larson sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages". Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery with Mesars. Francis Hannifin, Carl Lindberg, Albert Kizer, Joseph Rusten, C. E. Elbstrom and M. J. Haug serving as casket bearers. Edward Tiedeken, son of Casper and Anna Tiedeken, was born in Butler county, Iowa on November 18, 1887. He came to Minnesota in 1902 and resided on a farm east of Madelia. He was united in marriage at St. James to Anna Ellingsberg on April 13, 1921, and since that time they have resided at their present home on the southeast edge of town, where Mr. Tiedeken did some farming and ran a wrecking yard. Mr. and Mrs. Tiedeken were the parents of two sons, Anton and Melvin of Madelia, who with their mother are left to mourn his passing. Death came suddenly to the deceased at 5:50 Thursday morning, October 15, at the Madelia hospital following a stroke that he suffered at his home the evening before. Also surviving Mr. Tiedeken are two brothers, Conrad Tiedeken of Hanska and Henry Tiedeken of Madelia; a sister, Mrs. George Nicklaus of Parkersburg, Iowa, and three grandsons, Robert, Michael, and Charles Tiedeken. His parents, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death. Those from out-of-town present at the last rites were Mrs. George Nicklaus and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hoffman and daughter, Lisa of Parkersburg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Tiedeken of Hanska, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hohrman of Owatonna; Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wolstad of Minneapolis; Mrs. Casper Tiedeken of Leavenworth, and other relatives and friends from Hanska, LaSalle, Lake Crystal and St. James.
