The rain came in sheets. It started out pelting the riders with big drops but as they spurred their horses onwards, the heavens opened up and rain poured forth from the sky. The riders cursed as their mounts slipped in the muck and the flashes of lightening and peals of thunder did nothing to allay their mounts fears. But onward they rode into the black night.

Meanwhile, in a tower not far from sea, a worried king paces the floor. His eyes are like steel. His face is grim and worn. A knock comes at the door to the chamber. It's echos fill the hall.

"Enter." The door opens, creaking on it's hinges under the weight of the ancient oak.
A guard clears his throat gruffly.
"The messengers have a arrived, sire."
"Send them in."

The water-stained travellers appear, water running off their hoods and capes, forming in puddles where they walk. They walk briskly towards the king. "My lord, the rumors are true. They pour forth from the North." The king's grim face sets like carved stone.
"Ready the troops."
