Interest And Activity Groups

Community Service

Each month, the Community Service group spotlights a service organization who could use your help. This group works to raise money, food, clothes and more for those who are in need.

Book Discussion Group

Book Discussion Group meets once a month to talk about a pre-selected book, books in general, and anything else that comes up as well (and there's quite a bit of that).

Bunco

Bunco is a very (very!) simple dice game. The Bunco group meets once a month and is always a very fun evening of snacks (don't eat dinner!), conversation, and laughs. No skill or experience is required. Cost for the evening is $5.00 (which you may win back!). New players - we always need several substitute players and there are periodically openings for new regular players.

Supper Club

As most of the event's are primarily attended by women, this group is for couples. The supper club meets once a month usually at a member's home. The member picks the cuisine theme and provides the main dish. The guests bring the side dishes.

Mother / Children's Playgroup

One of our most popular events, the mother's have as much fun as the kids. Come enjoy conversation with other moms. Snacks, a simple craft, and circle time are a fun part of the morning. Cost is $3.00 per family (to cover costs of the room rental) and we meet at Good Shepard Lutheran Church at 2 Colonial Road off Route 37 in New Fairfield.

Littles 'N' Vittles Potluck Luncheon

Each month this group meets for a potluck lunch in a member's home. If you have children, please bring them as the children have a blast playing together. If you don't have children, please come as well if you can take being around quite a few kids! This is a fun way to try new recipes and to talk to other women.

Weekday Wanderer's

This group meets once a month and is basically a field trip for kids (and their mom's!). We try to visit places all over Danbury and New Fairfield, and is a great way to find more about the area.

Men's Night Out

Once a month, this men's group gets together to play poker, shoot some pool, or some other fun activity, usually on a Friday evening. After a long week, your husband would probably enjoy a fun night out with the guys.

Helping Hands

The purpose of the Helping Hands group is to deliver a warm meal and a card to a member in need (i.e. has a new baby, a death in the family, an illness or injury or just needs a helping hand). We also keep track of babies born to members and, at the end of the club year, send a contribution to the library for the purchase of books in those children's names. As the 2003-2004 club year begins, new volunteers are needed to be called upon to deliver a meal to other members, as the need arises. This is a very important component of our Club, especially in light of the fact that so many of us have moved away from our traditional suppport networks.

Arts and Crafts

Once a month, this group meets along with Friends and Photos and Sit, Knit and Stitch as one big group called Creative Corner. We meet once a month during the day at the Good Sheperd Lutheran Church. There's a play space for children, so the tots can play while Mom gets crafty!

Friends and Photos

This group meets once a month to do Scrapbooking. If you have old pictures you would like to put into albums, come join the other women for tips and fun.

Become a Newcomer's Club Board Member

The newcomer's club season runs from Sept. - June (follows the schoolyear season). In May we vote on board members for each position for the following season. There are a few positions for this year that haven't been filled yet, so if this is something you may be interested in, please contact us. The board meetings are once a month at a member's home and we mix a little fun in with the business.
