Peter Nicklaus, Sr., Buried Saturday Father Klassen Officiated at Last Sad Rites. Peter Nicklaus, Sr., died last Wednesday night at the Waverly hospital where he had been taken about noon Wednesday for treatment. He had been in poor health and under a physicians care for some time, but had seemed improved, and his death came as a great shock to his family and friends. Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Saturday morning in Saint Patrick's church. Rev. L. Klassen officiated at Requem High Mass. Interment was in the Saint Patrick cemetery. Life's History Peter Nicklaus, son of Bolster and Margaret Smith-Nicklaus was born at Scales Mount, Ill., Nov. 4, 1863. He came to Iowa when a young man. In 1894 he was united in marriage with Bertha Brocka. For forty-two years they lived on the home farm northwest of town. By thrift and industry they made a comfortable home for their fine family of seven children, three sons and four daughters who survive with the widow. The children are August P. and William G. near Parkersburg, Margaret and Peter E. at home, Mrs. Claus Peters, Parkersburg, Mrs. Lloyd Sinram, Clarksville, Mrs. Leslie Sinram, Aredale. There are also eleven grandchildren. Mr. Nicklaus was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend. His word was as good as a bond and he was always ready to lend a helping hand where needed. His brother, George Nicklaus, preceded him in death in May. Pall bearers at the funeral Saturday were six nephews, Charles and Henry Cramer, Peter B. and Fred Nicklaus, Ralph and Joe Nicklaus.
