Minako ti Rashaad's Letters From Home

****

"For you," the novice said, bobbing a curtsy before she noticed Minako's dress held no bands,
either. Minako grinned, and curtsied back. The novice giggled, and walked on, passing out letters.

Minako tore open the letter and began to devour the words.

Minako dear,

We miss you terribly, especially in these last weeks. I am afraid that our first letter bears sad
news; raids along the border have taken 2 of our farms, and Mikel is hurt. It could have been
life-threatening, but he is recovering well. Beyond that, I can say nothing but how lonely the house
seems without our girl, and to express my (and your mother's) hope that you are well on your way
to being Aes Sedai, and returning to us with honor.

Papa

Here, a letter from Papa became a letter from Mikel.

Mina,

Stop worrying. I know you are; I read the letter Papa wrote. It's not nearly so bad as he makes it
out to be. You just learn all you can, become and Aes Sedai, and come back to slaughter Trollocs
with the Power! Minako ti Rashaad Aes Sedai! The Reclaimer of the Blight! It'll be great!

Mikel

Minako grinned through her worries. If he was well enough to write her a "don't worry" letter, then
she wasn't going to worry. She tucked the letter into her pocket, and wandered off down the hall,
reading A Novice's Handbook of the White Tower.
