Title:  Bring Me Sunshine (2/?)
Author:  DM
E-Mail:  [email protected]

Distribution:  I would be thrilled! Please drop me a line and let me know though. I'd love to come and visit!

Spoiler Warning: "Requiem"

Rating:  G

Classification: SR

Key Words: Mulder/Scully Married

Disclaimer: Hmm, do I even need to write this? If I were Chris Carter, I would be a man. (Thank goodness I'm not) I enjoy being a woman. Furthermore, I wouldn't have to write fanfiction I could make good things happen every week. Which is something someone needs to start doing very soon, especially with all the talk about <gasp> Scully's  new partner! Enough said.

Summary: "Birth has and will always be a miracle, but not too many ever feel the true significance of new life. For Dana Scully that significance is all she knows."

Notes: Okay, here is part 2 for all of you that asked me to continue. I want to apologize, however, for two things. First, I'm sorry that this section is so short. Second, I tried so hard to put more dialogue in my work, but somehow it never came. I know that I always enjoy fan fictions with tons and tons of dialogue, but for some reason I have more fun writing descriptive work. I love writing what goes on their (Mulder and Scully's) minds. Most likely it's because we don't get go there in the show. Both of their emotions are always so heavily guarded. But, I don't have to tell you guys that. Anyway, thanks so much for taking time to read this and please let me know what you think! I have an idea for some good conversation, but I am interested to see how this one carries out before I post anything new.

The sun was bright as it traveled through the open window and directly onto Fox Mulder's face. A curse almost escaped his dry lips before he remembered the wish he had made the night before. Sunshine. Sunshine was his new life; sunshine was the beautiful woman curled up at his side. Sunshine was the miracle residing safely in her now swelling womb. Sunshine was the new life he had just recently permitted himself to live. Yes, he welcomed the sunshine but was quite certain his still sleeping wife would not feel the same so early in the morning.

Carefully Mulder removed his arm, which was securely wrapped around his wife's waist. He made his way to the window and quietly let down the shades to darken the room once more. Before he made his way back to the bed he took a moment to admire the form still lying there. Her hand lay possessively on top of her stomach, which Mulder affectionately liked to call her "bulge". It was a common site; rarely did she do anything without keeping a protective hand on her protruding abdomen. If one watched her carefully, he would notice that each time she performed this smallest of acts, a smile would light in her eyes and very subtly make it's way to her lips. Birth has and will always be a miracle, but not too many ever feel the true significance of new life. For Dana Scully that significance is all she knows.

She stirred realizing that her warm companion no longer resided next to her. A wandering hand reached out in search but came back empty-handed. Unwilling to get up just yet, Scully pulled her husband's still warm pillow close and wrapped her free arm around it. She inhaled, smiled, and drifted back into peaceful slumber.

Mulder could not prevent the grin that spread across his lips as he viewed his wife's unconscious actions. They were raw symbols of the pure love she possessed for him. They signified her need for him. No one had ever needed him before. But Scully did, just as much as he needed her. Suddenly, he felt a little jealous of his pillow and quickly made his way back into bed. It was early to be up anyhow, not to mention it being the weekend.

"Uhmmm Where were you?" Her eyes remained shut.

"Admiring you. Now, go back to sleep." He gently pressed a kiss to her temple.

"Sweet dreams, Mulder."

"I love you."

"Love you," she replied in a sleepy slur.

Mulder wrapped her up into his strong embrace, daring anything or anyone to try and take her away. He placed one large hand over her smaller one which lay in it's usual and rightful place.

As they slept, the sun shone brighter and brighter.

End of part 2

Okay, how did I do? Feedback is always extremely appreciated!
