Skiing
Dan and Maria Skiing at Montgenevre, France (by Turin Italy)
January, 2007
If it wasn't for my wife, Maria, I most likely wouldn't have gotten into skiing.  Missouri isn't exactly known for its wonderful skiing opportunites!  Fortunately I've hade some great opportunites here in Germany to learn skiing in the Alps with Maria, who is an excellent teacher : )  One of these days I might be good enough for this.......
But that will have to wait for now.

In the past three years I've been lucky enough to go skiing at a number of different places.  I would have to say I've had the best time in Austria, especially Kitzbuhel and Brixen im Thale.  If you ever want to go skiing and party the entire day on the slopes and night in the pubs I'd recommend Kirchberg which is just west of the exclusive town of Kitzbuehel in Austria.  No other place has such beautiful scenry and nightlife together!  Kirchberg is just roaring with pubs and the slopes are also no exception.  Most of the slopes have at least two "Huetten" or large cabins which blair out typical Alpine party music and serve tons of beer and food.  Also the  "Gluehwein" (hot spiced wine) is very popular because of its
warming effect.

Below are some links to the web sites and maps of places I've gone skiing with Maria in order of my favorite to least favorite.

Pictures of my skiing trips can be found on my poor neglected
blog
