Summery: Carter has escaped from prison.

Prison

Mark sat with his son next to him as Carter Sweeny was escorted into the interrogation area. The prisoner laughed softly as he first eyed the two men, "well...well...well long time no visit Gentlemen."

Steve stared at Carter, "this is not a social call Sweeny."

"Oh what a pity," Carter said as he was guided to his seat.

Mark waited no longer and got straight to the point, "what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Just been thinking about our old times together Sloan...it has been awhile since the last time that we met and wanted to chat a little," Carter told Mark smiling.

Steve went closer to Sweeny's side, "yeah right...just get to the point."

"What? You don't trust me Steve?"

"Not in the least. I know that you're up to something and I aim to find out what that is," Steve leaned closer to Sweeny and looked him dead in the eyes, "what ever you have on your mind won't work."

Laughing as he glanced from Mark to Steve he whispered so only Steve could here, "oh it already did."

Steve kelp his eyes focused on the man before him, "what is that supposed to mean?"

"Oh just that I got your father here to talk to me and if you don't mind I want to talk to him alone," Carter told him.

"No way," Steve backed away as he looked from Carter to his father.

Mark studied the mans face, "Steve it's alright...I want to see him alone and see what he wants."

Steve looked at his father with wide eyes, "Dad?"

"I'll be fine trust me...and besides what can he do with a guard in the room?" Mark asked.

"With him you never know," Steve pointed out.

Carter cleared his throat, "well, I can see that you think you know me well, but I assure you that I'm a model inmate in here."

Steve looked up to the heavens and shook his head, "stay out of this."

"Since you are trying to talk about me like I'm not here I can't see how I'm to do that," Carter pointed out.

"Steve I want to talk to him alone," Mark told his son then smiled at him assuring Steve that all was fine.

"Alright, you win, but I'm not going to be far. So if you need me just say the word and the guard can come get me." Steve then watched his father give him a nod and he headed out of the room reluctantly giving his father time to talk to Sweeny alone.

After the door closed behind his son Mark turned to Carter, "what do you really want?"

Carter smiled as he whispered, "I've read that Bob's was reopened after the explosions that happened a few months ago."

Mark raised his eyebrow and looked at the man, "what do you know about it?"

"Just what I read in the papers," Carter started as he whispered even more, "it was a shame that all that happened. I also read that Travis was to be married. It's a shame that the young lady was killed."

"Why did you want me to visit here?" Mark asked as he started to get angry at the man.

"Just to let you know that I've heard about all the bad things that have happened over the past few months," he explained.

"Yes, but the question is what do you have to do with those things?" Mark asked.

"Me? Nothing like I said I read them in the papers. I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and your friends."

"I'm sure that you are," Mark retorted.

"You are starting to sound like that son of yours."

"Well Steve right most of the time."

Mark stood then looked over at Sweeny, "if there isn't anything else that you want to talk about then I should be going."

Sweeny smiled, "no that should about do it."

Mark studied the man once more before heading to the door. He could for the life of him figure out what this visit was so important to Carter.

As the guard went to Carter, he noticed that Sweeny was looking a little pale, "what wrong?" the guard asked.

Mark turned around and watched Carter clump over the table. The doctor rushed to the man's side and felt for a pulse and found none. He looked over at the doctor with shock written on his face, "he's dead."

Late Afternoon, Community General Doctor's Lounge

Amanda walked into the lounge where Mark and Jesse was seated after seeing to patients from a three car pile up. "I thought that I might catch you two here."

Jesse looked up from his coffee, "are you finished with Sweeny's autopsy?"

She nodded, "I'm finished, and whoever that was wasn't Carter Sweeny."

Mark looked up as he heard the words, "are you sure?"

Handing the report that she carried to Mark she let him open it before she started, "this man had his appendix taken out about three months ago...I checked with the prison. Sweeny didn't have any problem with his heath and hasn't had any operation."

"So the question is where is Carter Sweeny?" Mark said looking up from the report.

"That is what I intent to find out," Steve said as he entered the room.

"I was trying to figure out the reason for me to come to the prison," Mark said thinking out loud.

"Why does Sweeny do anything," Jesse pointed out. "Everything is a game to him."

"I know," Amanda said taking a seat.

"No matter what kind of game the man is playing, he's not going to be a free man for long," Steve started as he headed for the coffee pot.

Same Time, Beach House

The front door opened and a man dressed in black entered. He looked around the house and smiles when he found that he was alone. Taking off his ski mask Carter Sweeny walked in every room of the house and studied how the two Sloan men lived.

As he approached Mark's bedroom he placed a white envelope the doctor's pillow.

He was pleased with himself and he headed for the living room again and opened the door to leave the house.

Later, BBQ Bob's

Jesse walked through the door after a long day at the hospital to find that two of the waitress were out sick, "great," he thought as he studied the room as even more people entered the room.

He smiled as he headed to the phone and started to dial.

"Alex Martin."

Jesse smile widened as he heard his friends voice, "hey Buddy...its Jesse."

"Hey Jess," the doctor said cheerfully.

"I need a big favor from you," Jesse said bluntly.

"What's up?"

If it was possible Jesse's grin widened even more, "we need someone to come in and help me close Bob's tonight."

There was a silence on the other end and Jesse started to get worried, "Alex?"

A chuckle came over the phone as Alex started to speak, "sure thing...just wanted to make you scrum a little."

Later, Beach House

Mark watched as the credits started to show at the end of his movie and grabbed the remote.

"Well, that was a good movie," he said as he looked over to where his son sat the chair across from him sleeping.

Shaking his head Mark stood and headed over to his son and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Son, it's time to head to bed."

Sleepily Steve's eyes opened and he looked up at his dad, is the movie over?"

Mark chuckled, "yes...go on
down to your room and get to bed."

"I'm a little old to be sent to my room," he said getting to his feet.

"Not at all, you'll never be to old for me to send to bed...after falling asleep watching a good movie," Mark watched as his son headed sleepily out of the room.

Shaking his head he headed for his own bedroom and closed the door behind him. He never looked back as he headed for his room and got in his PJ's and went straight to his bed.

As he looked at his pillow he noticed the envelope and looked around before picking it up and opening it. His eyes went wide and couldn't believe what he was reading.

Mark,

Nice of you to come visit me today. To bad that you never caught on that it wasn't really me that you were talking to. My guess is that you have figured that out by now so I will just say a final goodbye and best wishes for the days that will come.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot as the clock strikes 11 there will be and explosion at BBQ's and anyone there will be dead before they know what hit them.

C. Sweeny

Mark looked at the watch on his wrist and picked up his phone and started dialing. He was worried sick as he noted that it was 10:58.

"BBQ Bob's," the cheery voice of Jesse Travis came on the line.

"Jesse, listen to me you have to..."

Jesse heard the panic and his friends voice and stopped him, "what's wrong?"

"There is a bomb in Bob's and you have got 6to get everyone out of there...there is only a minute left before it goes off," the old man told his friend.

"Got it," Jesse said as he dropped the phone and started calling for everyone to get out.

He was glad that it was closing time and there was only two customers in there, but as he notice everyone leave he raised for the door.

After a minute and nothing happened Jesse heard his cell phone starting to ring.

"Jesse Travis," he said as he watched from across the road hoping that it was Mark calling saying that his was wrong.

"Well, if it isn't Doctor Travis," Sweeny's voice said over the line.

Jesse went pale as he still watched Bob's from across the street, "what do you want Sweeny."

"I was beginning to think that Mark wasn't going to find my little letter," Sweeny laughed. "Oh well, it doesn't matter now. I can see that you and everyone could get out safely before..."

"Before what?" Jesse asked.

"Before your favorite eating place blew up of course," the mad man teased. "Oh don't worry, you and everyone around you are safe...there is no bombs in there, you are lucky this time."

Jesse heard the sirens blaring in the distance, "where are you?" Jesse asked his temper getting the better of him.

"Do you really think that I'm going to tell you that?" Carter laughed.

As Jesse saw Cheryl get out of her car and head to his side he pointed to the phone and mouthed, "Sweeny."

She shook her head and pulled out her cell phone to get a trace started on Jesse's phone.

Carter laughed again, "Tell her it's a waist of time," Carter said before the line went dead.

Jesse looked up at Cheryl, "he can see us."

Cheryl watched as a the fire truck pulled in front of Bob's and she started looking around looking for any sign of Sweeny, but there was none.

Twenty Minutes Later, Steve's Car

Mark watched as his son drove madly toward Bob's and both he and his son mind was on their friend, customers and workers that were at Bob's.

"I can't believe..." Steve started to say as his phone started to ring.

"Sloan."

"Steve, looks like a false alarm," Cheryl told her partner.

"You sure?" Steve asked.

"Not a hundred percent positive, the Bomb Squad is still checking the place over. Sweeny called Jesse pretty much telling him that it was," he explained.

"We are ten minutes away...I'll see you in a few minutes," Steve told her as he put his phone away and glanced over at his father.

"What is it," Mark asked.

"Looks like this was one of Sweeny's games," Steve said angrily.

Mark shook his head, "is there no end to what that man is capable of?"

"No the man has no heart," Steve retorted.

"Oh he has one, but it is full have hate," Mark pointed out to his son.

A few minute later father and son was at Bob's and heading over to Cheryl, "what do you know?" Steve asked.

"The Bomb Squad is still in there, but so far they've turned up nothing."

Mark looked around and sought out Jesse as his son talked to his partner, knowing that he would be told everything later, but for right now he wanted to see how his friend was.

He located Jesse standing next to Alex talking to a officer, "Hey Jess."

Jesse turned around to see his friend standing there, "Mark...thanks for the call."

"I just wish that there was something more than I could have done at the moment that was going on," Mark said as he looked at Alex.

"Hey Alex."

"Mark," Alex said as he turned to his friend.

Just then three men from the Bomb Squad came out of the building, "there is no sign of any kind of explosives in there."

Steve and Cheryl came to the man's side, "can we go in there now?" Steve asked.

"I don't see why not," the man said heading over to put his equipment away.

Steve and Cheryl waited twenty minutes more before they entered and started making there own little search.

After a few minutes Mark glanced over at Jesse and smiles, "we are co owners are we not?"

Jesse nodded, "let's get in there."

The two men headed into the restaurant and the first person that they found was Steve, "what are you two doing in here"

"Just checking on things," Jesse told his friend.

"Well, I was about to come get you anyway...there was a note sitting on the bar just waiting for us," Steve told his father as he handed a evidence bag to his father.

Mark started reading the letter through the bag, "he must have been in here as the building was being cleared out," Mark said as he started to read the letter out loud.

Sloan,

I had to play one last game with you. What can I say, you are a challenge. I've enjoyed this, but it is time for me to leave. I wish I could say that this is bye forever, but you know that, that's not true.

Till next time,

C, Sweeny

"So we were right this was just a game," Jesse said shaking his head in disbelief.

Rent a Car

Carter smiles as he drove down the road, "Until next time.
