Who Is K'?

Characters in the Life of K'

K' is a very interesting character. However, he wouldn't be nearly the man he is without the excellent supporting cast to his epic saga. So, here we'll briefly pay our respects to all of the most relevent characters in the life of K'.

[Kyo Kusanagi]

Kyo Kusanagi
Kyo Kusanagi was the main character of the KoF series up until the arrival of K' in '99. His surname comes from that of a legendary warrior in Japanese mythology. After the conclusion to his own story, Kyo was abducted by NESTS and subjected to brutal experiments. The fruit of these labors is K'. The heir to the ancient and legendary Kusanagi bloodline, Kyo is able to wield the power of flame. His DNA was used in the genetic engineering of K' that gave him his own flame powers. A bitter rivalry began to rise between the two, but they quickly realized that the true enemy was NESTS. Though there is certainly no fondness between the two, they seem to have put an end to their conflict.

[Krizalid]

Krizalid
The final boss of KoF '99, he bares a resemblance to K'. He is the one that revealed to K' that he was a product of human technology. However, the story that he told K' was not the truth. Krizalid believed that K' was a clone of himself. It was not until his death at the hands of his superiors that he learned the truth; that he was a clone of K'. Interestingly, he was even implanted with K's real memories by NESTS, which makes us wonder what sort of person K' was? At any rate, this proved to be a traumatic experience for Krizalid, who in a single moment learned his entire memory and existence was a man-made lie. As he took his dying breaths, NESTS robbed him of even those memories. Truly, one of the most tragic villains of the series.

[Maxima]

Maxima
K's steadfast companion, usually left with the role of mediating between K' and others in response to K's poor people skills. Maxima was K's fellow NESTS agent, and accompanied him on many missions. His body was cybernetically modified by Dr. Makishima, hence his codename of Maxima. However, Maxima is also a term used in calculus, just as K Prime is. Maxima had secretly joined NESTS only for revenge against them for their murder of his old partner. So, when K' learned the truth of his existence and rebelled against NESTS, Maxima was happy to join him. His light-hearted nature makes him the perfect compliment to K', and in many ways, K' owes his life to him.

[Whip]

Whip
Whip is the codename of Muchiko, a member of the Ikari Warriors - an elite military squad lead by Heidern. However, she too was a product of NESTS efforts. In fact, she is a clone of K's deceased sister, Seirah (a mistranslation of Sarah?). It is unclear how affiliated with NESTS she was, or even how aware of her clone status she was, prior to the end of KoF 2000. She despised Krizalid, who possessed her brother's memories, but not his soul. At the conclusion of KoF 2000, she finally met K' and joined his side. Using her data, they were then able to lay assualt to multiple NESTS facilities. She is the only person that is able to be tender towards K' without a harsh response. Since the defeat of NESTS, she has returned to her duties as an Ikari Warrior, though she keeps in constant contact with K'. She has also taken to considering Kula her little sister.

[Kula Diamond]

Kula Diamond
The Anti-K'. In response to K's rebellion against NESTS, this innocent girl was designed to be his antithesis, possessing powers of ice to rival his flames. Her innocence shows through in all ways. She is simply a little girl at heart, unaware of the ways of the world, and able to kill without ever realizing the wrong in it. However, as her closest friend, a robot named Candy, died saving Kula in 2000, Kula's eyes began to open. In the end, she realized the truth of NESTS and saved K's life. Afterwards, he and Whip took it upon themselves to help her find her way in life. Diana, a former NESTS agent, plays the role of Kula's mother.

[K9999]

K9999
K9999 is the end result of NESTS countless experiments in genetic engineering. The final clone off the assembly line. His power is exceeded only by his ego. All things on this planet are nothing in his eyes. He is the ultimate being. However, to prove this once and for all, he must destroy K'. Bloodthirsty, relentless, and hardly even able to control his own power, he's one of the most dangerous beings alive. His design is also an homage to a certain character in the famous Japanese anime, Akira.

[Igniz]

Igniz
The CEO of NESTS, responsible for stealing the lives of K' and countless others. Using NESTS, he hoped to gather all the genetic data necessary to unlock the key to surpassing humanity and evolving into a god. He practiced this theory on himself, engineering his body into a work of genetic art. Yet, even with this "perfect" body, he was defeated by K' and his allies. Unable to bear this humiliation, Igniz destroyed himself along with the entire NESTS HQ, in hopes of destroying all else with it.
