My favorite character would have to be Matrim Couthon. Mainly 'cause of his attitude towards things. Since the begining of the books Mat has been there so you really get to know alot about him, and the way he thinks about everything. I think the way he thinks towards people really helped me understand him more than what most people do. I mean look at Perrin he's been there since the beginning of the book, but too many people think like him always trying to do whats needed, and not really doing what he wants done. though things change in that area.
Mat also thinks much like myself, he's a mischeviouse little Bas%^@# who's ganna do what he wants no matter how much you bully him. And things like that are what sets him apart from all other characters you meet along the way. Plus he's more of a leader than Perrin and Rand, Sure they get alot of practice, but mats surly a leader at heart.
The only thing I disaprove with is the amount of people his bed has held. But I guess thats just some kind of thing that comes along with looks.
There are more things than just his attitude that makes him cool to me, I also think that the way he's always trying to get away from everyone, and the fact that he's some what peranoid. I think why he's like that is 'cause Jordan wants more than just his attitude to set him apart. Rand, now he's peranoid, always wonder which person is going to try to kill him next, or when he's going to go mad.
Another thing about Mat is what "Special" things he has. Like the memories of all the different people of Menetheren and his luck, that just makes his role alot more complicated. Sometimes complication makes the character more "interesting" along with "confusing", but things like that are cool, to me any way.
Also the fact that in the last battle he's second most important next to the dragon, 'cause as long as he's alive no one can blow the horn of Valere. Plus his future is so mixed up ther are so many thing that got to happpen that Jordan can't finish the books at ten.
Rand has lots of "interesting" things about him but I dont think they mount up to Mat though. Mat goes through alot of stuff just through first four books: HE choked to death, from the stone door. He was really messed up from the dager from Shadar Logoth, finds out that he's got some other peoples memory in his head, and the luck which has got him in trouble more than a few times.
Mats character is so much more unique than Rands or Perrin. So as you can see there are many reasons for me liking Mat, as I'm sure there are many reasons for other likeing who they do. That is all.
