Log: Intruder Drill Friday 9EDT Tue Oct 12 Storm Owl
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voiceover.
"Convoy
47T has arrived at the ship safely after the attack by the Robot Masters. A
setback was avoided by our successful defence. As the ship's needs have been
taken care of for the moment, I now turn my attention to the ship's crew.
Accordingly, there shall be an Emergency Intruder Alert drill this Friday, at
2100 hours Eastern Daylight Times. Our intruder for the evening shall be
Repliforce's ninja, Mimos."
"For this
scenario, Mimos shall be serving as an enemy spy sent to steal information from
the Fortress V's computer banks. All Repliforce troopers on duty shall be
expected to participate in the drill. The 'enemy' has intimate knowledge of the
ship, as well as full access to her entire schematics. Given her skills in
avoiding detection, I expect this should serve as an excellent challenge. Any
damage will be simulated via hitpoint forcefields, including sabotage and
damage to the ship. Storm Owl out."
OOC: Friday,
9pm EDT, Mimos versus all of Repliforce! Essentially, we chase, and she runs
around while making our lives miserable in the process and making us all look
like fools. Mostly non-combat RP. Should be loads o' fun.

Fortress V - Bridge
The true brains of the Repliforce
Fortress, the bridge is always bustling with activity as reploids move in and
out, the crew here always watching out for the systems, subsystems, and weapons
of the might Fortress V. Comfortable couches with long panels allow the bridge
crew to sit while commanding the vessel, while other stations allow people to
stand as they work at them. A combination transparisteel window/viewscreen
rests at the front of the room, and a large steering wheel, seemingly taken
from a pirate's vessel, rests in the back of the room, its purpose seemingly
decorative. Doors here lead to the offices of Colonel and General, as well as
the ready room.

"Ohhhhh! That's nice," Iris says cheerfully, as if
Hi-Max had told her his function was flower arranging. "Well I'm sure
General will have plenty of great missions to send you on...have you met him
yet?"
Hi-Max gives Iris a slight nod, "I've only met General
briefly and I look forward to being in his presence again."
"I am certain you will get your chance, Hi-Max."
Comes the voice from the aft section of the bridge. The door to the ready room
wooshes open and Storm Owl steps out, having apparently caught the tail end of
Hi-Max's comment. "Given your performance against King during our invasion
of the Upper Nile sector, I would expect you will be fighting alongside General
within due time." Thanks, Captain Recap! The Fortress Commander scans the
bridge with his beady optics, nodding to Major Iris.
Hi-Max turns around as he hears Storm Owl's voice,
"Thank you for the kind words sir, I was just doing my job. What anyone in
Repliforce would have done had they been in the same situation."
Storm Owl strides to the command chair and sits down at his
post, tapping in a few keys into the armrest computer terminal.
"Perhaps." he replies to Hi-Max, sounding doubtful of that.
"Nonetheless, Hi-Max, it is clear you have potential. I urge you not to squander
it as many others with such power have done." He looks up from his console
and asks, "Will you be participating in the Emergency Intruder Alert
drill?"
Hi-Max takes a step towards Storm Owl as he sits down at his
post, "I don't plan on squandering anything or sitting by as long as there
is evil out there sir. As for the drill I will be participating, I need to
familiarize myself with the Fortress even more, this should prove to be a
perfect opportunity."
Storm Owl nods his approval. So many troopers possess
considerable power, but they don't have the brains to go along with it. As a
result, an oppertunity to strengthen the position of Repliforce is lost.
"Good." Storm taps a few more buttons on the computer, calling up a
levelled map of the Fortress V on the main viewer. It flickers from deck to
deck, cycling through them all. There's red pulsating beacons at certain
locations. "These are the positions that I expect Mimos to be attacking.
All key sabotage points on the ship. As well, there is her objective to
download information from the network from different terminals." Storm Owl
does not know which terminals, as that would ruin the game.
Hi-Max takes yet another step closer towards Storm Owl, he
observes the various positions being shown on the monitor. "Yes sir. Those
points shall be protected to the best of our capabilities during the drill.
Although this may be a drill and some may see this as a game, I will do all
that is possible to make sure Mimos does not reach his objective."
Mimos is a girl. But don't worry; I make this sort of
mistake constantly. "Good. Any damage done to personnel shall be simulated
via hitpoint forcefields similar to those often used during the Battle &
Chase game. Damage to the ship will be simulated by the computer. As a result,
I am most curious to see whether she will focus on reaching the terminals, or
deviate from her objectives in order to sabotage other parts of the ship in
order to slow us down." Storm Owl's apparently real big on this pre-game
chess match. The sheer possibilities with all the strategies that might be
used.
Iris has been busy routing incoming calls while Storm Owl
and Hi-Max discuss things. That's the nature of comm work; sometimes it's dead,
and other times it's busy.
Hi-Max listens to Storm Owl as he tries to predict what
Mimos will do. "Understood sir."
Storm Owl turns away from Hi-Max briefly and peers at Iris,
keeping one optic on the still-changing main viewer of the FV's decks.
"Major. Do you know when the next frequency alteration will occur? With
the end of Battle & Chase, I am mildly concerned that our codes will have
been cracked by enemy hackers by now." Storm Owl's somewhat paranoid about
being extra careful.
"Oh, it can be pretty soon, if you'd like," Iris
says, turning to look at Storm Owl. "I just have to clear it through my
brother first."
Hi-Max stares at the two, "If you don't mind I will
head to my quarters before the drill starts."
Iris says, "OK, nice to meet you, Hi-Max!"
Storm Owl nods, but raises his hand slightly, "Thank
you, Major. As I plan on using the radio throughout this drill, there is no
reason to rush." Afterall, this isn't exactly super-secret information
that they're going to be transmitting tonight. Storm Owl nods to Hi-Max.
"Not at all, Hi-Max."
Hi-Max nods to both of them as he takes his leave, the drill
will be more realistic if he's in some other part of the Fortress instead of on
the bridge.
Hi-Max enters the Turbolifts.
Hi-Max has left.
[Radio: (A) Main] Mimos transmits, "Hello!"
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission to Mimos: You say, "If
you are prepared, Mimos, shall I lay out the ground rules for the crew?"
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission: Mimos says, "Okay.
Should I go hide somewhere to start?"
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission to Mimos: You say, "I
leave that to you. I will be beginning the drill by announcer an intruder is
aboard."
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission: Mimos says,
"Okay."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "All hands, this
is the Captain. All crew participating in tonight's drill have been issued a
hitpoint forcefield. All weaponry should thus be set to its lowest, harmless
setting. Our objective is to stop the intruder from infiltrating our ranks and
downloading the set information from the Fortress V network."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "As this is
non-essential information, the Chatter frequency shall be used in place of our
main, secure lines."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "All individuals
and systems aboard the ship are fair game for our intruder. Are there any
questions?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, " ...I have
one. Do we have to stay in one place, or can we guard anywhere on the
ship?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Act as you
would during a real alert. All security personnel (OOC: Anyone participating,
natch) are expected to respond wherever the intruder has been detected."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I'm going off this
now. If I do one of the things I'm supposed to, though, it'll turn back on and
I won't tell you, so you don't know when I'll be listening!"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, "Oh. Well,
there goes me guarding... Well, it would depend on the intruder. Hrmmm.... I
defintely would be there is Sigma was the one invading."
Iris logs in to cyberspace.
Iris has left.
[Radio: (C) Chat] An automated message comes on over the
radio. "Unauthorized teleporter use detected. Incoming Reploid does not
match authorized personnel. Security breach probable."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "I'll be
there!"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Sirens begin to wail all over the ship,
signaling an intruder alert. Storm Owl then transmits, "All security
personnel, we've detected a breach to our teleportation grid!"

Fortress V - Upper Deck
The upper
decks of the Fortress V are bright with natural light, the windows atop the
ship allowing in sun and moonlight to give a more organic feel to the area.
This is where the brains of the Repliforce meet and think, carrying out
experiments and creating new reploids, as well as repairing the wounded that
are bound to crop up in war. The teleporters sit in the rear of this area,
providing a ready link from Repliforce to the rest of the world.

Mimos is here.
Probably.
It's really quite hard to tell, given how well she's hidden.
Having immediately left the teleporters by way of an air vent, Mimos scrambles
through the ductwork of the Fortress, as she knows full well she's one of the
very few people who actually fits in it. Her stealth system is on; she's
essentially invisible that close to metal, her silver blur disappearing into
the super-clean Fortress walls. Her stealth system has a weaker sound muffler,
though, and while she's doing her best to move silently, those with
particularly sharp ears might catch her when she passes by a vent.
The doors to one of many sets of turbolifts opens up with a
soft hiss, and Storm Owl charges in, planning on taking a very active role in
this little game. He's been studying his own schematics, trying to decipher
where he would attack were he in Mimos's shoes. In his hand is a standard issue
Repliforce laser pistol. There's not enough room in the ship for gales, cyclones,
and hurricanes. Flanking Storm Owl on each side are many generic security
guards. "Fan out." he orders. There's a whole lot of corridors on
this deck. "Stay in pairs." The guards begin to spread out, keeping
two-to-a-group. Storm Owl, along with a no-namer, slowly steps down one such
hallway, keeping their sensors peeled.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, "Right...
I've got the Turbolifts covered."
Hi-Max arrives from the Turbolifts.
Hi-Max has arrived.
The moment
the first call about the teleporter security breach was made, Assault Kangaroo
was on his way to the upper deck of the Fortress V. The turbolift doors opened,
revealing Assault within the elevator chamber, and he immediately dashed out, heading
toward the teleporters. Once he reached the way to the teleporter room, he
looked around his area... He spotted ducts in the walls, and wondered, if the
intruder that made it in was small, could have been able to fit in the vents.
He quickly moved to one, about to search within.
Forge Badger arrives from the Turbolifts.
Forge Badger has arrived.
Mimos is pretty quick in her natural element; the tight fit
of the vents doesn't slow her down at all. She's gone far past the teleporters
by now. Assault can easily find disturbed dust - there /was/ someone up there,
even if she's moved on by now.
A ways
ahead, Mimos pauses, opening her chest compartment and pulling out what looks
like a fist-sized (her fist) grenade with a pair of tiny legs. Setting it in
the vent, she points it back the way she came, activating it and causing it to
trundle that way. Unlike her, it is not stealthed, nor is it particularly
quiet. Under cover of the distraction, she hurries through more venting,
working her way to a room on this floor rather than the turbolifts.
A minute after the alarm has sounded Hi-Max comes running
out of the turbolift. He's here to try and stop the spy if the others haven't
stopped her yet. He doesn't say anything but simply starts to scan the upper deck
for any signs of the infiltrator.
Storm Owl tilts his head, pausing for a moment to use his
ultra-keen hearing. The redshirt trooper alongside him stops as well, rifle
drawn as he gingerly scans the corridors with it. Storm Owl can hear
something... but it's very quiet... it could be anything. Just as Storm Owl is
about to order an investigation into the near-silent movements of Mimos up in
the air ducts, suddenly there is the loud *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* of something
NOT quiet running down the air ducts back towards the teleporters. Storm Owl
lifts his head. He and the generic trooper sprint in the direction of the
sound, trying to track it. Flipping open a communicator , Storm Owl calls to
Assault, "An intruder is unlikely to be so loud. Thus, logically, this
could be a false reading..." Storm quickly transmits to him the
coordinates of the soft noise he originally thought might have been the spy.
Forge Badger follows Hi-Max in from the next lift and stands
in front of the opening for a moment, his digging talons extending and
retracting nervously, both feet planted and listening while he tries to make
sense of what's going on here and where the spy may have gone.
Assault
Kangaroo pulled the vent open, and climbed simply to look inside the vent. He
looked around for a bit, and when he looked to the side, he found an... unusual
sight. He climbed back down and looked back to Storm Owl.
"It's
not an intruder making those noises per se, Storm Owl. It's a..."
Assault
hesitated for a moment, maybe out of embarassment.
"...a
small bomb. On legs."
*CLANK CLANK CLANK*
The walking
sounds rather abruptly stop, with the 'grenade' in front of one of the vents,
visible from the outside, perhaps one down from Assault. After a few moments of
just sitting there, it begins to smoke. It beats explosions, but it /is/ making
it hard to see much down by that end - or hear it over the hissing noise of the
smoke.
Mimos lets
two more little walkers out when she reaches an T-crossing - she could go to
the turbolifts, the science wing, or back. One tromps back the way she came
again, right into the smoke; one goes right toward the science area.
Distraction finished, she makes a squatting dash toward the science wing,
hoping they assumed that she went for the turbolifts - the way there was no
distraction.

With the others looking in the vents Hi-Max busies himself
with poking his head in the Medical Center, the spy could try to sabotage their
repair chambers and if the spy does decide to plant powerful explosives
throughout the ship they will be needing as much medical equipment as possible.
Storm Owl and his trooper halt in their tracks at Assault's
report. Damnit. Storm Owl transmits to everyone in the area the coordinates of
where he thought he heard something. Not exactly a great lead, is it? Of
course, Mimos is probably not even there anymore. Of course, now there's
clangings all over the air ducts. At least they know the spy is somewhere up in
there. "Forge, secure the turbolift. Do not allow anyone to pass through.
Security detail gamma, secure the teleportation area in case she attempts to
return that way. Ass-" He's cut off by the smoke suddenly flowing all over
the deck. "Assault, Report." he says.
Forge Badger looks like he's about to voice an objection. He
swallows it at the last moment, recalling just how high up Storm is in the
hierarchy and the odd vibration signals from his tremorsense aren't pointing at
anything definite anyway.
Assault looks
back at the vent when more clanging is heard, and he spots smoke coming out of
it. He looked back at Storm Owl, and spoke this.
"It
looks like that was a smoke bomb wandering in there! I wonder that the other
clanging is...
He climbed
into the vent again, and looked in the direction the original bomb was coming
from. Through all the smoke, he could somewhat make out two more bombs on legs
walking toward him. He looked back toward Storm from the location.
"Looks
like two more bombs to me..."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "The spy has
eluded us on the Upper Deck. She could be virtually anywhere at this
point."
Two more bombs, indeed. The one Mimos is following into the
science wing - where she's just disappeared to, in fact - is just smoke. It
starts to hiss smoke even as it keeps moving, covering up Mimos' movement. The
other, though...
The other
is simulated explosive. With a recorded /boom/, it 'detonates' in the air vents
itself. It is, of course, nowhere near a crippling blow to the Fortress; it has
the net effect of about a hand grenade, in fact. Mostly it's just an additional
distraction as Mimos makes good her entrance into the science labs.
Storm Owl scowls, as the spy seems to have slipped past
them. There goes the chance for an easy victory right from the start. The
longer Mimos is able to hide, the more trouble she'll be able to make for those
persuing her. There's the sound of an explosion in another section, but Storm
Owl has already guessed that this is simply a distraction. Still, somebody had
better look just in case. He and his generic trooper make it over in that
direction. "Fan out." He orders, realizing that they're playing right
into her plan by following the breadcrumbs. Thus, people can go where they wish
to find the dastardly intruder.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, "So.. What's
up? She still on that floor?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "We do not
know."
Kangaroo
looked a second time in the direction of the two bombs, as the first one smoked,
and leapt down from the vent, just before the explosion went off. He, too,
realized that the exploding bomb was just a distraction. He had a suspicion
that the intruder had gone into one of the rooms on this floor. Which wing it
was, he did not know. He noticed the exploding bomb had been going toward the
direction where the duct would lead to the science area, though... Perhaps
that's where she went?
Out of pure
suspicion with little evidence, Assault decided to move toward the science wing.
What will he find?
Hi-Max is now in the medical center and through their vents
he can hear the simulated explosions going off, that's never a good thing to
hear. He cautiously walks around the room trying to see if the little spy might
be trying to sabotage their medical equipment.
Mimos enters the Research And Development.
Mimos has left.
[Radio: (C) Chat] A random scientist yells, "Hey!
There's an intruder in Res - " Silence.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits various orders to keep
generic no-name troopers stationed where they are, just in case this is another
misdirection trick.

Fortress V - Research And Development
A sometimes
dangerous and always exciting place on the ship, this is the area where the
scientists of Repliforce cook up the latest in military technology. Filled with
the most advanced experimental tools, small explosions and accidents are not
uncommon here, so it's good that it's so near the medbay. Though things do go
awry here, sometimes small miracles are performed in this humble area.

Forge Badger arrives from the Upper Deck.
Forge Badger has arrived.
Storm Owl and his generic security troopers are now fanning
out throughout the corridors, leaving the real players to take care of the
actual rooms. Storm Owl begin calculating the most likely location for her to
move to, but there's no reasonable conclusions. At least, not until that there
message from R&D. Storm Owl and his redshirt buddy start haulin' butt on
over towards Research and Development. They'll be there next round.
Mimos works quickly. Having kicked off one of the vents in
the quiet corner of R&D, she'd managed to land almost /on/ one of the
scientists. He is 'dead', at least for purposes of this training exercise, from
a massive slash wound. She has blocked the door to his little office with a
metal table, a filing cabinet, the scientist's 'body' - anything she had lying
around. It's not great, but it should hold for a few moments at least. She's
hijacked his computer, though she's not actually doing much at it; she has a
small box held against it and she appears to be waiting.
Long before
Storm Owl heard of the message, Assault Kangaroo had been moving toward
Research & Development out of sheer suspicion. His suspicions were
confirmed when that radio message was made. Moving toward that room, Assault
shoved the doors open and ran into the science wing. He began to search around
the room, until eventually, he came upon a suspicious sight: A table, a
cabinet, a "dead" scientist, and other stuff. He took the body of the
scientist, moving him away, and then went to work on kicking everything else
away. Kicking with a strength that can lift large cars and pickup trucks.
How quickly
will he be able to clear the way in?
Storm Owl and his trooper finally reaches Assault Kangaroo
after a few minutes. The Major's gut is not exactly an advantage when it comes
to sprinting, if you know what I mean. Storm halts, immediately seeing to the
condition of the scientist. Yes, he is 'dead'. The 'dead' scientist shrugs and
smiles a bit, getting in a relaxed position for his new job as a corpse. Seeing
as there's nothing more that can be done for him, the war bird watches as
Assault works to kick everything aside. Storm Owl's not a very strong
individual, and he'd just get in the way if he tried to move stuff as well. And
so, Assault gets the heavy moving task.
"There
are only two ways out of that office - the air ducts, and this door."
Storm begins radioing personnel to cover the air duct exits from the office.
Perhaps they finally have the intruder cornered.
Mimos wasn't expecting to be pinned so early - blast the
scientist for actually being in rather than out like she'd thought he'd be this
time of day. After all, he was every /other/ day this week!
Right now,
though, she has two jobs to do at once. First is keep the object by the
computer. She props it there and leaves it for her second job - hold the door
closed. While the barricade wouldn't stand up to Assault's strength, amazingly,
her own muscle will. Hopefully the door won't simply /break/.
The stocky Forge comes to R&D behind everyone else,
walking even more slowly than is usual for him. He's trying to get a fix on the
intruder's footsteps amid the chaos of all the redshirts dispersing, and by the
look on his face not having much luck. "Don' stop, don' stop... blast,"
comes the mutter as various parties reach their positions. He himself stops in
the doorway, watching Assault bash the door with impressively noisy blows.
"Need help?" he asks rhetorically, deciding he's better off covering
this exit unless told otherwise.
Hi-Max remains in the Medical Center while the others search
R&D, he's still double checking on the equipment and trying to find any
possible 'explosives'. So far so good.
Eventually,
Assault managed to clear the way in to open the door. He now went to open the
door... Only to find something holding it. Perhaps the intruder? It looked as
if he was going to have to do this the hard way.
What /is/ the
"hard way," you ask?
Why, by
smashing the door down, of course!
He took a step
back, and raised his right knee toward the side. A second later, that leg was
nothing but a blur as he began to throw lightning-fast high, middle, and low
side kicks at the door. In other words, he's using the Assault Mirage on the
door.
Only the
kicks don't last for four seconds. They last indefinitely until the door is
broken down.
He did not
happen to answer Forge Badger's question about needing help, but judging from
this display, Badger could probably tell that he didn't need any.
The device by the computer beeps. Mimos, still holding the
shuddering door closed, instantly comes to a decision. Moving away from the
door - it smashes open at the next kick, hopefully catching Assault off balance
- she reaches behind her to grab the iteem. That done, she immediately dashes
forward, possibly even under Assault's leg - she's small - and leaps into the
air, running along merrily about ten feet up, suspended on a multicoloured
haze. She is, now, quite visible - let's see what the soldiers do to her.
Storm Owl takes a step back and readies his laser pistol for
when (if?) the door comes down. We've got her now, and with only one of her
terminal objectives reached. Storm Owl knows well enough not to be /too/
overconfident, though. The trooper kneels down to get a good line of fire with
his rifle. It's only a matter of time before that door breaks, and the tension
is beginning to rise. No doubt Mimos shall attempt /something/ to counter this
cornering.
And as the
door smashes and Mimos makes a break for it, Storm and the trooper, caught off
guard, awkwardly fire off a series of laser blasts at the femme.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "The spy has
been spotted heading for the exit of the Research and Development
division."
[Radio: (C) Chat] An automated message states,
"Computers in the Research and Development division have been infected by
a virus. Antivirus procedures activated."
*CRASH*
One last
middle side kick by Assault breaks down the door. And Mimos runs by.
He quickly
put his foot back on the ground, and began to run toward the femme. Ignoring
the warning about infected computers just for this moment, Assault chased the
pocket ninja, and he decided to use the fastest projectile he could muster.
As he ran, he
pointed at her with his right index finger, and held the forearm with his other
hand. He shouted at the intruder in Korean, oddly enough...
<
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!" >
...followed
by a small, atomically-sharpened nail firing out of his finger with the sound
of a pistol and the speed of a bullet, right toward the ninja. Will it connect?
Forge Badger falls into a crouch as the door breaks open,
claws extending and staying out this time as he tries to be ready for anything.
Or almost anything, as Mimos virtually takes flight and goes out of easy reach.
"Don' think you're goin' anywhere," he growls as his forehead stripe
flips up to show a gun barrel of some sort. Taking aim, he sends a warning shot
-- not in front of her as might be expeccted, but directed straight at the
little ninja.
Mimos doesn't really /have/ much to do to counter but run.
She's fast. She's agile. But even so it's not enough. While she has enough
presence of mind to dodge the lasers, she doesn't even /see/ the nail before it
strikes her in the back, followed by a bullet from Forge. If this was real, she
would probably stumble; due to using forcefields, regulated weaponry, and with
her own military-grade forcefield activating briefly, she doesn't slow much at
all. Getting out is still going to be tricky, but she has a plan...she's taking
the shortest route out, her forcefield a visible haze around her now.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "The target is
making a break for it. Coordinates follow. Hi-Max, are you able to
intercept?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "Owl, can
you get your soldiers to check for anything suspicious in the dead scientist's
office?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits,
"Affirmative."
Mimos retreats from the area swiftly, leaving her open to
pursuit or parting shots from Storm Owl, Assault Kangaroo, Prismatic Spider,
and Hi-Max.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "She probably
did something in there to cause the computers to be infected."
Storm Owl fires off a radio message to the bridge to try and
lock down that virus. Or, at the very least, find out what that virus is going
to do. Some troopers will be there to search it out first hand. But for now,
Storm Owl has a more immediate thing to worry about. Running as best as he can,
Storm Owl tries to get a clear line of sight through the annoying multicoloured
haze. He's about able to keep pace with her. The trooper alongside him,
definitely in better shape, closes the gap enough to be able to fire a running
shot. Of course, firing a rifle while sprinting does not make for accuracy.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Hi-Max transmits, "I'll do my best to
intercept sir. Also the Medical Center is currently free of any explosives or
signs of the infiltrator may have been in here."
Continuing to
chase the intruder, Assault asked Storm Owl to get his soldiers to check for
anything suspicious in the office she was in. Whatever she did in that room
definitely infected the computers. It was now Storm Owl's concern, though,
rather than Kangaroo's. His own concern was the retreating intruder.
He readied
his nail gun again. This time, however, he aimed at the kunoichi with both
fingers, hoping to tag her with both nails. He shouted once more, again in
Korean...
<
"YOU WILL NEVER GET AWAY!" >
...and two
nails went flying, again at the speed of bullets. Will those manage to connect?
Forge Badger backs to the side of the door and out, trying
not to get in the way of the trooper, kangaroo, or owl while doing so. Staying
out of the way of the ninja is easy, although nothing he wanted; all he has to
do is stay on the ground. And once again he finds himself bringing up the rear.
Hi-Max steps out of the Medical Center as Storm Owl asks him
if he can intercept the fleeing Mimos. He scans the corridor for any sign of
the speedy little ninja as his fists start to power up with pure energy. Should
he see any sign of Mimos he'll throw a ball of energy at the little gal to try
and disable her.
The virus is, of course, simulated. What it's simulating
doing is simply wiping files as it goes. Fortunately, it certainly isn't
anywhere near difficult to contain; unfortunately it got through a few systems
before it was.
Mimos is
still running like a crazy person. The rifle shot goes right by her face,
through the haze that surrounds her - her forcefield systems at work, for
that's what she's 'running' on. She was sort of expecting more fire; she spins,
running backward, and deflects both nails away with a bar of force.
This, of
course, leaves her running backwards when Hi-Max shows up. /That/ ball hits
her, and hits her hard, nearly dropping what's left of her simulated
forcefield. It slows her down for a moment, dazzled by the energy, and she
drops to the ground as her systems stall for a moment.
Storm Owl nods as Mimos is trapped between Hi-Max and a
whole bunch of other officers. Storm will likely be third from the R&D side
to reach her position, after Assault and the generic trooper. Laser pistol
still drawn, he trains it on the fallen femme, firing off a series of three
concise blasts at the recuperating ninja, "Freeze!" he demands. Shooting
/and/ demanding a surrender at the same time? Well, better safe than sorry.
Assault
Kangaroo witnessed his nails deflected by the ninja... However, one of Hi-Max's
"Cross Shots" (as they are officially known in X6, I OOCly believe,)
struck Mimos right afterward and took her to the ground. Balancing on his tail,
he bent his right leg, and pointed his left at the downed Mimos. The concussive
blasts fired on her could be enough to remove the forcefield, but maybe not. In
case the kunoichi tried to run away, Assault was ready to use his Rocket Kick
at any moment.
<
"Don't move. Don't move, or greater force will be used." >
Hi-Max stands straight as Mimos drops to the ground, his
hands are still crackling and charging up again should Mimos decide to get back
up. As Storm Owl tells the spy to stay where she is Hi-Max shouts at her to
surrender as well, "Surrender at once. You are outnumbered. Don't make
this any harder than it has to be."
Forge Badger stumps up behind Storm Owl and takes up the
last open space around Mimos. Sheaathing one hand's claws he points the
flamejet nozzle on that wrist at her. "What they said," is all he has
to add to the threats, since the others seem to have covered it pretty well.
Mimos just freezes, hands flat on the ground. At least, that
was the intention - she unfreezes long enough to evade the blasts from the
pistol. And then she stops. "I'll get up and stop fighting if you stop
pointing the weapons at me," she says, still face-down.
Storm Owl is very suspicious of a trick. He keeps the weapon
trained on her, "Request denied." He says. He's not taking any risks
here. Storm, Forge, Assault, Hi-Max, and Mr. Redshirt have her surrounded in a
tight circle. There's no way out of this.. right? Well... except for the
terrible weak-spot that is Mr. Redshirt.
Kangaroo
continues to keep his leg trained on the ninja, in case she plans to do
something bizarre in an attempt to catch them all off-guard...
Hi-Max also keeps his hands pointed at Mimos, one thing he's
learned is to never give the enemy a chance to get away.
Mimos pushes herself up to hands and knees. Her hands are
safely visible and not moving, and her forcefield dims and fades away. That
should be it. Right?
Wrong.
Mimos is about to try something she's never done before. With a flash of light,
her forcefield springs back into existance, but this time she's trying to
manipulate the full-body forcefield. The 'pocket'-compartment in her chest
springs open, spilling out a quartet of those legged smoke grenades, and a bar
of forcefield energy swings over roughly from her elbow to activate and scatter
them. All four detonate at once, and Mimos uses it like a starter's gun to take
off again, running for the door and laughing. The laughing dies down about ten
feet out.
As soon as
she brings out the grenades, Assault fires off his left foreleg at Mimos. Hit
or miss, the foreleg returns to him. And then, after the smoke bombs went off
and the laughing started, he went off toward the door. He had assumed that if
she tried anything funny, she would go for the exit. So, that was where he was
going...
And suddenly, smoke is everywhere and Mimos is off to the
races! All that in a flash of light. Storm Owl hacks and coughs as the
air-filters to his coolant system try to sort through the heavy smoke caused by
four of the legged grenades. It obscures his vision almost completely, and the
Owl dares not fire lest he strike someone on his own side. It doesn't take a
very tough calculation to realize that with four allies and one enemy, his
chances of hitting the foe while blind is not good. "Can anyone make out
where she went?" he calls out, completely hindered.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "I'm
after her, Owl. She's heading towards the exit."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "I
assumed she would do that if she tried anything funny, that is."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Excellent,
Assault. All divisions: The intruder has eluded us a second time. We are
attempting to track her."
Hi-Max curses under his breath as the smoke bombs start
going off. He'd fire an energy sphere towards Mimos but he can't see a darn
thing and he's not going to risk hitting his own troops. As the smoke starts to
rise towards the ceiling he ducks down low to the ground almost on his stomach
trying to see where Mimos might have run off to. He coughs slightly,
"Negative sir. I've lost track of her."
In the confusing haze, Mimos has once again put her stealth
systems on, appearing as little more than a blur if she stays close to a solid
object. Such as the ceiling. That's what she's doing right now - clinging to
the ceiling with hands and feet, working her way rapidly toward the door. Most
people, after all, don't think to look /up/. Her goal: Turbolifts. Specifically,
the access shaft near them.
Forge Badger splutters and coughs but still forges (pun not
intended) in the direction of Mimos's departure. "This way... her
vibrations go this way." Light and smoke may blind, sound may deafen, but
tremorsense is forever. He retracts his other claws en route, lest he
accidentally stab anyone in the haze.
[Radio: (C) Chat] The Fortress V suddenly ~LURCHES~,
potentially knocking anyone aboard down to the ground. A report comes from the
bridge, "That viral infection got to the navigation controls before we
could extinguish it... we're trying to lock it down, but it migh-" ~LURCH~
"e a while... ah... we'll have to hold on until it's flushed out."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Flame Hyenard erks.
As soon as he
exited the R&D room, Assault saw Mimos vanish... and then the Fortress V
lurched, causing him to fall forward. As he tried to get up, he looked around
him... including at the ceiling. And he spotted the blur going across the
ceiling. He pointed a little in front of what he assumed was Mimos's blur, and
fired off another nail, hoping to tag the blur...
Storm Owl nods to Forge, but following him might not be all
that worthwhile since Mimos is probably faster than Forge is. But Assault
seemed to have the basic idea of where she went, and so Storm and the redshirt
try to follow him. But alas, when the ship suddenly violently shakes, Storm is
thrown to the ground and smashes against a wall. The trooper hits his head on
the floor, and his hitpoint forcefield registers him as being knocked out.
"Damnit," the redshirt mutters, now out of the game. Storm starts to
climb up, only to be knocked down again by the second lurch. Storm's not known
for his grace on two feet.
Mimos doesn't even slow down during the lurches - if
anything, she moves with it, sliding forward and out the door. The nail impacts
inches behind her as she squirms out, apparently not having seen it again. That
or she's just choosing not to react. Once outside, she moves toward the ducting
again, this time the repair ducting for the turbolift.
You know,
the one where practically nobody fits where they get the tiny drones to do it?
That ducting.
Forge Badger tracks Mimos to the service duct... one that he
couldn't possibly fit through. He pounds the wall next to the entrance with a
fist with a bellow of "Dammit!" following the intruder, the only
thing he can send. Turning, he stalks toward the turbolifts.
As he saw the
blur moving, Assault Kangaroo witnessed Mimos move into the duct. Immediately,
he got up and dashed off toward the turbolift repair duct, which he had assumed
based on the direction Mimos was going before. He fired another nail from his
left finger at the blur, and whenever Mimos pulled the duct off and went in, he
leapt, grabbed the bottom edge of the duct, and pointed into the duct with his
right finger, sending three nails in. Will any of the nails land?
Storm Owl makes it to where Mimos vanished around the same
time as Forge, having suffered badly through both of the lurches from the ship.
Storm Owl frowns, peering through the repair duct. Wordlessly, he follows
Forge, "Did anyone track which way she went?" he says. Great, she's
gotten one objective, spread a virus, and she's loose once more. And they're
not certain where she's going.
Mimos is a nut.
She jumped.
She's already quite a ways down by the time the darts land on a shield she'd
thought to hold above her, having expected to be shot by someone or something.
She only slows once she's on the proper level - all the way down to the docks.
Tracking her is difficult; it would almost be faster to wait for security
cameras to find her again. It's not impossible, though, provided one can see
all the way down the vent.

Fortress V - Docking Bay
A massive
docking bay, the Fortress V has the space to carry every large vehicle the
Repliforce deploys, dozens of ships, ride armors, and several huge dropships berthed
in the cavernous confines of the ship. The hangar doors are open most of the
time, a forcefield protecting the sensitive bay from enemy attack, though a
pair of giant doors can slide into place if they need further protection.
Repliforce techs and flight crew mill about here constantly, keeping the bay in
good working order. To the rear, a series of turbolifts gives access to the
rest of the ship.

Fortress V - Turbolifts
Forge Badger arrives from the Turbolifts.
Forge Badger has arrived.
Hi-Max arrives from the Turbolifts.
Hi-Max has arrived.
Storm Owl is still on the upper decks. Mimos jumped downward
into the turbolift's repair duct, but there's a whole lot of decks below the
upper levels, and each deck contains many, many rooms. The ninja could be just
about anywhere at this point. At least she's been shot a few times, so
hopefully her forcefield won't be strong enough to survive another encounter.
*still on R&D level* Forge shakes his head. "She
wen' outta my range a moment ago. If she's taken out her objective, I'd say
she's gettin' outta here. If not, there's still some good targets'n the docking
bay, and she'll still have to try leavin' sometime. I'm headin' down
there." And so he does, taking the less suicidal route of the turbolifts.
Hi-Max is in the rear running after the others, he could
dash by quickly but he decides against it as he would collide with the others.
For now he follows while keeping both of his hands at a semi-charge in case he
actually spots the ninja again.
Mimos can't take more than another shot or two, unless she's
actively blocking. That's why she chose /this/ objective next.
Coming out
on the ceiling of the Docking Bay, Mimos would be practically invisible from
the floor even if she /wasn't/ stealthed. It's huge! And, of course, she's not.
She simply skulks along the ceiling, choosing her location with care, not doing
anything to draw attention to herself.
Kangaroo got
up after shooting down the duct, and decided that because she went down, she
may have gone down to a lower level. Running into the turbolifts, Kangaroo
signaled his allies to get into the elevator shaft. He wasn't sure whether she
was in the middle level or the lower level, but going to the lower level might
have been a good idea.
Storm Owl, Forge, and Assault are all in the turbolift, it would
seem. Maybe Hi-Max too. "Your logic is sound, Forge." Storm Owl says,
and the turbolift begins descending down towards the docking bay. Annoying
elevator music plays softly. Storm Owl reloads his laser pistol. If things
don't start turning around soon, he might have to start whippin' out the winds,
indoors or no indoors. Hopefully someone will spot the ninja... wherever she
is.
"Accourse it is," the badger replies modestly.
Immediately upon the lift's arrival on the dock level, Forge charges out and to
the controls to close the bay doors, if they're not already closed, and checks
for any other exits reporting as open and unlocked, locking them if need be.
Hi-Max actually catches the next turbolift. Upon stepping
onto the lift he shouts, "Follow that lift."
Mimos continues to shift about on the ceiling. Judging,
moving, making her decision.
And then
she lets go. Mimos falls very rapidly, feet-first, toward her chosen point. Her
speed cuts down (slightly) while she's in freefall, and she jostles left and
right, aiming herself. She finally comes to a hovering halt about five feet
over the Eagle's pilot seat with a jerk, dropping the last bit of distance
lightly. Before the exercise started, she prepared it for a quick launch.
Legal? Probably not, but it seemed cool at the time, and she's congratulating
herself on her foresight as she flips the switches and turns the dials to get
the Eagle to thrum to life, and hoping no mechanic undid half the startup.
[Radio: (C) Chat] A mechanic yells, "Hey! The intruder's
down here, and she's just dropped into the Eagle!"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits,
"Damn."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos comes back on the radio. "Hi! I
got this back when I put the virus in. Surprise! Also, thank you for not
shooting me before. I would've shot me."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Well, obviously,
not /me/. But you get the idea."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Forge Badger transmits, "We'll keep
tha' in min' for when we see you agin."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Soldier Stonekong transmits,
"Shooting bad. Smashing more fun."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "The attempt to
shoot you was made. Repeatedly. Regardless, our comm-frequencies are clearly
compromised. Using short-distance two-way communications is now prefered."
When Forge
ran out, so did Assault. Hearing that the intruder had dropped onto the Eagle,
he began to search for the Ride Armor, and after a few seconds, began to
kangaroo-hop toward the Ride Armor. He is not sure where exactly Mimos is on
the Eagle, though. How quickly will he get to the mechanism?
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Not when I was on
the ground, though. You should've shot me then when I said I was going to
surrender."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Granted."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, "...Did you
not take the turbolifts at all?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "There /are/ other
ways to get down there, you know."
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission: Forge Badger says, "Next
time, I cover her with claws, t'hell with the flames."
[Radio] Tightbeam transmission to Forge Badger: You say,
"Acceptable. We cannot allow her to continue roaming the ship."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Jet Stingray transmits, "...Oh well,
I did my part. If I knew it was gunna be this quiet, asked a certain someone to
join me."
Ding! Docking bay floor. The turbolift doors open and Storm
Owl follows Forge and Assault out. "Seal the docking bay!" he shouts.
Heavy blast doors slide down, protecting the rest of the ship from the docking
bay. Will it stop a Ride Armour? Well... perhaps not, but it'll at least slow
it down. Storm hovers upwards, now able to get air-borne in the huge expanse
that is the docking bay. Storm flies towards the Eagle, firing off a blast of
compressed air, hoping to shut the ride armour down before it can properly get
started up.
Forge Badger slaps the outer door close button repeatedly,
as if that would make it close faster. When it finally gets closed enough that
only another second will seal it, he moves toward the Eagle's bay in spurts,
ducking behind the other armors when he feels it necessary.
Mimos is literally already in the pilot's seat. She
/practiced/ this. It's a wonder it's actually working. By memory, she brings
the Eagle the rest of the way up, using her own intense forcefield to deflect
the worst of the windstorm away from her. She can't do /that/ much longer,
either. Fortunately, she won't have to. Revving the Ride Armor, she swings the
cannon-arm sideways, firing at Assault and hopefully before he gets there.
And yes,
when she was preparing this before, she set it to work with the simulation.
Isn't she nice?
Repliforce Ride Armor <Eagle>
One word sums up
this massive ride armor: huge. Rising to seventeen feet at the upper rim of the
armor, this mechanical contraption was built to serve primarily as a war
machine. Large-booted, digitgrade legs support the massive weight of the armor
and provide traction on almost any surface. A large, cup-shaped body contains
an open cockpit and a complex set of controls. The front of the armor sports a
pair of headlights for dim conditions.
The Eagle is
armed with a large cannon in place of its right arm, leaving the left ending
with a hand. On its back are two flight thrusters and long, sweeping verniers.
It is predominantly a blue color, and a Repliforce emblem is emblazoned on the
front.
Hi-Max steps out of his lift a few moments after Storl Owl
and the others step out of theirs. Spotting the others he rendez-vous up with
them, his hands are glowing again, he knows this is a dangerous area to have a
spy in.
Kangaroo,
being a martial artist, was pretty agile, no matter what. The cannon arm is
swung around, but it wasn't all that fast. Assured that Mimos intended to fire
a shot, Assault somersaulted forward over the shot that was indeed fired, and
then proceeded to leap to the leg of the Ride Armor. From there, he began to
climb after a few seconds. Because of that shot, he was now fully sure that the
kunoichi was in the pilot's seat... and he was going to get up there and get
her before she could possibly escape.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "A firefight has
broken out in the docking bay. The spy is contained, however."
Storm Owl now has to worry about a firefight in the docking
bay. With a Ride Armour. Amazingly, this might mean less destruction overall.
At least they know where she is. The Fortress Commander swings around for another
pass at the Eagle, this time streaking down towards the cannon arm to use his
well armoured wings to hack at the cannon being fired at Assault. The plan is
clearly to start taking out the Ride Armour's weapon systems. Generic security
personnel also fire off their laser weapons at the Ride Armour's tough hide.
Seeing Assault ascend to the cockpit, Forge dashes (if
anything that slow can be called a dash) under the armor itself and unsheathes
his claws. One hand clenches its claws to a point, and the wrist begins to
rotate until individual claws are indistinguishable. He thrusts this whirling
Ginsu set at one of the Eagle's 'knees', trying to cripple its mobility.
Mimos mostly ignores the general laser fire coming her way.
The Eagle is tough. It can take it, at least for a while. It can take the
wings, too, although less well; knocked aside, Mimos fails to bring the blaster
back in line particularly quickly. Forge's shredding of the knees, too, gives
her difficulty; eventually she has to simply attempt to kick him away at the
same time she swings the blaster like a club toward Storm Owl. There is almost
nothing she can do about Assault, so she doesn't try; she simply fires the
blaster at random, as quickly as she can, while she's clubbing.
Once Hi-Max notices that the spy has taken control of a ride
armor he brings all of his defensive systems on. It eats up a small portion of
his fuel reserves but the entire Fortress 5 is at risk. With the others so
close to the ride armor he decides to rush right towards them and see if he
can't take the Eagle down with his bare hands.
Storm Owl is clubbed by the blaster and sent hurling
backwards through the air. Thankfully, he's able to recover before hitting a
wall. His hitpoint shield shows a considerable drop in health. Best not to get
too close to that thing again. The war bird sees that Hi-Max, Assault, and
Forge are all engaging it in hand to hand. That rules out any long ranged
bombardment on his part. Thankfully, he winds up having to spend his time dodging
the mad spray of bullets, so it's a moot point anyway. "Can you bring it
down?" he calls out, unable to assess the situation while being shot at.
Continuing to
climb up the Eagle, Assault at last reached the top of the Eagle. He sat on the
top of the Ride Armor, just behind Mimos, and kept a hold on the outer edges of
the Ride Armor as he pointed both legs straight at the little kunoichi. He
uttered a small apology in Korean for a moment...
<
"I'm sorry." >
...before
shooting both forelegs right at Mimos at close range. He hopes to make her get
knocked against the controls, probably.
*CRASH* Forge gets scraped off the Eagle's leg. He enjoys
flight for a brief moment in his life before smacking into the floor again.
Simulation code says he should be dazed at this point, and boy oh boy does he
believe it. And hopefully his hitting the floor several dozen feet from the
Eagle should answer Storm's question.
Mimos continues to fire at random, not at Storm so much as
at the area around him. She's trying to make a mess, not drop the boss bird.
The Eagle can't take much more of this, though; it rocks with every hit it
takes from Hi-Max. Mimos' ears catch Assault's whispered word, even though she
doesn't understand the language. Not removing her hands from the controls, she
instinctively half-turns, flinching -
- just in
time to get kicked right in the face. Her forcefield tells her that she is
quite unconcious now, and she's half-dazed from the blow regardless. While she
doesn't slam into the Eagle's cockpit, she is definitely out of it.
The forelegs
returned to Kangaroo right after they connected, and as he got on his knees, he
grabbed the seat, and looked on at Mimos to get a clue about what he did to
her. He found her not moving after a couple of seconds, so the Lieutenant made a
radio call to the rest of his team to confirm this. It appeared that Lieutenant
Assault Kangaroo had done well in this exercise...
[Radio: (C) Chat] Assault Kangaroo transmits, "All
soldiers cease fire. The intruder is unconscious."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos says, helpfully, "Ow. You hit
me in the /face/."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Marine Lieutenant Assault Kangaroo
transmits, "I had to do that. I'm sorry about that, Mimos."
Hi-Max stops hitting the ride armor once it's confirmed that
Mimos has been knocked out. He steps back and deactivates his defensive
systems.
Storm Owl remembers the earlier advice from Mimos, and thus
fires again a few more times, just in case. But then Assault reports the
intruder is unconscious. The war bird gives a relieved sigh and touches down on
the ground near the Ride Armour. "I believe, Mimos... that the drill is
over." The owl peers up at her. "You reached one of your objectives,
accessed and cracked our comm-systems, destroyed a section of the air duct on
deck 5, dealt damage to the R&D lab and the docking bay, forced us to
disable one of our own Ride Armours, and had plenty of time to transmit the
stolen data back to your enemy headquarters." That about sum it up? Storm
Owl adds, "And killed one of our scientists."
Forge Badger stands up while making sure that nothing was
really damaged from that kick. He watches the commander as he summarizes the
exercise, and winces at every listed 'victory' for Mimos. Geez, they could have
done better.
Mimos clambers out of the 'disabled' Eagle, shutting it down
as she does. "Two objectives. One of mine was the Ride Armors. It was one
the bottom, but I didn't think I'd get a chance for it if I did it later."
She recovers quick; the forcefield took most of it, after all. "And the
virus, but I think you counted that. And I put a bomb on the teleporter when I
came in, but it didn't work. I used the wrong kind. I was going to jump out of
here if I had to leave.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I got two of my
things. And made a mess. You did okay! I was supposed to get seven."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "But if I'd gotten
all seven, I would've beaten the Fortress. I don't think I can do that."
Storm Owl nods, adding those points to the tally on Mimos's
side. "This drill has shown several deficiencies in the security grid.
However each and every one shall be solved." He promises. No enemy will be
able to take advantage of all these things. With a new ship like the FV, it
takes some time to get a perfect routine down. This will help quite a bit to
achieve that.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "True. However
one must consider other possible circumstances - had this been during a battle,
the Fortress V would have been severely hindered in providing cover fire for
our troops."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Well, true."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "If there /had/ been
other people around, I would've gone for the fifth and sixth places. The engine
and the bridge."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I probably would've
skipped the science."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Understood. It
would have been interesting to see how you would have faired against the
bridge. The command centre is well guarded."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "That's why I didn't
pick that one."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "If I had help or
could've taken the Eagle up there, maybe."
Assault stood
up, and leapt down from the Eagle, landing on the floor of the docking bay.
Moving toward the ninja, he went to shake Mimos's hand with his right hand.
"Good
job, Mimos. You had me on my guard for most of that..."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Indeed.
Protection for the docking bay is high on the list of fixes required."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I've never tried to
assassinate a ship before, though. It was sort of fun! I'm more used to
people."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "You know what you
need?"
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "Vent
grates."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "You need grates in
the air ducts. And they need to be electric."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I have knives but I
wouldn't want to chop electric grates."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "Confirmed.
Commander Prismatic, I presume these can be installed? Our ability to track
Mimos was lacking once she entered the duct system."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "We did
retrofit Resolution Point with them after a few incidences of chasing Bolero
around."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits,
"Apparently we overlooked it in the FV designs."
Mimos finally hops off the Eagle, reaching up to shake
Assault's hand. She's grinning. "Thanks! Like I said, I've never tried it
before."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "I'll
have Engineering get on it immediately."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "There were /some/,
but they were really thin. I think they were for dust."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I fell through a
few when I dropped all those stories."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "Yes,
those would indeed be insufficient to stop an intruder."
Hi-Max's weapons and defensive systems have all powered
down, he's not real happy with the results of this drill, but he understands
that everyone is still getting use to living in this new Fortress and still
learning the best ways to defend it from the interior.
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I cheated, though.
I turned the Eagle on before and made sure it would work during the mission,
because I don't know how to get it to go if I don't actually have
permissions."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Sorry,
Commander."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "It's
fine."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "The
virus was also clever."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Er, the other
commander. It's his ship."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "It was a
devious ploy, and one that exposed a an important weakness that needs
solving."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "It's not my virus.
I just got a box to use, because I can't do anything with the computers. But
lots of people who would want to get in /can/, so it was one of my places to go
and things to do."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "Internal
viral heuristics will need to be upgraded."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "It got
entirely too far before being stopped."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Actually, the
scientist I killed gave it to me. That's why I went into his room."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "He was the computer
guy who helped make the drill things."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Prismatic Spider transmits, "Yes,
still."
Shaking the
tiny little hand of Mimos, he bent down to pat Mimos on the back.
"Everyone must be commended for their actions, too."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Am I going to do
this again? Because really, killing people is easier."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Storm Owl transmits, "I have no
objections to further drills."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "I have an idea for
the next one. I'll tell you later. I want to think more first."
Forge Badger bows to the diminutive ninja and offers his
hand. "You're a righ' terror when y'know what you're doin'." And then
he gets the radio transmission that says this may happen again. "Ugh. Next
time I may jus' wait down here for you."
Mimos grins, showing no teeth. Apparently she wasn't built
with any. "Thanks! Like I said, I'm more used to people. I think I'll try
a different place next time." Like the armory. That would be fun.

Title: Log: Intruder
Readiness Drill
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voiceover.
"Our
intruder readiness drill was successfully conducted. Mimos served as our
intruder, and was successful in reaching two out of seven of her objectives,
accessed and cracked our comm-frequencies, destroyed a section of air duct on
deck 5, dealt damage to the R&D lab, killed one of our scientists, had
plenty of time to transmit all of her stolen data back to her enemy camp,
spread a virus throughout the ship's network which briefly disabled navigation
control, nearly destroyed the teleporters, injured several security personnel,
and forced us to disable one of our own Ride Armours before being defeated. Had
she infiltrated while the ship was at battle, the results would have been a
disaster."
"The
drill was a success, however, in that it exposed weaknesses in the security
grid that can be corrected. Cmdr Prismatic Spider will be installing
electrified grates to the air duct system to prevent entry, and the protocol in
the teleportation chamber and docking bay shall be completely reworked -
specifically in regards to Ride Armour control during an intruder alert."
"Assault
Kangaroo, Forge Badger, Hi-Max, and myself led the primary anti-intruder
squadron. As one final note, I have suggested to Maj Iris that our frequencies
be rotated. They have not been altered since before the Battle & Chase
games."

[Radio: (C) Chat] Soldier Stonekong transmits, "At
least little ninja not ram ship with other ship to get aboard..."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "Well, I started on
the ship."
[Radio: (C) Chat] Mimos transmits, "In the teleporter
room. I didn't have anything to ram."
Storm Owl finishes making his log about the drill and says,
"I fully support further drills, Mimos. With each security flaw that is
sealed, it will only be more difficult for you." Storm Owl is not one to
decline an offer to drill his soldiers, believe me. The Captain nods to the
group and says, "Well done. The exposed flaws shall be corrected."
And unless there's nothing else, Storm Owl turns to head out.
Assault nodded to Mimos, and also nodded to
Storm Owl.
"Let's
go, everyone."
And he
followed Storm Owl out.
Forge Badger shakes his head. "I've other things t'do here, but I'll see you 'round." And with that, he turns to one of the ride armors still in its bay and sets off to work.
