OUR ROBOTS

We are into Robot Wars and one of these days we’ll enter.  We built a test robot, which works pretty well; here is the major parts list:

• Drive train, wheels, motors – all out of an old wheelchair we got from eBay and stripped
• Base – plywood
• Armour – aluminium sheet
• Remote control – Futaba Skysport 4
• PWM controllers – Open Source Motor Controllers
• Batteries – Yuasa

We have a servo-controlled telepresence video camera on top, so you can see where you’re going through a VR visor (2D only so far).  

We also have some Lego Mindstorms stuff and a UMI pick-and-place industrial arm robot.
