Baptism of the Lord - Jesus
John the Baptist, had been baptizing in the river Jordan, John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus' Elizabeth's son. He spent many years proclaiming the coming of the messaih.
Jesus came one day from Nazareth in Galilee and asked John to Baptize him. John protested saying that he should be baptized by Jesus. But Jesus told him that they needed to do this to fulfill the prophets messages.
Immediately after he was baptized, he was praying and the heavens were opened and a dove came down and rested on Jesus.
Suddenly, a voice from heaven was heard "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." John knew then the Jesus was the Messiah.
