Bierstadt with Tyrone on June, 29 2008

Pictures from a hike I did with Tyrone from Guannella Pass to Mt Bierstadt west of Denver, late June, 2008. We hiked it in late June - look at how much snow is still in the high country! We got an early start from Denver - 6:30 am which got us up and back down by around noon, long before the afternoon storms started.

View from Guannella Pass parking lot towards Bierstadt - Bierstadt is the peak on the right. Note it is early morning so we are looking due east towards the sun.

View up the trail from near the beginning. That is Bierstadt in the center with the connecting ridge from the top of Bierstadt to the top of Mt Evans extending to the left. That ridge is well known for some hairy scrambling with big exposure - meaning big drops - on either side. We just did the hike to Bierstadt - that is an easy, safe trail all the way.

Looking up at Mt Evans from the Bierstadt trail.

Looking southwest from near the peak on Mt Bierstadt - that is South Park in the background. Yes, there is an actual place called South Park, it's not just a hilarious cartoon. Remember, always bring a towel!

Looking WSW from the summit - that is the Collegiate Range in the background. Still lots of snow!

That's me with the view looking west towards Guannella Pass road, Mount , Frisco, Vail and the Holy Cross Wilderness on the Horizon.
