A man ran up to Jesus, knelt down before him, and asked Him. "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" |

The Reading: The story goes on Jesus telling the man about the commandments - and the man answering he had followed all the rules. Then Jesus told him to sell all he has give to the poor and follow him. The man went away sad. Because he was rich and couldn't give up all he had Then Jesus said to His disciples "How hard it is for those who are rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven." The disciples were amazed.. and Jesus continues saying. "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." The disciples asked "Then who can be saved." Jesus answered them "For human beings it is impossible but not for God. All things are possible for God." |

INSTRUCTIONS: The pictures represent (1) Camel covered in "children's toys" and (2) Camel with the good things Jesus wants us to have Faith Love Peace, and sharing. Take the uncovered camel = and load the camel with the toys (toys can be pictures taped on stones which are then taped on the camel (velcro works best) as the camel is loaded he gets heavier and heavier until you knock him down with the weight of "materialistic" things. Then load the camels with feathers that have words like LOVE, FAITH, PEACE, and Sharing on them - as many feathers as are loaded the camel will not fall.
To explain sharing give the first child 2 of something - a toy, a cross, a medal and the next child nothing. Then explain they have to share by passing one object to person next to them.. |
