Man Burned Saving Father Parkersburg, Ia., Jan 21. ---(Special.)--- Fire was discovered about 6 o'clock Sunday evening in the Nicholas building, occupied on the lower floor by Henry Hinrichs' barber shop, George Nicholas and his father having living rooms above. the fire started in the upper story, it is thought, from the explosion of a kerosene stove, and was well under way before discovered. George Nicholas had left the building just a short time previous, leaving his father in bed. His efforts to save his father resulted in his being badly burned about the face and hands, and little hope is entertained of his recovery. His father, who is of advanced age, was nearly suffocated, and his condition is very serious. The fire was checked before the building was destroyed, but it will practically have to be rebuilt. This is the fourth bad fire within a few weeks, the previous one being a house owned by Mr. Hansen, and occupied by John Codner, the fire occuring last Saturday morning. The house and contents were completely destroyed. Waterloo Evening Courier, Tues.
