Nicklaus Buried Tuesday Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. for Bertha Nicklaus, 79, who died Saturday at 3 a.m. at the farm home. She had been in ailing health for some time and last Wednesday Feb. 21, she suffered a stroke from which she did not recover. Services were conducted by the Rev. J. Reents at 1 p.m. at the home and 1:30 at the Lutheran church. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery. Bertha Nicklaus nee Brocka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Brocka was born near Oswego, Ill., Nov. 7, 1865. She came to Iowa with her parents at the age of six months and resided on a farm north of Parkersburg, where she lived until 1894 when she was united in marriage with Peter S. Nicklaus and resided on a farm northwest of Parkersburg. To this union were born 6 children: three sons, August P., William G., and Peter E., all of Parkersburg; four daughters, Mrs. Maulie Peters, Parkersburg; Mrs. Margaret Sinram and Mrs. Mabel Sinram, Clarksville and Mrs. Bertha Sinram of Aredale. Her husband Peter S. Nicklaus as well as one brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Nicklaus was a kind and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend. Her word was good as a bond and she was almays ready to lend a helping hand where needed. She will be greatly missed by all. Besides the immediate family, she is survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Knoche and Mrs. Wm. Dring and three brothers, Herman Brocka, sr.
