Sourdough Trail, Front Range, Colorado, 2004

This high altitude trail starts at a forest service parking area just outside of Nedderland at 10,100'. It climbs 1200' over steep, rocky singletrack with lots of switchbacks early on. After doing most of the climb, the trail rolls up and down, adding to the climbing and decents. It stays in the trees, but reaches a top altitude of 11,300'. Because of the long, steep climb, big rocks and high altitude, this is a really challenging trail.

? Riding up the trail on her hard tail. ? and I rode hardtails, they are lighter than full suspension bikes which helped on the climbs, but we took it easy on the decents.

Janet? on her way cool downhill bike. Janet ripped it up on the downhills!

The altitude was getting all of us, so we took a break to catch our breaths and to eat some food.

Left to right: ?, Bruce, Robin, Robert. This is a great group - a mix of equipment, strength and skills, we are all just out to have fun. Those downhill bikes are way cool!!!

?, catching her breath after a big climb.

Derrick (me), I think I was seeing stars at this point!
