| 25 BOOKS CAMPAIGN |
| Our children have the responsibility of reading 25 books. Much of this reading will be done at home so that the school hours are used to concentrate on schoolwork. Children will record information about the books they read in their Book Logs. In each classroom, you should see a Reader's Response Wall on which the children post their book reviews. | By getting involved in your child's reading, you are giving him or her the best opportunity to become a fluent reader. And your child's ability to read is the best way to ensure that he or she does well in school. The secret to reading with your child is to make it a warm, loving and enjoyable experience. At home, have kids read easy books. These books are to be read for pleasure. We want children to have fun reading them, to dig into them and not want to put them down until each book is finished. If children read books that are too difficult, he or she won't be able to stick with them. They will be frustrated, and will put the books down, unread. We need your help in making sure that your child is finding books that are easy and fun for him or her to read. |

Los ninos van a anotar en un cuaderno especial, que en ingles se llama "Book Log". En cada salon de clase va a haber un lugar en la pare, llamado en ingles "Readers Response Wall" donde los ninos van a colgar tarjetas con lo que ellos opinen de cada libro que lean. Si usted desea saber mas detalles sobre la campana, hable con el maestro para que se los de. |

| Si usted participa en esta campana para que sus hijos lean, les estara dando la mejor oportunidad para que lean muy bien. Sin duda, la habilidad que desarollen sus hijos para leer es la mejor manera de asegurarles que saquen buenas notas en la escuela. En la casa los ninos deben leer libros faciles. Los van a leer para entretenerse. Queremos que los ninos de diviertan leyendolos y quieran dejar de leer hasta terminarlos. En cambio, si los ninos leen libros que sen dificiles, no van a querer seguir leyendo, se sentiran frustrados y finalmente los dijaran sin terminar. Por eso necesitamos su ayuda, para asegurarnos que los ninos se diviertan al leer libro faciles. |

| Make your home a "reading home". > Provide 20-30 minutes of daily quiet, uninterrupted time for your child to read. > Find a comfortable spot where your child can read Read out loud to your child. > This is a time to have fun. > Read with expression, laugh together. > Discuss the book with your child. Have your child read out loud to you every day. > Ask your child to read you and other family members a story. > Try and arrange it so that your child reads for at least 20 minutes. > Focus your conversation on the meaning of the story. > Don't focus on your child's mistakes. |

Remember, it doesn't matter in what language you read with your child. The important this is to read, read, read. |
