Born and raised in the Chicago area, David has been playing the Organ and Piano since the age of 5. His diverse background of Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Classical styles have earned him a reputation as one of the most versatile musicians in the DFW Metroplex.
As Music Director / Band Leader at the famous Plaza Theatre, he is recognized for his series of award-winning live music productions. Themes included Jazz, Rock, Blues, Country, and Gospel. Guest artists included Willie Nelson, Steven Pride, and the Light Crust Doughboys.
In addition to his solo performances, he is regularly on stage with the popular Dallas-based vocal group, "Yancey Stevens and The City Slickers." In addition, it is no surprise to find him jamming with other bands in the Jazz and R&B scene.
His position at historic Webb Chapel UMC allows him to further exercise his skills, writing, arranging and performing a blend of Traditional and Contemporary Worship music. Conductor of Webb Chapel's Chancel Choir, he is also responsible for the revival of the Buchannan Handbell Choir, and is founder/band leader of the contemporary music team, "River of Faith".
With a teaching background spanning over 25 years, David is comfortable with students of all age groups and ability levels. He suggests a well-rounded musical experience, to develop an appreciation for all music. The rules of Music Theory and Technique apply to all styles and periods. A lesson can always be learned, whether it be in a Beethoven Sonata or a current hit song.
David teaches in his studio at Webb Chapel UMC, and can also come to your home. Price for services is competitively affordable.
