INDEX:
introduction
Introduction:
Portable
web site is a superior technology to transfer a group of lab results
to clients. (Examples below)
features
Features:
-
Multi-color
graphics & text:
You may include
pictures
(black & white, colored) and graphics in the same document.
Also, you may use different color & size for text.
.
-
Group all results
in one document:
All pictures,
graphics and test results are contained in one document.
.
-
The entire document
is sent inside the E. Mail message and not as an attachment.
.
-
Internet Links:
You may build
links
outside the document to the Internet.
.
-
Has all features
and power of the Internet, such as search
feature
.
-
Small Storage
Space:
Require very
little storage space (about same size of an average E. Mail message).
.
-
Portable web
sites are cost effective:
E.
Mail is FREE as compared to high FAX
costs, especially if you wish to offer your services nationally and
worldwide.
.
-
Portable web
sites help your clients in many ways:
-
Client's ability
to forward all the lab results (one document) to other specialists
for easy patient case review.
-
Clients will store
the portable web site lab results on their computers. This is a major improvement
as compared to storage of FAX hard copy in countless folders and file cabinets.
-
Clients are able
to easily search for lab results stored on their computers as compared
to manual search in paper folders.
.
-
Avoid problems
found in sending results by FAX such as:
-
FAX is limited
to sending material in black & white, no color.
-
Quality of
FAX is controlled by the receiving FAX machine, which sometimes
may be compromised.
-
At some offices,
the FAX machine is turned off during non work hours which does not
allow the transmission of results.
-
Busy Tone Signal: Receiving FAX machine is busy and your staff have to keep re-sending same FAX.
-
Pages are missing from received FAX:This is ongoing problem which waste your staff’s time.
.
-
Boost Your
Revenue:
-
By reporting test
results through a Portable web site technology, it will be possible to
provide
services worldwide and to considerably increase the laboratory's market
share.
-
You may increase
your fees and generate more revenue for enhancing your reporting technology.
.
-
Newsletter:
The Portable
web sites is ideal to produce your "Newsletter". At some web
sites, the newsletter was placed at the main web site which greatly compromizes
its effectiveness. Today, there are over 800 million web sites,
so to expect the clients to seek the newsletter at a web site is not realistic.
On the other hand, the newsletter's effectiveness is greatly enhanced when
it is sent by E. Mail to your clients.

Steroid
Sulfatase Deficiency
Example of a metaphase cell that
has been hybridized with the probe for Steroid
Sulfatase Deficiency which is caused
by a microdeletion on the X chromosome. The probe in this
particular case is a mixture of
two separate probes for the X chromosome, both red in color.
The "X cen" probe signal is an internal
control and is located at the X centromere. It allows
for quick identification of the
X chromosome(s). The "Xp22.3" probe signal is located at the
Steroid Sulfatase region at Xp22.3.
Since there are two X chromosomes and only one has the
Steroid Sulfatase gene signal, this
individual is a female carrier for Steroid Sulfatase
Deficiency.

Hassall's
corpuscles
There are few microscopic findings
characteristic for Down syndrome.
One seen here in
thymus
is enlarged cystic Hassall's corpuscles.
The depletion of lymphocytes seen
here represents
the T-cell depletion leading to
immunodeficiency that may be present with Down syndrome.

.4
Occipital
Defect
A large occipital defect has allowed
herniation of most of the cerebrum, seen here radiographically.
The cranial vault develops poorly
with the most of the brain herniated, and there is no way to put it back
in.

Anencephaly
Lack of development of a fetal cranial
vault leads to the neural tube defect known as anencephaly.
