Parkersburg, Iowa Eclipse March 30, 1944 Mrs. P.B. Nicklaus funeral to be held Friday morning Funeral services for Mrs. Peter B. Nicklaus will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Friday morning at 9:30 with a Requiem High Mass. The rosary will be said at the Mrs. George Nicklaus home where the body will lay in state, at 8 o'clock Thursday evening. Mrs. Peter B. Nicklaus died at St. Francis hospital in Waterloo Tuesday forenoon caused by a ruptured appendix and complications. She had underwent an operation for the ruptured appendix on Thursday and gave birth to a girl Friday morning. The baby, christened Mary Margaret, lived only a day. The little one was buried in St. Patrick's cemetery here Monday morning. She leaves her husband, three sons and one daughter to mourn her loss. Obituary will be in next week's Eclipse. She was united in marriage to Peter B. Nicklaus, Feb. 15, 1929 at Mater Dolorosa church in Madelia, Minn., Rev. Father Byron performing the ceremony. Since that time she has made a home for her family in or near Parkersburg, for a number of years living at their farm home. She was loving and painstaking in her work of caring for her family -- her husband and the children: Gerard, 13, Georgia, 11, Romaine 9 and Justin 6. One child Mary Margaret died March 25, 1944 the day after her birth at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, where Mrs. Nicklaus passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 1944. In addition to her husband, she leaves three brothers, Joseph and John Heger of LaSalle, Minn., Ludwig at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and her mother, Mrs. L.K. Heger of Madelia, Minnesota. Mrs. Nicklaus lived a home life to emulate and her death was an edification. Requiem High Mass was sung at St. Patrick's church Friday morning, March 31 by the Rev. Father Cassidy, who also delivered a comforting sermon. Interment was in Saint Patrick's cemetery. I also have a copy from the Parkersburg paper which said exactly the same thing except that they spelled Romaine's name correctly. Edith also underlined Harry Haycraft's name and noted, The Haycraft's: your grandmother later moved to Waseca and lived across from my husband's parents. When my mother-in-law died, Grandpa Luther took Mrs. Haycraft to Madelia several times to visit her husband's grave. She was a beautiful woman and we hoped he would marry her. But some other senile witch moved in with him and caused us lots of trouble.
