Gage looked into the review mirror and looked at Jesse was in the back seat not moving.

"What happened back there?" Alden asked Gage.

"How am I supposed to know," Gage retorted as he glanced over at him.

"You are the one that had to go pick up your money, so is someone after you?"

"I was a Ranger you know, there are probably a lot of people that I put away that could be after me," Gage stated, "and who's not to say that they weren't after you."

"Me, they were shooting at you, not me." He then looked toward the back seat, "you think that he's going to be alright?"

'I hope so,' Gage thought to himself.

Alden then looked over at Gage again, "who was that was coming to meet you?"

Gage noticed the look in Alden's eye and wonder what he was thinking, "Aaron Tristan's, why?"

"Oh, nothing really, he just looks like someone that I've seen before."

"Oh really," Gage said as he looked into the review mirror again, "so where to?"

"We are going to see one of my bosses."

****

Walker opened his eyes and shook his head trying to stop the ringing that he was hearing, "everyone alright?"

Sydney got up from the ground asking, "Where's Gage and Doctor Travis?"

Steve and Ron came out of the warehouse and saw that the building beside them was in flames, "they took off."

Cheryl already had her cell phone out calling for an ambulance and the fire department.

"Walker," Trivette was shouting.

Walker turned to see Trivette kneeling beside his brother. Walker was quick to get to his partner's side, "How is he?"

Trivette had tears in his eyes, "he's loosing a lot of blood."

Cheryl headed to their side, "an ambulance is on its way.

Sydney was going to their side when she stopped noticing a glair from across the street on top of the building, "I'm going to check that out," she told Steve.

"Wait a minute I'm coming with you," he said following the young ranger.

They headed across the street both with their guns drawn. Steve was only a step behind Sydney as a shot was fired at them. Steve saw the shooter above them on the stairs of the building.

Sydney looked up just in time to see the man take off running up the steps. Both she and Steve headed up the stairs cautiously and soon saw the man go out on the roof. They were at the door of the roof and Sydney let Steve pass her as she had her gun pointed at the door ready for what ever might come their way. With one hard kick Steve kicked the door open and quickly moved back when he saw the man aiming his rifle at him. There were two shots that were aimed at the door and both Sydney and Steve got ready to go onto the roof.

Steve checked the door again and peeked out side to find that he could see no one. Soon both he and Sydney were on the roof walking carefully as they went, "see anything?" Sydney asked.

"Not a thing," Steve said as he heard something from behind him and turned quick to find that a man had his gun aimed at Sydney, "watch out," he shouted to her as he took aim at the same time that the man fired.

Sydney had moved out of the way of the bullet and was unharmed. She looked over at Steve who was by the man's side on the ground and watched as he held his leg as pain shot through it, "how is he?"

"He'll be fine for us to question," Steve said bringing him to his feet.

****

Gage turned into a long driveway that lead to an enormous house, "wow."

"Well, the owner is going to help us get back to Dallas," Alden assured him.

"Dallas?" Gage questioned him.

"Yeah that is where I live," he looked over at Gage and noticed that he was surprised, "hey, don't sweat it my boss will watch your back."

"No way am I going back to Dallas. I shot and killed Walker, every cop and Ranger in Texas will be looking for me."

"Look my boss is going to watch your back," Alden tried to assure Gage.

"No deal, the only place that I am going is out of the country."

"What about Mexico? My boss has a big organization there and will set you up," Alden pointed for Gage to pull over.

"I can't go back to Dallas my old lady is there and she is a Ranger. All I want to do is get rid of her," he said as he saw three men come toward the car.

"Hey, no worries," Alden said getting out of the car.

"Yeah right," Gage mumbled as he opened the door to get out of the car.

"Get the guy in the back seat into one of the rooms and set up Gage in a room next to his," Alden ordered.

"Yes sir," one of the men said as he and one of his buddies went to get Jesse out of the car.

"I want to be placed in the same room as Travis, he is going to need my help to get the bullet out," Gage firmly said.

"Ok, if that is what you want."

"It is," Gage told him, "I'm going to need a few things to help remove the bullet."

Alden looked over at the remaining man, "get him what ever he needs."

"Yes Sir," with that the man motioned for Gage to follow him.

Gage stopped, "wait, I have to get Travis's medical bag," he told the man as he headed to the car and retrieved it.

****

Jesse started to wake when he heard voices in the room with him.

Gage came into the room followed by the same man from outside. He was carrying a tray, "thanks," Gage said as the man laid the tray of supplies down.

"No problem and good luck," the man said as he raced out of the room.

Jesse looked up at Gage as he picked up a knife, "what are you going to do with that?"

"Well we've got to get that bullet out of your shoulder," Gage told him with a smile on his face.

"Oh no you don't," Jesse cried out, "what do you know about taking bullets out of someone?"

"Look I can do this and besides you are loosing a lot of blood," he pointed out.

"And when you are finished with that...that butcher's knife I will be dead from blood loss, I don't think so."

Gage laughed to himself as he came to Jesse's side still holding the knife, "hey, I've done this before."

"Yeah, but the question is, is the person still living?"

"Just lay back and I will take care of this," Gage assured him.

"Alright but if I die from this I am going to come back and haunt you," he joked as he rested against the bed.

"Deal." Gage said as he looked at Jesse's shoulder, "ready?"

"No, but go ahead."

As Gage came closer to Jesse with the knife he closed his eyes as he thought, 'great I might as well have Steve operating on me.'

Gage started the process of removing the bullet as Jesse gritted his teeth trying not to scream as the pain shot though his shoulder, "hey, be gentle will ya."

"It's almost out," Gage assured him.

After what seemed like forever to Jesse Gage pulled the bullet out of Jesse's shoulder and placed it in the tray.

"Thank God that is over," Jesse exclaimed.

Gage noted how pale the young doctors face was, "do you think that you're going to be alright?"

Jesse nodded as he noticed that his medical bag was in the room, "can you hand me my bag?"

"Sure," Gage went to fetch the bag for Jesse.

Jesse pulled out something to take for the pain, "here we go."

Gage looked at the medication, "what's that?"

"Something for the pain," Jesse informed him as he asked for a glass of water.

"You can't take that," Gage told him as he took the pills from Jesse's hand.

"What do you think that you are doing?" Jesse said as the anger was rising in him.

"Look we have to be ready for anything. I don't like us being here," Gage confessed as he sat on the edge of the bed, "we maybe in trouble."

"What do you mean, in trouble?"

"They are planning to take me to Dallas," Gage told him new friend.

"What about me?" Jesse asked the nervousness that he was feeling coming out in his voice.

"I don't know."

****

Steve and Sydney entered the interrogation room that the man they arrested was seated in, "Thompson, you are in a lot of trouble." Steve asked.

"So what else is new," he said sarcastically.

"Who sent you to the warehouse?" Sydney asked as she got into Thompson's face.

"I'm not saying a word," he said staring right at Sydney.

"Then it looks like you are taking the fall for this," Steve told him as he came to Sydney's side.

"I'm not worried about it, I'll get out of this," Thompson retorted.

"Why are you willing to take the fall for this?" Sydney asked.

"It's part of the job and besides my job will be finished soon," he assured Sydney.

"What are you talking about?" Sydney asked.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" He said smugly.

Sydney came into his face, "look..."

Steve noticed that Sydney was getting angrier by the minute, "will you give us a minute?"

They headed out into the hallway as Sydney turned to look at Steve, "what do you think that you're doing?"

"Look you are too attached to this, maybe I should continue this without you," Steve told her.

"What? I can't believe that you just said that. I mean we are supposed to be working together on this." Sydney knew that he was right but still she had to know if Gage was in any danger.

"Let's do this the right way," he said as he looked down at the young ranger.

"At least let me go in with you," she said pleadingly.

"Alright, but let me do the questioning," he said before opening the door back up.

"Thompson, what were you talking about earlier?" Steve asked.

"I'm not saying a word," he told him.

"Look you don't have to talk the fall for this; we can help you if you let us."

"If I say anything to you I'm dead," Thompson to told Steve in no certain terms.

"If you don't tell us we will put out the word that you did and you are going to be dead anyway," Sydney chimed in.

Steve looked over at Sydney wanting so desperately to laugh, "so what is it going to be?"

"You can't do that," Thompson pointed out.

"Try us," Sydney said as she turned away from him.

"Alright," he said quietly.

"So what did you mean?" Steve asked.

"Look if that Ranger got past me they plan to kill him later," he said as he looked at Sydney's Ranger's badge.

"What do they have planned for him?" Sydney asked hiding all emotion, saving Gage the only thing on her mind.

"They know that Alden would head to Allen's house and he'll have the Ranger with him so they plan to kill him and maybe the other guy if they have to."

All the color drained from Sydney's face, "I'll get on the phone to Walker and Wagner and tell them that we're on our way.

Sydney waited impatiently on the phone waiting for Walker to answer his cell phone. She waited until the voice mail came on and hung up before she called the number of Ron Wagner.

"Wagner."

"Agent Wagner, Sloan and I are on our way and it looks like Gage and Travis are in trouble."

"What kind of trouble?" Ron asked.

"Gage's cover has been blown and we have to get them out of there now," she told him as she saw Steve heading toward her.

"Alright, we will see you in a few minutes and I am calling for back up too," Ron insisted.

"Good, we will be there in no time," she told him as she hung up the phone.

Ron looked over at Walker who was still on the phone, then he turned to Cheryl, "Steve and Cooke are on there way."

"What's wrong?" Cheryl asked.

"They're in trouble and we are waiting for back up to go in to get Ranger Gage and Jesse out of there," he said as Walker hung up the phone.

"What was that about trouble?" Walker asked.

"I was just telling Cheryl here that we have to wait for back up to get your Ranger and Travis out of there."

"That was Trivette; he said that Simon is going to be alright and that Mark is taking care of him." Walker informed Ron.

****

Anthony Allen looked over at Frank, "go get Travis and take care of him. I'm taking Ranger Gage to meet the boss in Mexico."

"Yes Sir," Frank said as he left the room.

Frank got to the room that Gage and Jesse were in and opened the door.

Gage turned around to see who was there and stared at Frank for a minute, "what are you doing here Michaels?"

Frank just smiled at Gage as Jesse looked from one man to the other trying to figure out what was going on.

Gage finally broke the silence, "I thought that you were going to straighten up after the last time that I saw you?"

"We'll it is a good thing that I didn't. I was sent up here to kill your friend here," he said pointing at Jesse.

Jesse's eyes got as wide as silver dollars, "hey wait a minute."

"Don't worry," Frank pointed out, "I'm not going to kill you, but I am going to make it look like you are dead."

Gage smiled, "thank you."

"Look, I can get him out of this but you're another story."

"What are they planning? Gage asked.

"They plan to take you to Mexico to the boss," Frank said looking over his shoulder, "we have to get going."

Gage looked at Jesse, "you can trust him. He was an informant of mine and has helped the Rangers solve a lot of cases."

Jesse shook his head, "I can't just leave you."

"Jesse look you have to take this chance," Gage pointed out, "I'll be fine."

"Alright, but I'm going to send back help for you," Jesse said as he left the room with Frank.

"Deal," Gage watched them leave and then headed to the door to see if there was anyway for him to get out. He looked out of the room to find that there were several guards posted there, "great."

****

Steve and Sydney opened the door of the van and were greeted by Cheryl, "hey, partner. You two ready?"

Sydney answered for him, "yeah so let's go."

Walker noticed the worry on Sydney face and came to her side, "are you up for this Sydney?"

"Walker this is Gage we are talking about we have to get him and Travis out," she pointed out as she tried to hide the worry in her voice.

Sydney heard the sound of a helicopter in the distance, "is that what I think it is?"

"Chopper," Walker said as he looked at the driveway heading to the house.

****

Gage watched as Alden and another man entered the room, "long time no see."

Alden pointed his gun at Gage, "it seems that you have been playing me for a fool."

Gage just smiled, "well it didn't take much."

Heading over to Gage with his gun still aimed at him Alden and his friend stopped as the came to the Ranger's side, "I can see that you have a smart mouth." He waited till his friend walked behind Gage and then he nodded to his goon and soon the man pulled his gun up and brought it down hard against Gage's head sending him to the floor, "Get him to the chopper."

****

Frank headed to his car with his gun at Jesse's back, "move it," he ordered hoping that no one would know that this was a show.

"Hold it right there," Allen ordered.

Frank swallowed hard as he turned around to face his boss, "Yes, Sir?"

"It seems that you are trying to help this doctor here instead of following my orders," Allen said coldly.

"Sir, I don't know..." he stopped talking as Allen pressed play on the small tape player that he was holding which was the discussion that Frank and Gage had earlier.

"Oh, but I think you do," Allen retorted.

Jesse eyes grew large worried about what was going to happen next. He jumped as he heard a shot rang out and Frank fell to the ground.

"Cops are here," one of his men called out loudly.

Frank turned his attention to Jesse and with one shot the young doctor was on the ground.

Turning to his man he stated, "I'm going to the chopper with our prisoner. You guys take care of the cops."

****

Steve and Walker was the first to come into the driveway and were met by several shots being fired at them. Steve looked across the driveway and saw Jesse's body laying there bleeding, "Jesse," was all he got out before Ron, Sydney and Cheryl came to his side.

Steve looked at his partner, "cover me I'm going to get Jesse out of there."

Cheryl watched her partner as he moved quickly across the parking lot to his young friend. Soon shots were being fired at Steve and Cheryl was quick to take out the men that were firing the shots.

Sydney watched as Steve got Jesse behind the car when she noticed that Frank Michael's was the body that was next to where Jesse had laid just seconds before, "Michael's?"

Walker looked at Sydney and knew what she was thinking, "Sydney watch my back, I'm going after Michael's."

Sydney nodded and she watched as Walker took off to help the informant that they had used so many times. Walker was quick to get Michael's behind a car as both Sydney and Ron watched his back.

Walker then watched as a chopper was starting to take off and looked down at Frank, "where are they going?"

Frank looked up at Walker shocked to see him, "Walker?"

"Come on Michael's think, where are they going?" Walker asked trying to get the answer out of him.

"Martin's Field," there have a plane there that they are taking to Mexico...and Walker Gage is with them. You need to find them quick they are going to kill him."

"We'll find them," Walker promised as he called over to Ron," can you and your men take care of this?"

"Yeah," Ron said as a bullet passed by him.

Steve got Cheryl's attention, "you stay with Jesse till he gets to the hospital, I'm going with them."

"Don't worry I'm going to be with him," she assured her partner.

As Steve, Walker and Sydney too off to Margin's field Frank got Cheryl's attention, "listen...all...proof...you need...at...bus station...locker number 235..." His eyes then rolled back as his head fell to the side she knew that he was dead.

****

Steve broke every speed limit there was and got to Margin's field in record time. He came to a stop as the three officers headed to where a plane was being gassed up.

Steve and Sydney headed in one direction as Walker went in another both heading to the plane.

Sydney and Steve looked into a window of one of the hangers and saw the chopper that Allen had left in there, "do you see Gage?" Sydney asked Steve as she continued to look around.

"No," Steve never heard the man that snuck up behind him, "put your gun down and start moving," the man ordered.

Sydney heard the voice and turned to see the gun that was shoved into Steve's back.

"That goes for you too, unless you want to see your friend here die."

Sydney slowly put down her gun as she looked at Steve, "now what?"

"You start moving in to the hanger nice and slow."

Sydney stopped in her tracks when she saw the plane start rolling, "where's Ranger Gage?"

"Oh, you will never have to worry about him again," the man joked.

Sydney felt he heart drop as she turned fast taking the man off guard. He looked up at her and smiled, "you are playing with the wrong guy little lady."

Sydney met his comment with a spin kick to the side of the head knocking him to the ground unconscious, "oh really."

Steve looked at the young Ranger and smiled, "nice work."

****

Allen looked across at Gage who was still unconscious, "soon you are going to wish that you never got involved in this."

The sound of a gun cocking got Allen's attention, "I think that you had better get this plane back on the ground."

Allen slowly looked up at the face of Cordell Walker, "I see that you are hard to kill."

Walker threw a pair of cuffs down at Allen," put one on your wrist and the other, attach it to the arm of your chair."

After making sure that Allen was secure Walker headed toward the cockpit and was quick to have the plane turned around and head back to the ground.

When they got back down, there were police officers there that had already taken several of Allen's men into custody.

Sydney headed to the plane and as soon as the doors were open she was on it going to her husband's side. She gently taped his face, "come on Francis wake up."

Gage started to stir.

"That's it partner," she said happily as his eyes opened, "welcome back."

"Syd..."

Sydney brought her hand to his lips, "shh you need to rest."

"He nodded as he looked at his wife.

Walker and Steve came to their side, "an ambulance is on its way," Steve told her as he got Allen and headed out of the plane.

****

Later At Community General

Gage looked at Mark as he was trying to sit up, "look Doctor Sloan I'm fine."

Mark watched as he closed his eyes tightly, "I can see that."

"I'm fine," Gage ensured Mark, "how's Jesse?"

"He's going to be fine he was shot once in the shoulder, but I hear that you took care of."

Gage smiled at him, "yeah but not by him want me to."

Mark couldn't help but laugh, "so I've heard."

"So I heard that he was shot again?" Gage asked still worried about the young doctor.

"Yes he was, in the right side."

"So can I see him?" Gage asked.

"Sure, as soon as I get finished checking you first."

"Thanks."

****

Amanda sat in the chair next to Jesse's hospital bed and watched him sleep as she did so she found herself starting to doze off.

A knock on the door woke her in a hurry. She looked over at the door as Steve peeked in, "hey Amanda how is he doing?"

She stood as he entered the room and stretched, "he's going to be fine."

"Good," he said as he sighed.

"Is the case over?"

"Well the FBI arrested Roseria a few minutes ago in Dallas but Alberto got away."

Steve turned when he heard a knock on the door again and smiled when Sydney peeked in, "may we come in?"

"Sure come on in," Steve said as Sydney and Gage came into the room."

Gage looked over at Jesse sleeping, "how is he?"

"Fine," Amanda assured him.

"I'm awake," Jesse said as he opened his eyes.

"Hey there," Amanda said as she took his hand.

Jesse looked over at Sydney not knowing who she was.

Sydney introduced herself as she noticed the look that the young man had shot her, "I'm Sydney Cooke, Gage's wife."

Jesse looked over at Gage and half smiled, "you know she doesn't look like a OLD LADY at all and with a wife like her why would you want to get rid of her?"

Gage face turned three shades of red and watched Sydney turned to face him, "old lady that you want to get rid of?"

"Uh, Syd you know that I didn't mean that," he said in his defense.

"Oh really, what was it that you meant by it?" Sydney asked as she playfully hit Gage in the arm.

"I was trying to make it really sound as if I turned into a bad cop and well...," he looked over at Jesse, "I thought that you were asleep when I said that?"

Jesse couldn't help but laugh, "hey, I never said that I was asleep."

Steve cleared his throat as he looked over at Amanda, "I think that I need to get a little air."

"Me too," Amanda said as she and Steve walked out of the room and headed to the doctor's lounge where Walker and Mark sat.

"What are you two talking about?" Steve asked.

"Frank Michael's, the proof that he told Cheryl about is enough to put Allen, Roseroa and Alberto away for a long time," Mark informed his son.

"So I've heard," Steve said as he and Amanda took a seat at the table.

"So, Walker, how long can you guys stay? Now that you can relax, you can see more of LA."

"That sounds nice but we have to head back tomorrow."

"Then you guys can have dinner at the beach house tonight," Mark said.

"We wouldn't want to put you out any."

"Your not..." Mark started to say when Steve interrupted him.

"...besides Amanda and Jesse come by all the time and we would love to have you guys over."

"I can't speak for everyone but I think that it sounds nice," Walker agreed.

****

Steve entered the beach house and watched his father look toward him from the kitchen door, "Hey everyone."

Mark stepped out of the kitchen, "how was Jesse?"

"Wanting to get out of the hospital," Steve laughed.

Sydney looked at Steve from across the room, "he sounds a lot like Francis over here," she joked.

"Syd..." Gage said turning a little red.

"Yes, Gage?"

"Don't call me Francis," he said with a smile.

"Yes, Francis."

Amanda glanced at Gage, "Francis, your name is Francis?"

Gage looked at his wife, "thanks a lot, Syd."

"Hey no problem dear, after all what are wives for?"

Later at the dinner table everyone watched as Mark stood, "I'd like to make a toast." He looked around the table at his son, new and old friends, "I would like to tell you all that it has been so nice to have all of you here tonight. Over the last few days we have found some new friends in all of you. I hope that we will have another chance to see you all again. I guess that I should get to the chase so here it goes. Here is to Friends both new and old and with hope that this will not be good bye after tonight."

Everyone raised their glasses, "here, here."
