I Hate You, I Love You 12. Now Everybody's Me 13. Little Man In My Head 14. Anderson, Walkman, Buttholes And How! 1 - Beige Sunshine ------------------ This one's just chords for the moment, there's solo stuff I'll try to get to, but there's such a lot of it, it might take a little while. Not my favourite DM song (although funnily enough I started thinking it was OK while tabbing, um, chording it. which is strange because I usually have the opposite reaction), but... what was I talking about? Oh, yeah. This is the 100th DM guitar tab on my site! (I will admit, there's about 12 by other people, but it's still a milestone. And then again, there's 12 bass tabs at the moment, too, so it's even!) So, I don't know, go out and celebrate or something. ;) Kids Choir Bit: -------------- C# Cheese is the one thing that's indestructible F# How much is your Blue Cross deductible? E Open your eyes to a wicked surprise D You'll lose your mind if you just step inside A They say even Bambi was corruptible C# The flu's coming, yes are you susceptible? F# If only traces of lead were detectable E Open your brain to a new kind of pain D Just step inside and we'll all go insane A Please put your thoughts inside a receptacle Bb You are not one of us Em Your pipes are leaking C You are an ocelot Dm (can't hear whether it's D or Dm here, so I'm assuming Dm) What are you seeking? C# Baboons, they say, are quite understanding F# Ships without rudders aren't worth commanding E Open your skull to a world that is dull D You'll find it all when you shop at the mall A People like you are not worth reprimanding The "Proper" Song: ----------------- The three parts of this song are practically the same (except for a slight variation at the end of 3rd part), but I've put all the chords in anyway, just in case. The Dm is really a riff, but it's kinda hard to figure out, so I've just left it for the moment. Also, I'd recommend the (xx0231) version of Dm, rather than (x57765). It's easier, and the full bar chord doesn't sound quite right in place of the riff. (1:06) Dm I think you need some help I think that you're way off course C Bb Maybe you need a little breather Dm You should get down off that horse Look up into the sky Try to catch your racing thoughts C Bb Before they burn up in the sun Dm Take a walk C Bb Sit in your rocking chair and breathe... F Just breathe C Bb And breathe Dm C Just breathe Bb Dm Welcome to your head C F Trippin' on Wonder Bread Bb Welcome to your head! Solo: ---- The chords for this are exactly the same as the previous bit. (1:56) Dm C Bb Dm C Bb Dm C Bb F C Bb Dm C Bb Dm C F Bb (2:40) Dm Peer into the endless void And see the endless light C Bb Realize there is no time Dm There is only light Feel the heat of the moment Feel the heat of the now C Bb Feel the heat of the BEIGE SUNSHINE Dm C Bb In the back of your mind, and breathe... Dm C Just breathe Bb F And breathe Dm C Let's breathe Bb Dm C Bb F End on F. 2 - Do The Brown Nose --------------------- Again, a lot of this is recited, so I haven't written the chords above all of the lyrics. It's pretty easy to figure out though. Thanks to Justin Daniel, this tab now has the wonderful chorus riff (aka Riff 1). The only thing left now is the solo! I'd be impressed if anyone actually re-enacts this song live! :) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Verse: (most talking bits) ----- E F#m A Chorus: (brown nose bits) ------ E F#m A (with Riff1) Bucky Lewis pointed out that there's really a F#m in there as well. If you can dig it I wanna hear you shout Erlenmeyer Flask (Erlenmeyer Flask) Verse: Alright, I know you loved it the first time You gonna love it even more the second time As once more, we prepare to get down And do some serious big-time brown nosin' Other Bit: Bend your (bend yo') knees (ooh LaLaLa...) End on E. 3 - Methodist Coloring Book --------------------------- Play it loud and scream along! You can pretty much play these chords anywhere. I play them higher up during the verse, and lower down during the other bits, but then pick open E and A chords for the last verse bit, so it's really up to you and what sounds good to you. Timing is approximate, as it's pretty fast and kinda hard to hit all the notes. Riff #2: ------- D#/E D#/E D#/E E---------------------------------- B---------------------------------- G--8/9-9-9--8/9-9-9--8/9-9--------- D--8/9-9-9--8/9-9-9--8/9-9--------- A--6/7-7-7--6/7-7-7--6/7-7--------- E---------------------------------- This is played on the first line of the chorus and goes straight back into the main riff. I'm not entirely sure if the guitar plays this, but the bass definitely does, and if you're playing on your own, you'll need to play it on guitar to make it sound right. Verse: (with Main Riff) ----- I saw you naked, you were chasin' a pig So I led the police to your house and showed 'em where to dig You thought you could live in peace But I saw you naked and I called the police Chorus: ------ Riff #2 Main Riff I saw you naked and I saw the terrible things that you did D G Main Riff I saw you naked and you know it made me sick verse: I saw you naked, you were campin' with scouts I know they earned some merit badges when the lights went out How could you touch those children? Dude, thanks a lot! Play main riff again and end with an E. 7 - If You Love Somebody, Set Them On Fire ------------------------------------------ OK, this was also pretty damn tricky. I'm not 100% on the second verse progression, cause there's that ska rhythm and the bass jumps around a bit and it's often hard to tell if both bass and guitar change or just the bass. However, I've played along and I think it sounds pretty reasonable. I don't think it really matters which versions of the bar chords you play. Play whatever you can reach, cause it's pretty tricky and fast no matter which way you go. I don't know why, really. However, having said that, working out the chords for it almost drove me insane. Several hours of hearing "Sha na na" over and over again was a little too much. Just listen for the rhythm for the Em chord. That's the only slightly different bit. I haven't done the accordion solo, but I will tab it for guitar some time... Solos are for when I'm feeling especially good, cause they always give me a headache and make me hate the song for a couple of weeks, cause I generally have to listen to them 30 or 40 times in a row. Eww. :) Verse: ----- Em There's an old lady who washes her clothes In the same laundromat as me C She told me of her son Em And some shoes that hurt his feet Mean little nails rose up in a bunch C And plunged into his soles Em Filling dirty socks G Em Bm With tiny bloody holes Chorus: ------ C F Bb Em It's shoes and it's feet and the end of the world G It's shoes and it's feet and the end of the world Em Bm Shoes and it's feet and the end of the world C F Bb Em It's shoes and it's feet and the end of the .... verse: There's an old man who said that he came from the same town as my dad He told me of his house and why it smelled so bad Small furry creatures had crawled in the spaces in between the walls Died and they decayed well I guess that's really all chorus: It's small furry creatures and the end of the world It's small furry creatures and the end of the world Small furry creatures and the end of the world It's small furry creatures and the end of the world Instrumental: (accordion solo with these chords) ------------ C G Bb A F Em F Em C G Bb A F Em F Em verse: There is a man who told me a story about a conspiracy He told me how it started and what it meant to me Doctors and lawyers and bankers and priests are Controlled by U.F.O.s (x2) It's doctors and lawyers and the end of the world Bankers and priests and the end of the world chorus: It's doctors and lawyers and the end of the world It's doctors and lawyers and the end of the world It's bankers and priests and the end of the world It's doctors and lawyers and the end of the... Note: The verse and chorus before this point sort of merge together. However, if you keep in your mind the way I've divided it above, the chords should be exactly the same as the previous verses and choruses. There's a solo in there somewhere which I haven't done yet, but if you just play the chords over the background it will be fine for now. verse: There's an old lady who washes her clothes In the same laundromat as me She told me of her son and some SHOES! End on C. 11 - I Hate You, I Love You --------------------------- This is another marvellous piece of work. I find Metaphysical Graffiti to be very patchy... Some great stuff (this one, Now Everybody's Me, Methodist Coloring Book etc) and some bad stuff (The Big Sleazy, Anderson..., Beige Sunshine). Again, this one rules. The lyrics sound like one of their more serious numbers, but again it's the delivery that really does it for this one. The solo will follow some time soon... Intro: ----- C F (x4) Verse: ----- C Am Em C/G (332010) What am I gonna do C Am Em F When I get close to you? It's pretty quick, so these are my best guesses at the chords. Haven't shown the words in relation to the words here, because the words are so quick. You should figure it out though. The riff above should be repeated twice during each verse. verse: Everybody hates Edie Brickell All my favourite shows are on TV All the restaurants serve my favourite food 'Cause now everybody's me verse: Now my apartment's really crowded 'Cause I live there and I'm everybody And everybody's sleeping with my girl But, hey, everybody's me Chorus: ------ D D# Now everybody's me F D# Now everybody's me (x2) These chords don't sound exact. End on G#. 13 - Little Man In My Head -------------------------- This one's pretty easy once you've got the strumming pattern. There's a rather large instrumental bit with weird noises and no clearly audible lyrics that I haven't really tabbed and can't honestly be bothered :) If you really want it, just ask, but the song's fine without it, I think. Intro/Verse: ----------- There's two basic lines that are repeated throughout the intro and the verses. However, I haven't decided to do that, cause I think it's fine this way, and also it makes the tab neater. :) It's funny, but I experienced it again with this one... I hated this song before I tabbed it, but I don't mind it quite as much now. And on the other side, I still can't stand Punk Rock Girl, 2 weeks after I spent 4 hours tabbing out the solo!
