Rewerts of 626 Nash Street, Aplington, Iowa was born the daughter of Peter and Agnes Heger Nicklaus on August 9, 1932, in Parkersburg, Iowa. She was also raised by her step-mother Lula M. Nicklaus. After graduating from Parkersburg High School, she attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa for 2 years. She taught school before she was married. On February 7, 1952, Georgia was united in marriage with Roy Rewerts in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parkersburg, Iowa. They lived in rural Grundy and Butler Counties. Georgia later moved to Aplington following her husbands death. Roy died on March 16, 1990. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a member of the altar society. She enjoyed doing crafts, ceramics, going shopping, traveling, playing games, and especially being with her grandchildren. At 11:05 a.m. Friday, September 15, 1995, Georgia died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa from complications of congestive heart failure. She reached the age of 63 years, 1 month and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rewerts, her parents, an infant sister, and two brothers, Gerard Nicklaus and Romaine Nicklaus. Georgia is survived by her 3 sons, Dale Rewerts, Parkersburg, IA, Douglas Rewerts and his wife Linda, both of Parkersburg, IA and Patrick Rewerts and his wife Tina both of Jacksonville, NC; 4 daughters, Theresa Williams, Kellogg, IA, Lorilei Heidt and her husband Roland both of Dike, IA, Darcy Bertram and her husband Wade both of Aplington, IA and Angela Mattingly and her husband Curtis both of Twenty-nine Palms, CA; 14 grandchildren, one great grandson and one brother Justin Nicklaus, New Hartford, IA. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 1995, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Strecher officiating. Joan Green was the organist and Mrs. Frances Richman sang "On Eagles Wings." The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Casketbearers were Allen Nicklaus, Merle Muller, Mark Rewerts, Benton Peters, Mark Nicklaus and Tim Rewerts. Interment was in the St. Patrick's Cemetry in Parkersburg, IA. Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
