THE DEAD MILKMEN

      and: Justin Daniel (jusdaniel@hotmail.com)

Justin Daniel has helped me out by supplying the very tricky and
snazzy verse riff. Hurrah! Justin says that it's easiest to use 2
fingers to play the top 3 strings and use your other 2 fingers to
play the notes. And I agree, for what it's worth! :) The timing's
pretty easy as it just follows the words.

I still need help with the words, and I'm still not 100% about
the G#/G#m in the chorus, but I'm leaning toward the G#m now (about
95%), so I changed it accordingly (it does sound a lot better when
you're playing just by yourself).

Verse:
-----
    B F# D A E B
E---7--11--9--7-------------------------------5-5---5-5---7-7--7---
B---7------------9--7--------7-9-7------------7-7---5-5---9-9--7---
G---8-----------------8---8-------------------7-7---6-6---9-9--8---
D-----------------------9---------------------7-7---7-7---9-9--9---
A---------------------------------------------5-5---7-7---7-7--9---
E---------------------------------------------------5-5--------7---
    Stan's been seeing phantoms...

    B F# D A E B
E---7--11--9--7-------------------7-----------5-5---5-5---7-7--7---
B---7-----------9--7-------7--9------9--7-----7-7---5-5---9-9--7---
G---8----------------8---8--------------------7-7---6-6---9-9--8---
D----------------------9----------------------7-7---7-7---9-9--9---
A---------------------------------------------5-5---7-7---7-7--9---
E---------------------------------------------------5-5--------7---
    Though we've never touched...

verse:
B F#
Stan's been seeing phantoms and we're not sure what to do
    D A E B
His screaming keeps the whole house up all night
Though we've never touched his closet and his problems are few
Something 'bout his disposition just isn't right

Chorus:
------
    C#m G#m E B
The tender young boy with the life affirming needs
C#m G#m
Waits in the garden
    E
And everybody knows that he's praying for Stan

verse:
All the total strangers on the mountain tops
Quarrel, babble, sometimes they dance
Clouds on the horizon tell of impending doom
You know they seem to be saying that we don't stand a chance

Chorus:
------
C#m F#
Large chunks of evidence were tucked into my shirt
       B G#m
As the navy doctor fell asleep a tense fog? surrounded us
C#m G#m E B
Brilliant lights ignite in the sky
C#m G#m E
Everyone is beautiful if not somewhat unrecognisable

verse:
Sometimes it's as simple as the stakes on a wall
Sometimes it's as hard as a renaissance lute
Stuffed animals into baby ?
You know they'll even laugh at the people we shoot

chorus:
The tender young boy with the life affirming needs
Still waits in the garden
And everybody's sure that he's praying for stan

verse:
Even long lost poets like to regenerate
With new arms and legs they sort the mail
Cast iron officers wander around
The president hopes that he'll grow a tail

Chorus:
------
C#m F#
Manifestations of corporate corpses assemble and
B G#m
Float into the sky at night AIIIEEEE!
C#m F#
Oh damn it configurations play against the gawky savage
B G#m
People starting mayhem ? into the streets of Nowheresville!

End on G#m.
