THE DEAD MILKMEN
Swordfish

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

Tabbed by: Ben Gladdle (moose9377@hotmail.com)

I'll say it right away. This is a shitty tab. But the guitar is
fairly irrelevant to this song. The bass is what you should worry
about getting right. There's only a bit of tab to this song, but
quite a bit of explanation required, so I'll start now.

The guitar I would play with a slide, and then slightly vibrate the
note(s) up and down a little. If you don't have a slide, what I would
do is play the three notes with one finger (the easiest way) and bend
and release the notes until you get a similar sound. Play with it and
you'll get something that sounds OK.

Basically the whole song is based on bending those three notes on the
9th fret (basically an E chord). So if you just keep playing that
when needed (preferably with a slide up first) that's most of the song.
Occasionally do the slide up to the 12th fret, then back to the 9th,
and sometimes throw in a slide down from the 9th.

The only other part of the song is on the 4th fret during the postage
stamp bit. The same principle applies. Anyway, hope you have some
idea of what I'm talking about. Mail me and ask if you have any
questions.

Verse:
-----

You don't need to play these different parts in sequence. Just vary
them a bit, and you'll be fine.

E---------|---------------|---------------
B--/9v----|--9v--/12v--\--|--9b---\-------
G--/9v----|--9v--/12v--\--|--9b---\-------
D--/9v----|--9v--/12v--\--|--9b---\-------
A---------|---------------|---------------
E---------|---------------|---------------

Chorus:
------

E--------
B--4v----
G--4v----
D--4v----
A--------
E--------

That's all. Good luck... You'll probably need it for this one.
