Mirror Desert (Western Sahara)

What once was the magnificent desolation of windblown sand has now become a near blinding expanse of solar panels and monitoring equipment, occasionally sparsely broken up by substations, roads, natural caves, rock formations, and occasional ruins of older structures from the bygone ages when traders plied these sands atop camels and wagons. The largest generating plant ever built, all for the glory of Dr. Albert W. Wily. The heat is incredible, and the sight is breathtaking. But if you don't have a good reason to be here, you might be best leaving.

[Radio] Tightbeam transmission to Attraction Bunny: You say, "Corporal, the engineering teams require your aid for the final repair process. Report to outside the docking bay."

Attraction Bunny has arrived.

Shining Firefly is busy helping the drones and engineers set up the first of the large generators that should help Africa have a steady source of power. Once this one is done, they just need to set up three more, build a structure around them for their defence, and finish repairing the solar panels, no big deal.

[Radio] Tightbeam transmission: Attraction Bunny says, "Yes Sir, on my way."

Storm Owl is outside the ship, standing on the harsh desert ground along with a small team of engineering gumbies. He and his crew are positioned near the starboard section of the mighty battleship, peering up at the newly installed, thus far untested, engine. The engine itself is massive, stretching nearly a third of a mile long, jutting out powerfully from the rest of the ship. There's cables and wires running from the engine to various equipment down on the ground near Storm and the team.

Attraction Bunny exits the Fortress V, glancing about at the land that she finds herself in. One thing about a flying fortress, you never know where you actually are. She notes Storm and the group and wanders over. "You requested my presense Sir?"

Shining Firefly continues working. It is a rather tedious process that involves callibrating all of motors and drives to reduce the amount of energy lost due to friction and drag. It also includes hooking up the generators to the power sources, and programing the computer to regulate the power accordingly. Right now, they are just bolting it to its foundation.

Storm Owl turns away from the engineering team towards his former dodgeball and tag team partner. If she's as good at her job as she is at pegging Sigma in the head with a ball and beating the tar out of Neo-Arcadians, then we should be in good shape. "Ah, yes, Attraction." The war bird gestures up at the engine, "The repair work has been completed. All final checks appear to check out. However I wish to have an engineering officer here to oversee the final tests and first live operation of the engine as we lift off." Read: Gumbies suck. Storm opens a radio frequency to Shining and requests his presence as well. "Lt. Firefly, unless you are at a critical stage of your reconstruction, I would like you and Attraction to assist with the powering up of the new engine.

"

Attraction Bunny glances towards the engineering team for a moment, giving a brief wave, before turning back to Storm Owl "Oh, of course." She nods, moving to look over the data readouts for some of the most recent tests the team had performed. "I'd be happy to help out and lend an experienced eye."

Shining Firefly receieves the transmission and says, "Very well sir." He then flies up and out from the construction area and heads over to the newly installed engine. Upon arriving, he lands and almost immediately starts leaning on his cane as if he needs it to support himself. He then gives a warm smile and nod to both Attraction and Storm. "Greetings, to both of you. And how can I be of service today?"

Storm Owl nods at Shining's arrival and replies, "We're ready to begin using the engine, Shining, and I do not want there to be any mistakes." Again, because gumbies suck compared to real characters. A member of the engineering crew hands out a datapad to both officers that outlines the test. It's really complicated, and involves essentially whatever you two OOCly want it to include :-) Storm Owl takes a step back. His knowledge of the ship's engineering needs is impressive, but can't compare to two seasoned veterans in the field. "The ship is ready to begin liftoff on your command." he tells the both of them.

Attraction Bunny nods as she takes the datapad, scanning through the current data for the engine. Recalling the previous tests she just looked at results from, she sees nothing out of the ordinary so far. "Looks good to me." she comments.

Shining Firefly walks over to see the datapad in Attraction Bunnies hand. As he looks at it he too sees very little wrong with it. "I must agree... these results seem to show that the engines have been well callibrated and should run smoothly."

Shining Firefly says, "However, that does not mean that a few tests cannot be run..."

Storm Owl nods to the pair of them and gestures to the Repliforce grampa, "By all means, Shining." he says. No sense in taking risks, right? The captain meanwhile activates his radio just to let everyone else know what's going on. Although it'd make a great practical joke, he doesn't want anyone thinking there's an earthquake going on as the ship lifts off.

[Radio: (B) Secure] Storm Owl transmits, "All hands, this is the Captain. Under Lt. Shining Firefly and Cpl. Attraction Bunny's supervision, the ship will be taking off from its current berth in the Mirror Desert. Everyone should be at their posts in case of an emergency."

[Radio: (B) Secure] Flame Hyenard pfts. "CALLIFTHERESOMETHINGEXCITING."

Attraction Bunny nods to Shining Firefly "I agree, we do need to watch for high frequency vibration while the ship is mobile."

Shining Firefly grins and says, "Ah yes... of course. If the vibration nears the natural frequency of the ship, the whole thing will be likely to fall apart." He then calls several of his drones from the construction site and adds, "But first I think we should make sure that all of air ducts and passages are clear from unwanted debris that could severely hinder the performance or even damage the engine." With that, he sends his drones to patrol the exhaust ports, air ducts, and all other imaginable passage ways.

Storm Owl listens to the two engineers geek it up and idly shakes his head at Flame's idiotic response. A shame Crescent didn't finish the job when they had their disagreement. As he's the odd man out on this little conversation, Storm Owl merely hangs by and awaits and orders they need to give him. He's patient, and doesn't mind waiting.

Attraction Bunny ahhs "Quite true, afixing the engine would have disturbed quite a bit of debris."

Shining Firefly leans on his cane as he keeps a mental connection between himself and the six drones that are currently flying around the interior of the engine. They are fast little creaturesa and as a result they do not have a to wait long before small pieces of metal start falling out the exhaust portals of the engine. They are not big pieces of debris, but enough to cause a small pain in the neck. A few minutes later, the drones themselves exit the engine and return to their work on the generator. He then gives a proud smile and annouces, "The engines have been cleared of the debris and have been primed to ignite. Unless Attraction Bunny has any reason not to, I do believe that you may warm up the engine to get it running."

Storm Owl inclines his head to Shining and opens up a radio frequency to the bridge, "Begin powering up the engines. Bring them to 25 percent and hold it there for further testing." He glances at Attraction and Shining to make sure this is alright with the both of them. They can no doubt monitor whether there's anything wrong with the new engine as the power levels increase. Unless either of the engineers object, there's a loud hum as the six engines on the huge craft begin to warm up...

Attraction Bunny gives another check through the data on the datapad, just wanting to make sure everything is set. Nodding, she smiles "Looks like we're ready to fly now."

Shining Firefly observes the engine as it powers up. He switches his optics to be more focused on wave patterns of the vibrations in the engines and so far they appear to be withing the standard level and do not threaten the ship at all. He then gives an approving nod to Attraction Bunny and says, "What is your opinion of this level of operation?"

Storm Owl watches the readings as well, and everything looks just fine to him. The members of the engineering team are all monitoring different readouts on the engine and the rest of the ship, and nobody sees anything wrong thus far. Storm Owl glances towarrds Attraction to see the answer to Shining's question.

Attraction Bunny taps on the datapad, scanning through various strings of gathered datum. She watches carefully for a moment, prepared to make use of her magnetic abilities if anything goes awry, but the data is pretty much when she would expect it. "It looks good, I think we can go to higher power."

Shining Firefly smiles as the results match his own and nods to Storm Owl.

Storm Owl nods to Attraction and orders the bridge, "Slowly bring the engine up to full power." Storm Owl looks back at the readout, and then to the giant craft. The ship's engines are beginning to take on their normal energetic glow, and the mile long battlestation appears to be prepared to lift off back to her domain in the sky.

Attraction Bunny follows the readout, but expects there to be no major problems, judging by the datapad.

Shining Firefly continues to visually oberse the vibrations and their frequencies and is pleased that they remain within the safe zone, "I trust that my collegue would agree that the ship appears ready to take flight."

Storm Owl finally gives the order, "Set course 000 mark 090. Lift off velocity." he says. The Fortress V rumbles and her engines, now fully powered up and repaired to their maximum capacity, slowly lift the massive craft from the ground. Dust is spewed everywhere from the departure, and the very air between the ship and the ground shimmers due to the intense heat. The cables going from the engine to the various equipment snap off, as designed. Storm Owl watches as once again the Fortress V flies, hovering about one hundred metres above the ground, majestically shading and protecting anyone below.

Attraction Bunny smiles "She would indeed. I see nothing approaching even moderate levels. It should be quite safe." As the ship lifts up, she continues to watch to readout "Looks like it's been successful." she nods.

Shining Firefly nods in agreement when he receives some sort of transmission from his drones and says, "If you will excuse me, it appears that I am needed at the construction site. I do believe that Attraction Bunny is capable of making sure everything works fine on her own. I bid you good day and happy hunting." With that he flies off to the construction site.

Storm Owl continues to look up at the ship in the sky. He offers a grateful nod to both engineers, "Indeed, Attraction. Thank you for your assistance," he says to the both of them. Cables are dropped in case anyone who can't fly needs a ride back up to the ship." Storm Owl looks towards the engineering rabbit and asks, "Are there any further tests required?"

Attraction Bunny hmms softly, glancing up at the ship "No, I don't really think there is any need. If some of the readings were reaching moderate levels, I would suggest it, but all lie quite happily within the safe levels." She steps out of the way as the cable drops, landing beside her, and is glad they though about non-aerials.

Storm Owl inclines his head, "Very well, Corporal. Thank you again for your assistance." Storm Owl spreads his wings and takes off from the ground, planning to visit engineering to make sure everything is a-ok there. Then he'll be back on the bridge where he belongs. It's good to have his ship flying once more.

Attraction Bunny smiles brightly "Oh, no problem Sir. Just glad I could help." She tucks the datapad away, grabbing hold of the cable. It's time to go home.

Title:  F5: Back Where It Belongs

        *** TEXT ONLY ***

With Lt. Shining Firefly and Cpl. Attraction Bunny overseeing the final checks and the powering up sequence, I am able to report that the Fortress V battleship is now once again fully armed and operational. Currently we are positioned over our landing site, but all systems have checked out. Colonel, I suggest that we set course for the African Rainforest to quell any further fighting in the area. I have spoken with Shining Firefly, and he assures me that, in the event of an attack, he and the other engineers currently rebuilding the power station should be able to hold out long enough for the ship to return so long as we leave a military detachment behind to assist. I have drawn up a patrol system to give us advance warning of any assault on Shining Firefly's operation. I await your approval, Colonel.
