Los Angeles

Francis Gage knocked on a hotel door standing patiently as he waited for someone to answer it.

Across the hall, Emma Peterman heard the knock and looked through the peephole and watched a man stand in her eye line waiting for the door to open. She cracked her door open a little so that she could hear what was going on.

"Coming," came a man's voice from the other side. Opening the Door, Cordell Walker looked at his friend smiling, "hey, Gage."

"Walker, can I come in, we need to talk?" Gage asked nervously.

"Sure come on in, Buddy," he stood to the side as Gage entered, "what do you need to talk about?"

Gage pulled out his gun and pointed it at Walker.

"Gage, what are you doing?" Walker asked as he looked at his friend shocked to see his gun pointed at him.

"Something that I should have done a long time ago," he stated as he pulled the trigger.

Emma jumped as she heard the shot as her eyes got wide, "land sakes."

Gage looked at his friend on the floor then turned to leave. Emma watched as the murderer left and headed straight for her phone.

A few minutes later, Steve and Cheryl came to the hotel room door after being called that shots had been fired.

Cheryl knocked on the door of Walker's room and got no answer. After a minute Steve checked the door to find that it wasn't locked. Opening the door Cheryl stepped to the side as Steve entered. He looked down at Walker's body and then Cheryl looked around as she entered the room to see no one else there.

Steve then headed over to the neighbor's door and knocked while Cheryl called Amanda and for backup.

"Who's there?" Emma said.

"LAPD," Steve stated waiting for the older woman to open the door.

"How do I know that you are the police?" She asked bluntly.

Steve smiled as he pulled out his badge and held it out to the peephole.

The door opened and the lady looked at him, "it's about time you got here," she told him in not certain terms.

"Sorry about that, but I need to ask you some questions about the shots that you heard."

"No, shot, there was only one you know," she then opened the door more for Steve to come in.

"Did you see anyone come from the room?" Steve asked.

"Yes I did, he was the nice young man that was with the guy that had the room. They're police officers you know," She told him and smiled. "The other guy talked to me yesterday when he came by to meet that man that has the room over there. Let's see, what his name...was," she waited a moment and then looked back at Steve, "can't remember. You know I'm no spring chicken."

Steve smiled, "can you tell me what he looked like?"

"Well, his room is right down the hall, why don't you just go and see him? I can't believe that he's a killer he looked so nice."

"Do you know what room?"

"Yeah just two door's down," she paused for a minute as she thought, "Gage."

"Gage?" Steve asked.

"That's his name," she explained.

Steve looked at Emma for a moment, "thanks for your time. You were a big help."

"You just make sure he pays for killing his friend," she then looked at the door and back to Steve, "friend, that's not how friends are suppose to be, killing one another. You know what I mean?"

"Yes ma'am," Steve then headed for the door.

After Steve got a chance to leave Emma's room he headed back to Walker's room and over to his partner's side, "we have a witness."

"What's going on?" Cheryl asked noting that Steve looked at the door.

"Did you get an ID on this guy?" Steve asked.

"Texas Ranger Cordell Walker."

"He's a little far from home isn't he?"

They were interrupted by someone clearing their throat. They turned to see Amanda standing behind them, "what do we have?"

****

Gage opened the door to his room and watched as several officers headed toward Walker's room and decided it was time to make his exit.

He picked up his bag and headed for the stairs.

"Hey, where are you going?" Emma shouted.

Gage never stopped he headed toward the stairs and was quick to head out of the building.

Emma started shouting, "He's getting away."

Steve and Cheryl were quick to get to Emma's side, "what is it."

"You are letting the killer get away. You two get to work will ya?" She was shouting and hitting Steve in the arm at the same time, "He headed toward the stairs, get going."

Steve and Cheryl were quick to the stairs and headed out of the building but found that he was gone.

Back In Dallas

Alex-Cahill Walker sat at her desk as she heard a knocked on her door, "come in."

Sydney Cooke peeked into her friends off, "want to go get some lunch?"

Alex got out of her seat and started toward the door when her phone rang. She turned around to answer it, "Alex Cahill-Walker."

"Alex, is Sydney with you?" James Trivette asked.

"Yeah, she's right here Jimmy."

"Can I get you two to come down? I have something that I have to tell you."

"We'll be down in a minute," she said as she hung up the phone.

Sydney looked at Alex who just nodded, "Jimmy needs us down stairs."

Both Sydney and Alex entered the office of Company B and was met my Trivette, "hey."

"What's up, Jimmy?" Alex asked.

"I think that you two need to have a seat," he said as they headed over to his desk, "I've got some...something to tell you."

Sydney and Alex took a seat in front of Trivette's desk, "what is it?" Sydney asked.

"It's Walker," he looked at Alex as he talked.

"No...No," her eyes teared up as she looked at Trivette.

"He was shot earlier this morning...by..." he had to stop, he didn't want to say what he had to.

"What?" Sydney asked.

"He's dead and he was shot by..." he stopped once more.

"By who Jimmy? Who killed my husband?" Alex asked.

Trivette swallowed hard, "it was Gage."

"What?" Sydney cried out, "you have to be wrong."

"I wish that I was Syd but..."

"But what? You know Gage," she retorted.

"But he fled the scene," he sighed heavily as he noticed that every eye in the room was on him, "he did it Sydney."

Sydney looked at Alex, "you have to believe that Gage didn't."

"Didn't what, kill Walker? He shot my husband and..." Alex started to cry as Sydney came to her side, "get away from me, your husband killed Walker."

"Alex," Sydney tired to say something but found that there was nothing that she could do.

Sydney headed to her desk and quickly called to get a ticket to LA she had to find her husband.

****

Los Angela's Several Hours Later

Sydney had just gotten to LA and was searching feverishly for Gage. Finally her cell phone started to ring, "Syd."

"Honey, it's me."

"Gage, where are you? I'm in LA and have been looking everywhere for you." She asked as she pulled the car to the side of the road.

Gage gave Syd his location and she pulled back onto the road to meet her husband.

Sydney pulled into a parking lot in front of the beach as Steve and Cheryl pulled up behind her. She headed to their car, "give me a few minutes will you."

Steve shook his head and both he and his partner got out of the car walking onto the beach to keep an eye on the two Rangers.

It didn't take long for Sydney to find Gage sitting on the sand waiting for her, "Gage, what's going on."

"You know," he said never looking up.

"Yes, Jimmy told me and Alex both," she then sat down on the beach next to him. "Gage what happened?"

Gage took her hand, "I did it, I killed Walker."

"I know," she said as Steve and Cheryl came up behind both of them.

"Francis Gage, you are under arrest for the murder of Texas Ranger Cordell Walker," Cheryl said as Gage stood and Steve placed the cuffs on him.

"You called the LAPD?" Gage asked.

"I had to... you know that I had to call them," she answered him.

Gage saw the pain in Sydney's eyes and smiled, "it's alright, Honey."

****

Alex and Trivette were waiting at Steve's desk as Steve and Cheryl brought Gage in. Sydney was following behind them and stopped when she saw them.
Alex was quick to head over to Gage, "h...how could you do it? Please tell me it's not true, Gage," Alex pleaded.

"I can't," he said with a heavy heart.

Alex slapped Gage across the face before Trivette could stop her. He put a hand on Alex shoulder, "hey, you need to come with me to get some air."

"No Jimmy, he killed Walker," She shouted as she pulled away from him.

"I know but you need a little distance right now," He said trying to persuade her to leave.

"You're right, I need to get away from him," she said coldly as she followed Trivette out of the office.

Sydney walked over to Gage, "are you alright?"

Gage looked at her and shook his head, "I'll be fine. You need to leave there is no reason for you to be here."

"No reason? You're my husband," she retorted.

'Yeah, but Alex is your friend she is going to need you right now, and I don't want you here," he told her firmly.

"Gage," Sydney pleaded but was met by silence as Steve brought Gage to a near by officer, "take him to holding."

Sydney watched till she couldn't see Gage anymore then turned around so that she could go find Alex and Trivette.

****

Gage laid on a cot in his holding cell as the door opened and his cell mate came stumbling in asking, "What you looking at?"

"Nothing," Gage assured him as he closed his eyes.

"So what's your name?" he asked.

"Gage, yours?"

"Robert Alden, what are you in for?" he asked as he went to his cot to lie down.

"Killed my boss," Gage informed him proudly, "you?"

"Oh, I didn't really do anything, besides I'll be out soon enough." He turned his head to look at Gage, "so why did you kill your boss?"

"He was a pain and when a contract was put out on him I took the job." He opened his eyes and looked at Alden, "it's just that simple."

"Gage...Gage, what did you say that your first name was?" Alden asked.

"I didn't."

Alden sat up in his bed, "what's your name?"

"Francis Gage," he told him frustrated.

"Are you from Texas?" Alden asked as he remembered the name from somewhere.

"Yeah, so what?" Gage snapped as he closed his eyes again.

"You work for Walker...the Texas Ranger," he said in disbelief.

"Correction worked," Gage smiled at Alden as he sat up.

"You killed Ranger Cordell Walker," he asked his eyes getting wide.

"Don't make it sound so bad, after all he is only a man just like you and I am;" Gage assured him, "besides he never saw it coming."

****

Anthony Allen's sat at his breakfast table the next morning smoking his cigar. He picked up his paper and started reading the headline, "Texas Ranger gunned gown by fellow officer."

Smiling he called out, "Frank get in here."

"Yeah Boss?" Frank asked entering the room.

"Get Remoras on the phone," he ordered.

****

Alden walked over to another inmate, "you know what you have to do?"

"Yeah," he looked over where Gage sat across the room, "are you sure you want me to do this?"

"Yeah, orders from the boss," he said as he walked over to where Gage sat.

"Hey man what's up?" Gage asked as he looked over where Alden had come from.

"Nothing's up, besides you're not a cop anymore," he reminded Gage.

"I know."

A few minutes later, Gage and Alden headed toward the door to go back to their cell when they were stopped by several men, "what's going on?" Alden asked.

"Your sold drugs to my little brother, man, and your going to pay for that," one of the inmates yelled at Alden.

Within seconds the men where fighting against Alden with Gage helping him with his battle. When Gage was distracted, another prisoner pulled out a homemade knife and stabbed it into Gage's shoulder. He fell to the floor as he screamed out in pain. Alden went to his side trying to defend his new friend, "hey, you shouldn't have done that."

All the inmates jumped on Alden at the same time and soon the same man that had stabbed Gage had put his knife into Alden's right arm before the officers got the fight stopped.

****

Jesse saw Steve and Cheryl bring in two prisoners he moved quickly over to them, "what do we have?"

"Two stab victims," Steve informed him.

"This way," Jesse told Steve as he brought them to two examining rooms.

Steve stayed with Alden, while Cheryl went in the other room with Gage, "how are you feeling?"

Gage looked over at her, "like I've been stabbed."

"Sorry about that," she said as she sat down in a near by chair, "you want me to call your wife and let her know?"

Gage smiled generally impressed, "that would be great."

"This is happening faster than I thought it would," Gage confessed.

"Me too," Cheryl agreed.

****

After both men had been fixed up, Cheryl and Gage headed over to meet Steve and Alden at the door.

Steve turned to his friend, "thanks, Jess."

"Hey no problem," he assured him as Alden screamed out in pain, "what's wrong?" Jesse asked as he headed over to him.

"My arm it hurts bad," he cried out.

Steve looked at the young man as Jesse took a look at his arm, "what is it, Jess?"

Alden pulled his arms from behind his back revealing that he had gotten out of his cuffs and held a pair of scissors to Jesse's throat as he pulled him close to him, "we're getting out of here."

Steve and Cheryl pulled their guns out as Steve shouted, "you don't want to do this."

"But I do," he pointed to Gage, "uncuff him."

Gage looked at Alden, "what are you doing?"

"Getting us out of here, but if you want to stay I'll leave you," he shouted nervously.

Gage looked over at Steve who slightly nodded then back to Alden, "let's get out of here."

Cheryl uncuffed Gage as Alden turned his attention to Gage, "get their guns."

Steve pointed his gun at Gage, "listen you don't have to do this?"

Gage hit Steve as he grabbed the gun from him resulting in a fist fight resulting with both men and soon both men hit the ground when Gage kicked Steve's feet from out from under him.

Gage got the guns and Alden was quick to take one from Gage with his free hand, "let's get going."

Steve and Cheryl watched as Alden and Gage made their escape with Jesse as their hostage.

****

As the three men went into the parking lot Alden asked, "where's you car Doc?"

Jesse pointed to his car and they all got in as Alden made Jesse drive away.

****

Three Days Earlier

Steve and Cheryl sat at their desk when Ron Wagner came in with another FBI agent.

"Ron, what brings you to LA?" Steve said getting to his feet and headed over to Wagner's side.

"Business, I need you help," he informed his friend.

The other agent cleared his throat.

"Oh yeah, Steve this is Agent Simon Trivette," Ron introduced.

Steve smiled, "Simon, welcome to LA."

"Thanks," Simon said.

Cheryl came to her partner's side, "what's going on here?"

Ron looked at Steve and then at Cheryl "is there a place that we can talk in private."

They all walked into the nearest interrogation room, "alright Ron, what's up? Steve asked.

"We believe that Alberto Cortez has two men that are his major distributors, one stationed here and the other stationed in Dallas," Ron explained.

"Fredrick Remoras' top guy from Dallas, Robert Alden was arrested by the LAPD earlier this morning." Simon added.

"So what is it that you want us to do?" Steve asked.

"We already talked to the Texas Ranger's that are coming to pick Alden up but one of them is going to be killed and I need you to pick up the other for his arrest," Simon said as he placed two pictures on the table, "Ranger Cordell Walker and Francis Gage is going to be the two men that you will be working with on this one along with two other Ranger's." Placing two more pictures on the table, "these are the other two Rangers' that you are going to be working with, James Trivette and Sydney Cooke."

"Trivette, any relation to you?" Steve asked.

"He's my brother," Simon smiled as he said it, "don't worry we work well together."

****

Present Day

Mark brought a pot of coffee to his living room where Walker, Alex, Sydney and Amanda were all sitting around looking over some files, "fresh coffee," Mark called out.

"Sounds great, thanks," Alex said as she came to his side helping him.

"Have you found out anything from the reports that Steve brought by earlier?" Mark asked as the phone started to ring, "excuse me." Mark headed over to the phone, "hello."

"Dad, can I speak to Walker?" Steve asked.

"Sure, son," Mark brought the phone to Walker, "it's for you."

"Walker."

"They just escaped but we have a problem," Steve stated.

"What's the problem?" Walker asked worriedly.

"They have a hostage, Jesse Travis."

"Travis, the young doctor that was here this morning?"

Every eye in the room was on Walker as he talked to Steve on the phone.

"Alright keep us informed," Walker said.

Sydney was quick to Walker's side, "what's going on?"

"Gage and Alden escaped and it looks like they have a hostage," he repeated what he just heard.

Mark looked at Amanda, "Jesse?"

"I'm afraid so," Walker said.

Sydney took a deep breath as Alex came to her side, "you alright, Sydney?"

She took another deep breath saying, "Only Gage can get into trouble like this."

Amanda sighed, "no, Jesse is good at it too."

Mark looked at Walker, "sounds like they're in great company."

Walker shook his head in agreement.

****

Ron sat next to Trivette and Simon, "this was a good idea to put a tracking device into the heel of Gage's shoe," Simon said patting his brother on the back.

Trivette smiled, I've learned that it works."

"It sure does," Ron commented.

"They're moving again," Simon said as he watched the computer screen.

Ron put the van that they were traveling in onto the road and stayed with the car that Alden, Gage and Jesse were in.

****

Jesse looked up and noticed that they were getting low on fuel, "we need gas."

"Next station we see we'll get it," Alden said angrily.

A few miles down the road, Jesse pulled into a convenient store to the gas pump, "now what?" Jesse asked somewhat annoyed.

"You pump the gas while I go pay," Alden ordered, "Gage you watch this guy."

Gage got out of the car with his hand on his shoulder, "Look we have to get you out of here."

"What and leave you with this guy?" Jesse asked.

"I can handle myself and besides this is dangerous," Gage told him never taking his hand off his shoulder.

Jesse looked at Gage's hand, "what's wrong with your shoulder?"

"Nothing," Gage said not wanting Jesse to look at his wound.

Jesse moved Gage hand and looked under Gage's shirt to reveal that his stitches had opened up, "when did this happen?"

"It opened up at the hospital when Steve and I got into that scuffle," Gage said with a half smile.

"What? It's been open for that long?" Jesse looked at Gage and just shook his head. "Do you have to be hard headed to be in law enforcement?"

"Something like that," Gage joked.

"I'm not leaving without you and that's final," he looked once more at Gage's shoulder, "besides I've got to do something about that."

Gage watched at Alden came to their side, "please let me get you out of this," he tried once more.

"No," Jesse shot back as he put the gas nozzle back up, "I'm going to fix that now."

Alden watched as Jesse looked at Gage's shoulder, "what are you doing?"

"His stitches opened back up," he stated, "and I'm a doctor, so I'm going to fix it for him."

Gage watched Alden's face to see what his reaction would be, "he's just doing what he was trained to do."

Alden tossed something to Jesse who caught it, "how did you get that?" Jesse asked as he looked at his wallet.

"I learned how to pick pocket's early," Alden said with a smile, "get to work patching him up."

Jesse went back to work on Gage's arm and surveyed the area, "we have to get his stitched back up but..."

Gage finished the sentence for him, "but there is nothing for you to do it with."

Jesse though for a moment, "I've got my medical bag in the trunk," he said fast.

Alden saw how Jesse was working feverishly to help Gage, "why are you doing this Doc," he asked.

"Cause I'm a doctor," he paused as he looked up at Gage, "and he needs my help."

After sitting in the parking lot in Jesse's car for a few minutes, Jesse had Gage's shoulder fixed up, "there you go."

Gage looked up, "thanks."

"No problem," he said as Alden cleared his throat.

Both Gage and Jesse turned their attention to Alden.

"It's time to go," he pointed his gun at Jesse, "drive."

****

Sydney stood on the deck of the beach house watching the waves crash onto the shore when Mark came out of the house, "mind if I join you?"

Sydney turned her head to look at Mark and nods, "not at all," she said sighing as she looked back at the waves.

"Thinking about your husband?" Mark asked.

"I wish that I was with him," she turned to face Mark again; "he's my partner I should be there."

"I know what you mean," he walked over to her side as they both started to look at the waves coming in and out.

"Jesse?" Sydney asked.

"Yeah, he is like a son to me," he confessed.

Sydney smiled as she looked over at Mark, "Gage will look after him."

"I know he will," he turned his attention to the door heading back into the beach house where Alex stood; "Your friend is worried about you."

Sydney turned toward the door at Alex, "I know," she said as she started toward the door but stopped, "Hey thanks, Mark."

"Any time Sweetie, any time," he said as he watched Sydney head back in.

****

Steve and Cheryl knocked on the door of the surveillance van as Trivette opened it up, "hey guys," Trivette greeted.

Steve waited for Cheryl to climb in while he was asking, "what's going on?"

Ron spoke up, "they're still in that hotel room."

Steve and Cheryl looked across at the hotel, "how long have they been in there."

Simon looked at his watch, "a little over three hours."

Cheryl stared at the hotel and back at Trivette, "you sure that they are still in there?"

"Yes, Gage hasn't left and if he does we will track him," Trivette said as he quickly glanced at the computer screen.

"I know that you're right but this whole thing hasn't gone as planned;" She told him a little worried, "besides I have a bad feeling about this."

Trivette looked up at her as he took a deep breath, "I have to admit I have the same feeling."

****

In the hotel room Gage looked at Jesse and then at Alden as he stood from the chair that he was sitting in, "I'm going to get in contact with the guy that hired me to kill Walker and get the money that is due me."

"Is he here in LA?" Alden questioned.

"Yeah, I talked to him before I was arrested," Gage assured him.

Alden looked at Gage and then at the phone, "alright call him."

Gage took a quick glance at Jesse as he headed to the phone and started dialing.

"Trivette," Jimmy answered.

Gage watched Alden who was staring at him, "yeah it's Gage."

"Hey, Buddy, how is everything going in there?" Trivette asked as he got everyone's attention.

"Alright, it's time that we meet so that I can get paid," he said as he looked over at Jesse who was listening in on Gage's conversation.

"We have every thing set up can you get Dr. Travis there with you so we can get him out of this."

"Yes."

"Good you know the place to go?" Trivette asked.

"Yeah I will see you there."

"Alright, Buddy," Trivette hung up the phone and looked over at his brother, "we're set."

"What about Jesse?" Steve asked.

"He'll be there," Trivette assured him.

Steve pulled out his cell phone, "I'll get your people there too," he said calling his home number.

****

Fredrick Remoras listened to the person on the other end on the phone, "you said that he's escaped with Francis Gage?"

"Yeah, he was arrested for the murder of a Ranger Walker." Allen informed his friend.

"You are kidding me right," he yelled over the phone.

"No, why?"

"Francis Gage and Cordell Walker are best friends this has to be a set up."

"What do you want me to do?" Allen asked.

"Take care of him," he ordered as he hung up the phone.

****

Gage watched as Alden left the room and then headed over to Jesse, "ok when we go to pick up the money I'm getting you out of this."

"How he's going to with me the whole time," Jesse asked.

"I'll come up with something," Gage said as he noticed the door opening.

****

Little Later At An Abandoned Warehouse

Jesse drove in front of the building and parked as he waited to see what was going to happen next.

Trivette sat across the street in the surveillance van where Walker, Sydney, Cheryl and himself watched the transaction from afar, "its show time."

Sydney looked at Gage and smiled happy to see that he was alright.

Simon Trivette came out of the warehouse and met Gage as the three men got out of the car, "Gage, I'm pleased with the job that you did."

"Peterson, I'm just glad that it's over now where is the money," he asked as he came around to Jesse's side.

Jesse looked at Gage as he whispered to him, "hit me and run into the building."

Steve was watching from inside the building as he heard shots being fired.

Gage tried to push Jesse to the ground but was not quick enough and on their way to the ground he heard Jesse cry out in pain.

Alden pointed his gun at Gage get him in the car we're out of here," he said as he cocked the gun that he was holding.

A shot whizzed past them and hit Simon bring him to the ground.

As Gage got Jesse up and headed to the car for cover Alden shot a warning shot at Gage, "the next one goes in the Doctor here."

Gage shook his head as he got Jesse in the back seat of the car and then got into the driver's seat as more shots were being fired at them.

"What's going on?" he asked Alden.

"You're driving that's what," he yelled.

Walker, Trivette, Sydney and Cheryl were out of the van and heading toward the building as Gage pulled out of the parking lot. Before they could get to the building there was an explosion that rocked the street.
