"Lieutenant, I need to see you for a minute."

Steve stood and walked to the Captain's door, "What is it Captain?"

I have an interesting case here I think you would be interested in, but it would require you having to go undercover.

Steve looked at the folder, How long would it be?

Not sure, the Captain replied as he picked up his coffee mug, it could take a week or it could take a month. Theres really no way to know. So you interested?

Yeah, Ill do it. When do I start?

Tomorrow if you can be ready.

What exactly do I need to get ready for?

Well, how brushed up are you on your motorcycle riding skills?

Why? Steve asked with confusion evident in his tone.

Well, on this assignment you would be working undercover at this motorcycle manufacturing plant that allegedly smuggles drugs among other things.

Alright, that sounds interesting enough. I guess can start tomorrow. Where do I need to go?

Heres the address. Keep us informed, but be careful.

Steve nodded as he left the office.

*********

Bags in arms, Steve walked up the stairs to the upper level of the beach house. Mark was sitting at his desk, and he looked up when he heard Steve, Whats with all the stuff?

Ive got an undercover assignment, and I have to move out for a while.

Anything you can tell me about it?

Not really. Not without revealing too much information.

I understand. Any idea how long youll be undercover?

No, not for sure. It could be a week or it could be a month. Well, I need to get going. Ill see you when I see you. Bye, Dad.

Bye, Steve. Be careful, Mark added with a note of worry.

Steve piled his luggage in the passenger seat of his truck and headed down the PCH. He arrived at an apartment building in about a half-hour. After dropping his stuff at the apartment building, he left for the warehouse. He reached the factory in less than ten minutes. He walked in and was immediately greeted by a young woman. What can I help you with?

My name is Steve Hayes. Im supposed to see Vic about the job opening.

The woman gave him an once-over and without saying a word, picked up the phone and told the person at the other end that someone was here to see Vic.

Within the next minute, a tall, lanky man came out from the back office. He looked at Steve, and introduced himself, Vic Malone. You must be Steve.

Steve nodded, Yep, thats me.

Come on lets go back and introduce you to the guys. I see youve already met Celeste, Vic stated as he opened the door to the garage. Steve automatically did inventory of the garage. He saw several manufacturing systems, and thought they looked legit. He saw some crates along the wall, but they were sealed, so he couldnt see the contents. As he walked on with Vic, Steve passed a dark room and through the partially opened door, he was able to see two guns lying on a table. Before being noticed, Steve snapped his attention back to Vic, who was now introducing a couple of men. This is Paul, our main mechanic, and this is Billy he works on special cases that come in. And over there is Colin, our other mechanic. Youll be assisting Paul in any work that needs to be done. Any questions?

Steve looked at Vic and then looked around, I know you make motorcycles but what other kind of work gets done here?

Vic looked at him and told him, Well, youre right this is a small manufacturing company of customized motorcycles. We also do repair work and do small enhancements on older bikes to make them better.

Ah, so where do I start?

Well, we have one bike over there that is supposed to be finished next week. You can help Paul as he finishes it up.

Alright, Steve walked over and rolled up his sleeves, just tell me what to do.

Paul handed Steve a wrench and told him, Tighten up the lug nuts on the tires. And make sure the tires are inflated correctly. Then just check all the nuts and bolts and make sure everything is secure. Ill be back in a minute.

Okay, and Steve went on about his work as Paul left and meet up with Vic by the back room.

So this guy is one of Reds? Paul asked as he approached Vic.

Yeah thats right. He told me he was one of the best he had.

So, when are we going to let him start?

I was thinking to go ahead and do it with this bike. May as well get it over with. Id rather go ahead and see if hes trustworthy from the get-go than wait until later. We need the extra man, and if we wait and find out too late, it would take a while to find someone else when we need him the most. Lets see how he works first and then well talk to him.

Alright, let me go inspect his work. Just give me the signal when youre ready.

Yeah I will.

Paul walked back towards Steve as Vic walked towards the office. Paul looked over Steves shoulder and watched him work, Nice job. Tires are perfect and balanced.

Steve looked up, Thanks.

Paul looked up and saw Vic wave him into the back room. Come on. Let me show you the break room.

Steve got up, Alright.

Steve and Paul walked to the room at the back of the garage, the room where Steve had first spotted the guns. When they walked in, Vic, Colin, and Celeste were waiting on them. Steve eyed the shotguns on the table and Vic noticed, So, I see you are interested in our merchandise.

Steve looked up in amazement. He wondered if he had already been found out. But he hoped not and just played along, Yep, from the looks of it. They look like nice merchandise.

They are. That they are. So would you like to do the honor with this shipment?

Id love to. But I wold need some help in showing me the ropes around here.

Thats where Billy will help you. Now you might want to go ahead and start, were scheduled to ship 5 motorcycles by Friday, so that only gives you 3 days.

Steve nodded as he and Billy walked out of the room. As he walked out, Steve heard Vic tell Paul, Keep a close watch on him. We have to know if he can be trusted.

Steve didnt acknowledge that he heard, and he kept on walking. Billy and Steve reached an empty crate. Billy told him and pointed to a motorcycle across the garage, That one goes in there, and heres the list of extras that goes in it also. Steve looked at the list. He saw several types of guns listed and an amount of cocaine listed. Steve silently hoped that Billy would leave to do something. Just like he could read Steves mind, Billy told Steve, Ill be back in a minute. Try to gather all these items and when I get back Ill show you how to pack them into the crates.

Billy left and Steve quickly pulled a small camera out of his pocket. He laid the list on a table and pulled a gun from the rack and when he put it on the table, he inconspicuously took a picture of the list. He continued to gather the items listed. By the time Billy returned, Steve had collected almost all of the merchandise. As he laid the last gun down, Billy brought over some packing material, Here let me show you how to pack these, so that they cannot be easily detected. Billy proceeded to pack the guns around the crate. Steve watched and then finally Billy handed the materials to Steve, Here you do it. Steve carefully took the packaging and wrapped a gun, and then placed it in the crate just like Billy had done. Good job. Keep it up. Ill be back in a while. Ive got to get some things from the back. Finish this crate up and then well get to the next one soon.

Steve nodded in agreement as he watched Billy walk towards a partially opened door at the back of the garage. Steve wondered briefly what was back there, but soon returned to his work.

He worked and soon he had finished packing all the guns listed. He walked to the back room and called for Billy. Yeah Im in here. Come on in.

Steve opened the door, and he saw shelves and shelves of guns and rifles in all shapes, sizes, and makes. And towards the back of the room, he saw three large locked safes, one of which was opened. The opened safe revealed several shelves, each containing several bags of white powder.

Billy smiled at him, Welcome to the supply room. Let me show you around. As you can see, this area is the gun supply. You can find just about any kind of gun here. And then, those safes back there contain all out drugs and hypodermics that are ordered by our clients.

Steve tried to keep his surprise to himself, I thought I was told that you keep your supplies elsewhere?

Well, we like to let people think that the supplies are keep in another place. This tends to throw people off guard so that they dont try anything.

Nice move. So, I finished the crate. What do I need to do next?

Vic leaned against the door frame, Thats some nice work. You catch on quickly.

Steve turned his head and saw Vic and Paul standing at the door, Thanks.

Why dont you go ahead and work on the other crates. The lists are on the desk in the office.

Steve walked to the office and retrieved the lists. He went back to his work. He worked the rest of the day packing crates. He kept this same routine for about a week. Every day Steve was able to gather a little more physical evidence and inside evidence. He was able to take several more pictures of the lists and orders from buyers and invoices from the suppliers. Steve was sure that in a few more days, he would have enough evidence to bring down the smuggling business.

One morning Steve was working on an engine when Vic and Paul walked in. Vic commented on Steves work, You are certainly one of the better workers Ive hired in a long time.

Steve looked over his shoulder, Thanks. I was just tweaking this engine a little before its installed.

Vic walked closer, Well why dont you take a break for a while. Me and Paul were about to test drive the next shipment of bikes. Theres three of them want to join us?

Yeah that would be great.

Then lets go, Vic said as the three men walked towards the waiting bikes.

Each of the men grabbed a helmet and climbed on the bikes. Vic let Steve and Paul head out first. Paul led, since Steve didnt know the area too well. The three men stayed close as they rode around the small neighborhood. Soon, Vic and Paul speeded up. To keep up, Steve also speeded up. Soon Steve had caught up to the other two guys, but he hit a small patch of gravel on the road. Surprised by the sudden bump, Steve lost control of the bike. He leaned too far to one side and started skidding. Steve tried his best to avoid hitting anything big, but he didnt have much control over the bike. A few seconds later, the bike hit a bush and came to a sudden stop. Steves leg was trapped between the ground and the wrecked bicycle. Vic and Paul rushed over and knelt down next to Steve. When he noticed Steve move, Vic asked him, Are you okay? Are you hurt?

In a voice tight with pain, Steve answered, I think Ill be okay. But I think I hurt my leg.

Without a second thought Vic told Paul to call an ambulance. As Paul called, Vic leaned over Steve and started to move the bike off Steves leg. Even though Vic barely moved the bike, Steve grimaced in pain, Maybe you should just wait until the paramedics get here.

Vic patted Steve on the shoulder, Alright.

Within five minutes, the ambulance had arrived. Once on the scene, the EMTs started an IV on Steve and gave him some pain medicine. Then they worked efficiently to get the bike off Steves leg and in a matter of minutes, Steve was clear from the wreckage. The paramedics splinted Steves left leg and applied dressings to the deep wounds on his legs. They also applied some bandages to Steves left shoulder, where he had scraped it on the pavement. They loaded Steve on the stretcher and Vic walked beside him, Were coming with you to make sure youre okay. Were not going to lose a good worker like you.

You dont have to go. Ill be fine on my own.

No, well go. No need for you to go alone.

Steve nodded. But he was worried that someone somewhere would recognize him and blow his cover. Steve watched as Paul and Vic hopped on their bikes and followed after the ambulance. By now the pain medication had started to blur Steves thoughts. The next thing he realized was that he was being wheeled into an ER. Through a haze, Steve saw Jesse hovering over him and calling to him, Steve, can you hear me?

Steve nodded and murmured a yes.

Good, now just relax, and well take good care of you.

Steve nodded again. Steve was aware of being lifted to another bed, and then for the next few minutes, he was aware of several doctors and nurses around him. He knew the routine blood tests, X-rays, and vital checks, so he just lay there while the competent professionals checked him over. He closed his eyes, and sometime later, he heard his name being called again. He opened his eyes to see the hazy figure of his fathers face above him. Dad, his voice trailed off.

Im right here. Just relax. Steve closed his eyes, but still heard his father ask, Jesse, how bad is it?

Steve only heard part of Jesses reply, Well, his left shoulder and leg took the brunt of the injury. He has deep wounds on his shoulder, and he also has deep wounds to his leg. He broke his tibia and fibula. Right now were waiting on more tests to determine if any of the lacerations damaged any tendons or ligaments. But as soon s the OR is ready, were sending him up to have his leg set.

In a weak voice Steve questioned, What?

Jesse stood by Steve, Steve, youre groggy from the morphine you were given. Thats why you feel so sleepy. We know you have a broken leg, and several deep wounds and lacerations on your shoulder and leg. Were going to take you up in a little while to set your leg. Were still doing some tests right now to see just how much damage was done.

As Jesse was talking, a nurse entered the room, Dr. Travis, there are some men out here asking about Lieutenant Sloan. What should I tell them?

Steve reached for Jesses arm. Jesse turned around, What is it Steve?

Undercover job. They cant know me.

Youre still undercover?

Steve nodded and Jesse looked over to the nurse, Dont let him know hes a police officer. Tell them that he is still being treated, but that he is stable. Show them to the consultation room and tell them Ill be there in a minute.

The nurse left and Jesse turned back to Steve, Who are those guys out there?

By now Mark was at Steves other side. Steve answered the best he could, They are the bosses at the garage. I need to talk to Captain Newman. Steve moved ever so slightly, but he still grimaced in pain.

Jesse put a hand on his shoulder, Easy Steve. Youre in no condition to move right now. You just relax and well get your captain over here soon. Right now you need to sleep. Jesse told him as he injected morphine into Steves IV. Steve didnt argue. It took too much strength to argue, and he just didnt have any extra strength. He remembered one last thing before the medicine overtook him, They know me as Steve Hayes.

Mark and Jesse walked to the side of the room, Well, I guess I need to go talk to those guys.

Mark looked at Jesse, Dont tell them anything about him being a cop.

I wont, Jesse replied as he walked out of the room and into the consultation room. There were two men waiting on him. Hi, Im Dr. Travis. Ive been taking care of Mr. Hayes today.

Yeah Im Vic Malone, his boss. How is he doing?

He is stable right now. He has numerous cuts, abrasions, and lacerations on both his left shoulder and his left leg. His left leg is broken, but were still waiting on tests to see if there was any damage to the tendons and ligaments.

Can we see him?

Well, he is asleep right now, and he does need his rest. Hell be going up to surgery to set his leg in a little while, and then hell be out of it the rest of the day. It would be better if you came back tomorrow. You can check with the front desk for his room number.

Thanks, Doc. Well do just that.

**********

Jesse returned to Steves exam room, and checked the monitors. Mark walked up behind him, How did it go?

Jesse turned to Mark, Good. They seemed truly concerned about him.

Well, I just hope they dont find out. That could mean trouble for Steve. I guess I need to call his captain and tell him whats going on.

Yeah that might be good. Why dont you call him while Steves in surgery. Were about to take him up.

Yeah I think Ill do that.

Jesse returned the chart to the bed, and then prepared to move Steve. A couple of orderlies pushed the stretcher towards the elevator. Mark and Jesse followed behind him.

Mark walked to the waiting room as Jesse took Steve to the OR.

Mark called the police station and when the receptionist answered Mark answered, Yes, this is Dr. Mark Sloan calling for Captain Newman.

Mark waited for a response, Newman here.

Captain Newman this is Mark Sloan. I wanted to let you know that Steve was in an accident earlier today and hes in the hospital.

Hes supposed to be undercover.

According to want he said, this happened undercover.

Has his cover been blown?

Were not sure. We dont think so. Jesse Travis managed to talk to the guys, and they left and theyre not supposed to come back until tomorrow.

Well, good. I guess I need to get a couple of guys up there to be on lookout. When will I be able to talk to him?

Well, today wont be good. Hes in surgery right now having his leg set, so hell be out pretty much the rest of the day. You could talk to him tomorrow though.

Alright, thats fine. But I still want to go ahead and send up a couple of guards. Do you think we could get them some scrubs or something to wear so they will fit in and not look too much like police officers?

Yeah that will be fine. Just tell them to hunt me down. Ill make sure theyre taken care of.

Thanks Doctor Sloan; sent my best to Steve.

I will.

After they hung up, Mark sat down on the sofa in the waiting room. Within a few minutes, Amanda walked into the room. Hey Mark. I just heard. How is he?

Hes okay. He broke his leg and he has some pretty deep gashes on his shoulder and leg. Theyre setting his leg right now.

Was he still working undercover?

Yeah, but I really dont know what all went on. All I know is that he was riding a motorcycle and had an accident. Dont know if it was sabotage or not.

They talked for about an hour until Jesse came in, Hey, hes doing fine. The surgery went smoothly. His leg is set and in traction.

Thats good. Thank you, Jesse.

Jesse patted Mark on the shoulder, You can go on it and see him. Hes in room 347. In fact I was just about to go and check on him.

Mark and Amanda got up from the couch and followed Jesse out of the waiting room. They approached Steves room and Jesse opened the door. Steve was still asleep. He had bandages on his left arm and his left leg was in traction. Mark walked close to the bed, How bad was the break?

It wasnt too bad. We were able to put the bone together with pins and screws, and we didnt have to use any bone graphs. We should be able to take the pins out soon. We had to put a splint on right now instead of a cast so that we can keep an eye on the wounds in case he gets an infection, but weve got him on antibiotics to try to prevent that from happening.

After Jesse finished checking Steve, he sat down beside Mark and Amanda. After they had talked for about an hour, the door opened and a nurse and two men walked in. Dr. Sloan, these men said they were supposed to meet with you.

Mark stood up, Yes they are. Thank you. Amanda, Jesse these are two guards that Captain Newman sent over. Theyre supposed to dress like orderlies so that they will fit in. Ive got to show them where their clothes are. Ill be back. Come on, Ill the clothes are in my office.

The men followed Mark out the door and into his office. They retrieved their clothes, and within a few minutes they were on their way to Steves room. Mark returned to the room to find that Jesse had left. Amanda explained, He had to go to the ER. There was something about a pile-up, and they needed help.

Mark sat down in the chair next to Steves bed and faced Amanda. She told him, I hate to leave but I really need to get home to my boys.

Go. Im just going to stay here awhile.

Alright Mark, Im gone. Take care.

After Amanda left, Mark turned facing the bed and took out his newspaper. After reading for a while, Mark heard a movement. He looked towards Steve and saw that he was waking up. Mark stood next to the bed, Steve.

Steve opened his eyes and looked towards Mark.

Hey there. How do you feel?

Steve let the question sink in, Sore.

Yeah, well thats about right after a motorcycle accident, Mark smiled.

My leg hurts.

Yeah I know. Ill get Jesse to give you some morphine to help with the pain.

Thanks.

So, Steve what happened?

Steve tried to adjust himself in the bed, but he decided that it hurt too much, We went out test-driving some motorcycles and I hit something that made me lose control.

Your captain is coming by tomorrow to talk to you.

Do the other guys know Im a cop?

We dont think so. Jesse was able to get the to go home until tomorrow, so well see what happens.

Okay.

Mark noticed that Steve was having a hard time keeping his eyes open, so he told him, Ill get Jesse to give you the morphine. You get some rest. Ill see you tomorrow.

Steves eyes were already closed, Okay.

*********

The next morning, Captain Newman entered into Steves room to find Steve eating his breakfast. Steve looked up, Morning Captain.

Newman nodded, How are you feeling?

Ill be fine. So about the undercover business - my dad said that the guys didnt know yet.

Yeah, we dont think they suspect anything. I understand theyre supposed to be coming up here today.

Yeah I think so. Are you going to arrest them then or wait?

Well, I think Im going to wait and get them at the drop next week. Then I will for sure have enough evidence. But if I have to, then well get them before that. But in the meantime, Ill be sure to keep extra guards around your room.

Thanks, Captain.

Good job, Sloan. You take care, Newman replied as he walked out of the room.

A few minutes passed and Steves door opened again. This time it was Mark and Jesse who came in. Mark was the first to speak, How are you feeling this morning?

Steve knew he couldnt lie to his father, Well, my leg and shoulder are hurting, but Im sure thats to be expected.

Yeah youre right. It is to be expected. But we can give you pain medicine to help control it, so dont be afraid to ask for something, Jesse told him as he checked Steves leg.

Mark stood next to Steves bed, Has Captain Newman come yet?

Yeah he was here earlier. He said he was going to try and hold off the arrest until the drop next week. That way hes sure to have enough evidence.

As they were talking, Vic and Paul walked up to Steves partially opened door.

Unaware of his company outside the door, Steve kept talking, I hope it can wait until then. Itd be a shame if all this folded because of this accident.

Mark reassured his son, Im sure it wont fold. I mean it sounds like youve already got a bunch of evidence to incriminate most of them.

Yeah, I know. But it would be a guaranteed conviction with the raid next week.

Vic and Paul looked at each other. Vic whispered to Paul, I cant believe hes a cop. Lets get out of here. Vic and Paul casually walked away from the door towards the elevator. Once they were in the car on the way back to the garage Vic spoke up, We have got to find a way to get rid of that guy. Hes going to ruin us. Just imagine what kind of evidence he was able to obtain after only being here a week. Vic thought for a moment, Well, we need to cancel the planned drop for next week.

Paul looked at him, Ill take care of that.

Vic thought some more, Now how to get that guy. We dont have time to wait until hes released. Ill just have to sneak in there and do something. Maybe I can sneak in a knife. I can be out of there before they realize hes dead.

Vic and Paul continued to talk, and they decided that they would go back to hospital that afternoon and proceed with the plan to kill Steve.

*************

Later that day, Steve was resting in his room. He had given up on the possibility of finding anything to watch on TV, so he tried to read the days paper, but even that wasnt working out. He knew he was confined to bed, but he had to find something to do. When his door opened, Steve perked up he had company. Vic walked through the door, Hey, Vic.

Hey yourself. How ya doing?

Ill live. Bored as everything though. Theres nothing to do when youre confined to bed.

Vic walked closer, Well, Ill keep you company for a while.

Thanks. Thats great. They told me some guys came in with me yesterday. Thanks for coming.

They never even let us see you. We got sent home. I didnt think much about it at the time, but now I know.

What are you talking about? Steve was getting nervous that Vic knew the truth.

Quit acting like you dont know. I know youre a cop, and you wont get away with this, Vic pulled out a knife and tried to stab Steve in the chest. Steve managed to push Vics hand away, but he still made contact with Steves abdomen. Just as Vic was about to stab again, the door flew open and the police yelled, FREEZE! Vic stopped where he was, and when he was told to drop the knife, he did. The cops ran over, cuffed him, and lead him out. Mark and Jesse ran over to Steve, whose side was bleeding heavily.

Jesse felt for a pulse, Steve, look at me.

Steve rolled his eyes towards Jesse and murmured something.

Jesse lowered the head of the bed and ordered him moved to surgery. Amanda entered the room just in time to see Steve being wheeled out. She looked at Mark and walked over to him, What happened?

They knew Amanda, and they tried to kill him.

Come on Mark. Lets go wait in the lounge.

Once inside the lounge, Mark sat down at the table and quietly accepted the cup of coffee Amanda gave him.

Oh Amanda. This is all my fault.

Oh Mark its not your fault, you know that. He was just doing his job.

But Amanda you dont understand those guys probably overheard us talking to Steve and found out he was a cop. If they had known earlier, they would have done something sooner.

You have no way of knowing when they found out.

Amanda, I just know. I know they overheard us talking, and now Steves hurt again. And its all my fault.

********

A couple of hours later, Jesse found Mark and Amanda waiting in the doctors lounge.

Mark saw him and stood, How is he?

Hes stable. The knife cut his aorta, but we were able to control the bleeding. He lost pretty much blood, so we gave him a transfusion. He should be fine in a couple of weeks. You can go see him if you want.

Mark stood and headed out the door, Thanks, Jesse.

********

A few days later, Jesse found Mark sitting in the doctors lounge, Hey, Mark.

Mark kept his gaze at the wall, Hi, Jesse.

Have you been in to see Steve today?

No, not yet. It just keeps getting harder every time I go in there.

Mark,

I almost lost him Jesse, and its all my fault.

Mark, quit blaming yourself. It wasnt your fault.

If me and Steve hadnt been talking then those guys wouldnt have heard and they wouldnt have known that he was a cop.

Mark, you know both Steve and his captain said it was only a matter of time before they discovered who Steve really was, Jesse told Mark flatly, Plus Steve is worried about you.

Mark looked at Jesse, Why?

Because youre blaming yourself. He doesnt blame you; in fact, nobody blames you. Getting hurt is a risk he takes with the job.

But,

Jesse interrupted him, Mark, Steve has been hurt before. This time is no different. The most important thing is that Steve is okay and that he is recovering nicely from both the accident and the knife wound, Jesse paused, Steve was asking where you were. He wanted to talk to you. Mark hesitated so Jesse continued, Go see your son Mark. Talk to him about all this.

Mark stood, Alright. Ill go. He left the room and walked towards Steves room. He opened the door and saw Steve propped up in bed. A nurse was helping him eat his lunch. When the door opened, Steve turned his head and in a weak but cheerful voice he greeted, Hey Dad.

Mark smiled at his son, How are you feeling?

Not too bad. At least I can eat now.

Mark smiled as he remembered how much Steve like hospital food. The nurse excused herself and Mark moved closer to the bed. At first he didnt know what to say but it soon came pouring out, Steve I am so sorry.

Steve leaned back, Dad, you have nothing to be sorry about.

I just feel so responsible.

You shouldnt. Its not your fault.

But if we hadnt been talking

Steve interrupted Mark, They would have found out some other way and would have tried the same thing only at a different time. And I didnt have to talk about it anyway. Its just as much my fault as yours.

But you didnt do anything to deserve all this.

Exactly, Steve smiled, and neither did you.

Seeing Steve smile like that made Mark realize that even if it was his fault, Steve didnt blame him. But even if Steve had blamed him, he knew Steve had already forgiven him. Mark patted his sons shoulder and smiled at him, Thank you.

Steve looked at him, For what?

For reminding me what a great son I have.

Steve smiled back at his father. They talked for a little while longer, but Steve soon became restless. He tried to move into a more comfortable position, but the pain in his shoulder and abdomen kept him from moving too much. Dad, could you help me move this pillow so I can lay down?

Sure, Mark got up and helped move the pillow from behind Steve. He then helped Steve lie back.

Steve looked to his father, Thanks. Thats much better.

Mark noticed Steve looked tired, You get some rest, and Ill be back later.

Steves eye closed, Okay, Dad.

Steve was soon asleep, so Mark left the room. Once outside the room, he saw Amanda.

You look better.

What?

You dont look as worried or tense as before.

Im not. I do feel better. Steve is asleep. Do you want to get something to eat.

I would love to.
