Magical
By DM

I dont think Ive mentioned yet how beautiful you look tonight. Youre practically glowing, Scully, and my admittedly large ego has me believing that *I* am actually somewhat responsible for this newfound glee. What is it that happened to make you so ridiculously giddy after an event I would classify as incredibly embarrassing and downright disturbing?

Perhaps it was the kiss Perhaps it was the one life altering moment where our souls connected on a level I dont even dare fantasize about for fear that real life might never provide such an opportunity. Yes, the kiss. It has to be the kiss

It begins when you dangle the Bureau credit card in my face and let out a giggle I havent heard slip past your lips in months. A beautiful sound that brings me more pleasure than I dare describe.

Hand in hand we leave the sound stage for an evening out on the town, courtesy of J. Edger Hoover.

Hailing a cab in Los Angeles is a much more difficult feat than I originally thought. Nevertheless, it gives us a few quiet moments together. And, who in their right mind would complain about that?

Your hand is still in mine and I squeeze it. Where to?

Dinner? You smile and gaze up at me, eyes burrowing deep into my own.

The blue of your eyes shimmer in the moonlight and Im swept away in them. Ive always been a great admirer of your eyes. They serve as a window into your soul and I can see right through to your heart. Tonight, Im simply overcome with what I see there. Theres warmth, joy and something I havent seen since the very early months of our partnership. Theres peace contentment. My heart is about ready to burst Im so happy that youre happy. Since when did my well being depend so much upon your own?

I realize, that as corny as it sounds, it did from the very beginning.

Dinners good. I finally reply.

I see you shiver slightly and without thinking, move behind you and place my arms around you. Your head fits perfectly under my chin and I could be mistaken, but I think I hear you release a contented sigh. Maybe I still have what it takes. Goodness knows its been years.

A clap of thunder echoes in the distance and we both simultaneously look above us. Looks like rain, you whisper.

And they say it never rains in southern California. I hear a small chuff escape your lips and feel a thrill as I notice your hand rising to cover mine. My only reaction is to hold you tighter, so I do.

Where to? The cab driver asks.

Before I can open my mouth, you answer, Universal City.

I look at you, curiously for a moment I wonder if maybe youve had this planned all along, then I chastise myself for being ridiculous.

You shrug, Ive always wanted to go.

Thats good enough for me, so I nod my head and the driver peels away from the curb and FOX Studios where the disaster Wayne Federman calls a movie will hopefully never see the light of day outside the studio walls.

Come to think of it, isnt it a bit odd to premiere a movie inside a studio theater? Thats not how they usually do it, is it, Scully?

Hmm? I can see Ive confused you, not for the first time and most certainly not for the last.

Ive never been to a Hollywood premiere, but dont they usually hold them at Graumans Chinese Theatre or someplace like that?

I dont know.

And that is the end of it. If I werent so mad at Federman, I might actually be curious enough to ask.

You hand the cab driver the credit card and Im relieved this little journey isnt coming out of my pocket. Cab prices are brutal here.

We enter City Walk and Im amazed by how many people are still out and roaming. Universal is a happening city. Suddenly I have a brilliant idea, and as most of my brilliant ideas go, I show no hesitation in sharing it with you as soon as it pops into my head.

Lets check out the theme park, Scully.

You glance at your watch, the ever responsible one in this partnership, and look up at me, a glint in your beautiful blue eyes.

Wed only have an hour, Mulder. Your face breaks into an unspeakably brilliant smile, Lets go tomorrow.

Like I can argue with that! I take your hand and am overly pleased with our current situation. Right now Id almost be willing to thank Federman for dragging us out here simply because I am able to spend this moment with you. And on the Bureaus dollar too wait til the auditors get a look at *this* trip.

Your eyes light up as they spot the Hard Rock Caf. Have you ever been, you ask? Theres one just down the street from the office and I never have.

Lets go, I try not to sound as excited as I feel. Whats gotten into me? Well, I know whats gotten into me, but Im still not accustomed to admitting it to myself, muchless out loud.

Dinner consists of a few burgers and some chocolate malts, which has me smiling again because you never eat this way. I still get a laugh when I remember the non-fat tofutti rice dreamcicle you once brought to the office and spilled all over my work. Okay, so it was only those old box scores. And, yeah *we* spilled it, but whos keeping track?

Youre well, youre healthy, youre happy and knowing this adds to my increasingly good mood. It must be our surroundings Never let it be said that Hollywood isnt a magical place. It is. Especially when a little of that Scully magic is stirred in.

We finish and as I stand to leave youre suddenly in front of me, taking my hand and pulling me to the elevator. Its like a museum, Mulder, you explain. Lets start at the top.

We stand close on the ride to the third story. We dont have a reason to; were the only two. I know Ive become very aware of you and I wonder if the feeling is mutual. Every touch, every glance, I feel. Its like an electrical current running a marathon through my veins.

The autographed guitars and posters are all a big blur. All I can seem to focus on is you and your excitement at our surroundings. I never pegged you as a fan of rock n roll, but every once and a while I get a strange feeling the younger Dana Scully is far removed from the woman you are today.

Youre all about John Lennon tonight and I just love the wonder I see in your eyes. All of a sudden, youre speaking, When I was little I refused to believe that the Beatles had broken up. You glance down, almost embarrassed, I swore that Id sneak out one day and prove my father wrong.

The little rebel, huh?

You know me Ive lost your attention as your eyes wander past me at the far wall next to the elevator.

Out of curiosity I turn to see whats captivated your interest. Im pleased to note that your hand finds mine just as my eyes rest upon The King. Well, not The King himself, but a costume he wore at one of his very last concerts.

Lets check it out, you encourage and push me towards the display. We stop to simply admire it for a moment. I know you dont particularly enjoy his music, but you respect my opinion and give me all the time I want without growing impatient.

The King lives, Scully

In your dreams, Mulder.

My Scully, ever the skeptic.

I buy an extra large Hard Rock tee-shirt for me and slip a matching small to the cashier as well. You dont see my slight of hand as youre busy digging through a basket of souvenir pins. I think Ill surprise you with it tomorrow. I use my own card, this ones on me.

We exit the over priced shop which is just to the side of the restaurant and find ourselves in front of a movie theater. We look at each other, exchanging a silent conversation and mutually agree upon passing it by. Weve seen one too many flicks tonight anyhow.

You stop in front of the PEZ shop and again Im a little surprised at your interest. I havent had a PEZ since I was a little girl, you explain and make your way into the store.

You pick up a few action figure candy dispensers for your nephews and, glancing discreetly in my direction, nonchalantly grab a green alien faced PEZ. I know its for me. How many times have I told you, Scully theyre gray, not green. I pretend not to notice, and figure Ill let you surprise me whenever you feel the moment is right.

Stores are beginning to close and we decide to head back to the main entrance. You brush up against me several times before I take initiative and wrap my arm around your shoulder. I can tell Ive made a good decision when I feel you lean into me.

Were staying at the Courtyard by Marriott this time and its just around the corner from the FOX lot. Im slightly shocked but more than pleased when you ask the driver to drop us off out front of the Studio.

We stroll down Pico and turn left onto Avenue of the Stars; its a bit of a walk, but you appear to be content and Im sure not complaining. I dont want the evening to end either.

Were about ready to cross onto Olympic and I notice a film crew on the other side of the overpass, in front of the Hotel. Look, Scully theyre filming something.

Its amazing how much goes into making a movie You snake your arm around my waist so I tighten my grip on your shoulders. Can you imagine what it takes to make a weekly television show?

I never much thought about it before, but it has to be grueling.

Were almost to the set when a security guard stops us, asking us to wait while they finish the shot.

Ever the observant one, I check out our surroundings and after a moment notice a man in a folding chair behind a monitor. He stands, removing his headset, CUT! Print. Check the gate, he calls out then directs his next comment to a man with a walkie talkie, get me the kissing couple.

The man looks up a bit nervously and crosses the distance. Theyre a no show.

Excuse me? I assume he must be the director.

Ive got Central on the phone and theyre searching for a rush call

I dont care what you have to do, Dieter. I want the kissing couple here in 20.

Ill get someone.

The director walks away, angry, mumbling to someone about the angle and location of the next shot, before disappearing in a trailer.

Dieter walks towards us and sighs loudly, clasping the security guard on the shoulder. What a night, man, he shakes his head. The security guard offers a sympathetic smile and turns to us. You can go ahead, folks thanks for waiting.

Dieter looks up just as we begin to walk away. Excuse me, he stops us. He looks us up and down and smiles, checking his watch. You guys feel like making some easy money?

Doing what? You ask, even though Im sure youve been listening just as closely as I have to Dieters dilemma with the director.

Some extras never showed. If youre interested, the job is yours.

This could be very interesting, but I leave the decision up to you. You hesitate for a moment and Dieter becomes increasingly impatient.

My job depends on this, guys youd be doing me a huge favor.

You tentatively nod your head and Dieters grin practically explodes off his face. Make-up!!

My stomach is in a million little knots and youre so close Im about ready to go crazy. Theyre setting up the shot and need us to stand together as they rehearse the camera angles and fix the lighting. This is crazy. Theyre creating moonlight out of a tall bright light and a blue filter.

Youre beautiful in the soft light, even if it is artificial, and for a split second I can almost forget about the commotion all around us and focus entirely on you. Your eyes havent left mine since they asked us to move closer and Im trying to read you, but its becoming difficult. I cant tell if youre enjoying this or have suddenly realized youve made a very big mistake.

Dieter approaches us and instructs us that we need to begin kissing when the director yells, background. Thats us, the background, were never action.

After all these years, its almost ironic that the first time I actually get to kiss you, and I mean REALLY kiss you, is in front of a camera and on cue. It just doesnt seem right. But, again, Im not complaining. Ill take what I can get.

The actors, and I dont recognize either, rehearse once, and then its our turn.

The director takes his seat behind the monitor. And background. Thats our cue and before I have a chance to move towards you, your mouth is already on mine. Your lips are soft and hungry, and Im swept away. I dont even hear the director call action.

Its all over now and were standing in front of your room. The shot took about 7 takes and they only needed us for one more angle, which turned out to be another 5 or 6 takes. Needless to say we did a lot of kissing and Im pleased to note that your lips are pleasantly swollen. I did that. I cant help but be proud and the dreamy look in your eyes is kicking my expanding ego up to new heights.

Good night, Mulder. You turn to unlock the door and I make a split decision to take initiative for the first time this evening. I trap you in between my arms, placing one on either side of you as I lean against the door.

Good night, Scully. I move in and even though Ive kissed you many times this evening, the others simply dont compare to what we share at this very moment.

You respond by reaching your hands to my hair, drawing me closer. Hollywood *is* magical theres just no other way to explain whats happened here.

I break away slightly, just enough to look into your eyes. Were both panting quietly and I can feel your breath softly brush my chin. Your hands have slipped down to your sides and I take the key, which is now hanging loosely from your finger tips.

I unlock the door and open it, pushing you gently back into the room. Sweet dreams, Scully.

Night, Mulder. The look in your eyes is almost too much to bear and I watch with a grin as you blush slightly and quietly shut the door.

I walk one door over and pull out my key The kiss it was definitely the kiss.

End.

Pleeeeeeaaaaase send me feedback! Id really love to hear what you think!
