Egypt

A blazing wind dances around this area as sand is blown in all directions... Once upon a time less than 14,000 square miles of the Egyptian land area was cultivated or settled on, but much has changed since then; Egypt, while not nearly as busy as some other areas, is still a bustling trade route and well established community. The ancient Egyptian structures such as the great pyramids and the Sphinx are still standing tall, unmarred by millennia of age. A few of the old culture's other constructions still stand tall as well, reminding many of the achievements of the ancient people that once lived here and standing out from most of the technological advanced buildings in the area. Aside from the few cities such as Cairo, vast deserts make up most of what is Egypt today, much like it was centuries ago. The large Nile River and all that surrounds the massive body of water is within view.

Tengu Man arrives from the Southern Outskirts.

Tengu Man has arrived.

And from above, carried upon the winds themselves, Storm Owl descends from the spy. His brilliant golden orange armour shines off the searing light of the relentless sun. And indeed, it is a true scorcher today. The heat is so powerful the very air itself seems to have melted into a deep haze. The sunlight's reflection on the sand serves to ensure that shade is barely a viable option. Every so often the wind picks up just long enough to blow a gentle, cool breeze into the area; but it's more along the lines of taunting, as the climate keeps a tight grasp on any sort of relief of this heat.

Regardless, Storm Owl settles down into the sandy arena. Four posts are set up in a square with cables attaching them together. Though, given the nature of the bout, it is unlikely much fighting will be done in the arena.

Oh look! There's a referee! Doesn't he look as pleased as punch to be here. The ref, a nonspecial human from the area, waits patiently for both of the combatants to arrive. Ah, there's the first-- now where's the second?

Maybe, maybe not. Spiral Pegasus simply walks into the arena with a relaxed demeanor, ducking in between the ropes as he enters the ring. Flashy entrances? Nah, not when he's going up against one of his own. Especially against a superior officer. Either way, he's going to lose today.

The referee, seeing both of the combatants at hand, nods and nods, and gestures to the arena. "Fighters, take your places! Begin when ready!"

Storm Owl settles down into the arena in his corner and fires off a salute to his opponent. There's a loud thunderclap as he does so. "I have been looking forward to this match, Spiral." Storm Owl drones. The fact that this is a fellow Repliforcer is unimportant, other than that pride is less at stake. Not that Storm Owl cares for pride, but he won't harbour any ill will towards his fellow officer should the Pegasus come out on top. Storm waits for the ceremonial coin toss.

Actually, just kidding. The referee instead takes out a coin. And then he flips it.

Tengu Man flips a coin in the air and it comes down tails.

"First move to Storm Owl."

Spiral Pegasus salutes back with an off-kilter look, "Uh, thank you, sir." Looking forward to this? Oh dear, this is going to end even worse than he thought. And he gets the first attack too. Time to assume crash positions!

Storm Owl inclines his head towards the referee and then focuses on his opponent. Unsurprisingly, Storm Owl takes off from the air, brandishing his pair of feather daggers. Hovering several metres up from his starting corner, the war bird glares at the officer for a good ten seconds, analyzing him, studying him... judging him. Finally, Storm Owl acts with a grace that defies his logical, controlled personality. In one fluid motion, the owl pulls back a hand and hurls one of his feather daggers towards Spiral, hoping to draw first blood in this duel.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a glancing hit from your Feather Missile attack.

Spiral Pegasus watches, watches, watches. "Is he going to do any-OH CRAP." Instinctively, he moves to protect his body with his wings, which now sport several feather daggers sticking out of them. "This is a new experiences," he says with a wince, before flareing out a single wing and responding with a barrage of his own feathers! Only his feathers are nice 'n lasery and don't leave any metal mess behind!

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Wing Shredder attack.

Storm Owl climbs up higher into the air, now circling around the arena like a vulture waiting for the wounded animal to finally just lay down and die. To his surprise, Spiral Pegasus does not follow him, and instead launches wing shrapnel of his own! Storm takes immediate evasive maneuvers, neatly dodging the deadly assault. His movement in the sky, aided by the power of the winds, does bring some amount of relief to those in the crowd as far as the scorching heat goes. But it's a dry, uncaring, stifling sort of breeze. Storm, still focusing on the battle at hand, peers down at his foe. Well, if the Pegasus will not come join him in the sky, then Storm shall have to join him on the ground. The Fortress V Commander halts his circular flight pattern long enough to rise up slightly, and then dive downward towards the Pegasus, attacking to lash out at him with his powerful talons.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a minor hit from your Talon Crush attack.

"Owowowow!" Y'know, Spiral, if you actually moved a little more instead of just gawking at the aerial acrobatics, you may actually not get hit for once. If Storm Owl wants to fly though, the pegasus can do that as well as shown by him countering the talon rip with a sudden burst into the air with a raised fist.

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Air Uppercut attack.

Storm Owl would appear to be on his game right now as he pulls up after his successful strike. As his opponent lifts up into the air, Storm Owl takes a page from Storm Eagle's book and abruptly cutting across the arena just as the Pegasus takes off from the ground. The result is a missed upper cut from Spiral, and a new chance for Storm Owl to take the fight to his enemy! Analyzing the battle as it's progressed thus far, Storm Owl opts to bring out his missile array. From within his metallic wings, several feathers suddenly blast out, streaking towards Spiral Pegasus. Some explode in mid-air. Hopefully, some will strike Spiral.

You miss Spiral Pegasus with your Feather Missiles attack.

The ol' bob 'n weave comes in handy as the next barrage of missiles come Spiral's way. Those that he doesn't evade disappear in his next counter-move, as a small tornado builds in front of him before tearing off in Storm Owl's direction. Hrm. For an owl, the old guy sure has some moves.

Spiral Pegasus strikes you with a glancing hit from his Wing Spin attack for 3 units of damage.

Storm Owl's missiles fail to make contact with the quick pegasus Reploid, and Storm Owl nods in approval of Spiral's maneuvers. "Excellent." he compliments. Spiral's counter-assault is even better, however, as Storm suddenly finds himself doing battle with a tornado. He attempts to fight it with his own wind generators but fails, and ends up getting flung around in mad circles, unable to free himself. Finally, Storm bursts out of the tornado, now suffering from many scratches on his golden orange armour. Turnabout is fair play, and so Storm Owl fires back with a blast of air of his own.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a minor hit from your Wing Gale attack.

Turnabout definitely is fair play, especially if you're air resistant. Spiral wades through the resulting gale, countering with winds of his own to buffet the damage. "Neat. I forgot you could do that!", he says as he dashes through the storm, stopping to do a cymbal-crash on Storm Owl with his wings.

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Wing Buffet attack.

Air resistant? Welcome to the club, my friend. This is going to be fun. "'Forgot that I could do that'?" Storm Owl echos, arching an optical ridge. "Surely you took the time to review the known capabilities of your opponent before venturing into battle... to do otherwise would be entirely illogical. As is this maneuver." Storm Owl halts nad hovers in place, using his own wind generators to fight against Spiral's. Thanks to the sudden clearing of the winds, Storm Owl is able to outmaneuver the pegasus. The war bird streaks upwards, gaining the tactical advantage of altitude. He is now far, far above the arena and Spiral. From this point, Storm stands at attention in mid-air. Finally, he brings his hand to his forehead in a salute. As he does so, there's the loud ~CRACK~ of thunder in Spiral's area, hopefully disorienting him.

You miss Spiral Pegasus with your Thunderous Salute attack.

A voice comes from behind Storm Owl. "Uh, its just a Battle 'n Chase fight. I save my studies for more serious efforts, sir." Spiral took the time for the flight and the salute to comes soaring through from the rear, aimed hoof-first at Storm Owl.

Spiral Pegasus strikes you with a minor hit from his Hoof Smash attack for 9 units of damage.

Storm Owl whirls about as Spiral expertly maneuvers upwards and manages to smash his hoof against the war bird's face, sending the Owl sprawling backwards with a big dent on his beak. "The Battle and Chase games are the perfect time for practising, Spiral." he counters, recovering his balance in the air. "That includes practicing the ability to study your opponent." He says this as it's merely a suggestion, as Storm realizes not everybody responds to such tactics the same way. Regardless, as this appears to have turned into a melee affair, Storm Owl once again builds up his speed as he dives down at the pegasus, attempting to slash at him with his well armoured wings as he passes by.

You miss Spiral Pegasus with your Wing Slice attack.

Spiral Pegasus merely grins at Storm's response, backing off for a moment to assess his counter-move before coming in yet again. Instead of dodging the wings, he ducks, reaches out for Storm Owl's leg and then proceeds to see if he can give him a good toss back into the ring.

Spiral Pegasus strikes you with a glancing hit from his Throw attack for 3 units of damage.

Storm Owl is beaten out on this exchange, hands down. Spiral proves why he's the up and coming soldier in Repliforce. Storm Owl's leg is neatly grabbed, and the Owl is flung back into the arena, barely able to control his fall before smashing into the arena's sandy floor. The Fortress V Commander looks at the pegasus up above him and nods, admiting that he was outmaneuvered there. Still attempting to regain his footing after that last throw, Storm Owl simply fires off a minor burst of air at his enemy. Nothing fancy this time around.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a glancing hit from your Generic Ranged attack.

Aha, but that was merely Phase One! Spiral Pegasus quickly comes back down to Earth, literally speaking, shrugging off the incoming blasts as he descends and gains speed. And more speed. And more speed. By the time he reaches Storm Owl, he's just about to break the speed of sound... Cover your eardrums, kids.

Spiral Pegasus strikes you with a minor hit from his Sonic Dive attack for 13 units of damage.

Storm Owl takes a step back as Spiral dives down towards him. His optics widen a mere fraction as he realizes what's descending down upon him. Storm is clipped by the pegasus and sent flying, skidding along the ground, halted only as he strikes the thick, cushioned ropes surrounding the arena. Storm tilts his head slightly, pushing himself off the ropes. One can hear the sound of his twin wing engines warming up. Finally, Storm launches himself at Spiral, attempting to smash into him with his body. Hit or miss, Storm then climbs up high into the air to deal with whatever Spiral's counter-attack will be.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a solid hit from your Accelerated Strike attack.

Spiral Pegasus's counter-strike? Match thrust for thrust. If he's gonna get hit, might as well make sure the other side comes out just as dented as he is! A gust of wind, a flash of silver, and a hearty "BANZAI!!!" The Lone... wait, that's not right. Oh well, let's just see if he actually gets enough momentum to -do- damage as he's getting hit...

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Air Dash attack.

Nope, he didn't. "OW!"

Storm Owl managed to blast his way through the blast of air in order to hit Spiral. Lifting up into the sky once again, Storm Owl considers his options. Feather missiles gone... one more dagger, but he'll save that for later. Finally, his engines need a cool-down period before he tries a stunt like that again. That leaves his wing mounted wind generators to do their thing. Attempting to fight Spiral with his own forte, Storm sends a powerful windstorm towards the pegasus, whipping up all manner of sand and rocks from the desert. Oh no!

You miss Spiral Pegasus with your Cyclone Winds attack.

Spiral Pegasus is starting to spark in places he really shouldn't be sparking in, but no matter. With a dismissive wave, the windstorm is suddenly met by a much larger windstorm! The two merge and switch direction, lumbering back the way it came. Try to pull my own schtick on -me- will you?

Spiral Pegasus strikes you with a glancing hit from his Wing Twist attack for 6 units of damage.

Look, I'm going to level with you. Storm Owl has two real modes of attacks: He dives at you, and he using wind. Sure, he has a few odd balls like the thunderous salute and his missiles, but when you get right down to it, he has his meat and potatoes that consist of diving and using wind. Since he just passed wind, Storm Owl opts for the next best thing and flies over-top Spiral after suffering the damage of his very own wind storm. But just when you think he's going to fly past the pegasus, he abruptly drops from the sky, attempting to land on Spiral.

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a solid hit from your Sudden Drop attack.

Hey, that's sorta like the Hoof Smash or Sonic Di- OW. As Spiral is plowed straight into the desert, he finds himelf in a similar position, battered and nearly broken, down to his last reserves of internal strength. Only this time it doesn't look like the next strike'll decide the event. Oh well, might as well give it his best shot, the warrior thinks to himself as he drags himself off the desert floor. Go for the primary? "Nah, lets see if I can make this a Rocky ending," he says with a chuckle as he launches himself bodily at Storm Owl. Rocky ending?

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Ram attack.

Sage Harpuia arrives from the Southern Outskirts.

Sage Harpuia has arrived.

And now I'm going to have 'Eye of the Tiger' in my head for the rest of the night. Thank you. Regardless, Storm Owl has no intention of letting up on this match. He seems to have an advantage, and he presses it for all that it's worth. The war bird displays a remarkable amount of agility as he flips to the side, neatly evading the flying horse that's sent his way. "'Rocky ending'?" Storm Owl echos, once again raising an optical ridge. He doesn't understand half the things that Spiral says. Without hesitating or giving Spiral a chance to recover, Storm Owl switches from his meat to his potatos and fires off a powerful blast of air, hoping that the pegasus is too badly damaged to counter it with his own wind powers.

You miss Spiral Pegasus with your Wing Gale attack.

Sage suddenly appears, dressed casually, manning the judge's table. There's no announcement, other than to the spectating audience, that a change of judges has indeed occurred!

No luck there, chief! Spiral uses another dismissive wave to ward off -that- attack. Oh, and the Rocky ending: Where two combatants knock the heck out of each other and the first one up before Mills Lane counts to 10 wins. Or least that was Spiral's plan, but with that attack out of the playbook, its back to his own meat and potatoes. In this case, using Storm's wind strike to fuel his own wind strike against him! Twice in one fight, and not even with the same attack, oh ho!

Spiral Pegasus misses you with his Wind Storm attack.

".. that's a nice breeze." Sage off-handedly comments.

Potatoes have failed Storm Owl. And which Rocky movie was that, anyhow? There's been so many... they blur together, don'tcha know. Annnnnyhow, the war bird is still well enough to be able to hold up his end of the little air duel they have. Who can blow more? It seems they blow just the same! Storm hovers in the air, realizing that this match is starting to get pointless. And so, the Owl goes back to his other method of annihilating things. The Fortress V Commander is growing tired from this ineffectual battle, but is hoping he still has enough left in him to finish off his fellow Repliforcer. "Your mastery of the winds is impressive, and equal to my own, Spiral. However I have, thus far, proved your superior in aerial maneuvers." Speaking of aerial maneuvers, Storm Owl puts his wings in front of him protectively and streaks towards Spiral, attempting to knock him back on his tushie and out of the fight!

You strike Spiral Pegasus with a minor hit from your Somersault Shell attack.

Spiral Pegasus falls to the ground, unconscious, due to massive systems damage.

Spiral Pegasus is knocked on his tushie and out of the fight! Ohnoes! He lies motionless on the ground, a little white flag unravelling itself from one of his wings. A winner is Storm Owl!

Sage stares for a moment. Fascinating. He might have to engage one of these two warriors in the air sometime. Perhaps later, more than sooner. Who knows. Sage stands up, raising his hand.

"Storm Owl progresses to Round 4 of Heavyweight Combat! Storm Owl of the Repliforce is the winner!"

Storm Owl settles back down on the ground next to Spiral, dead tired OOCly, and dead tired ICly. The Owl steps up to the pegasus and holds out his hand, offering to help the mech up. "An excellent match, Spiral. I have calculated your defensive capabilities to be within the top 95 percent of all Repliforce aerial units." He says this merely as a fact, not a compliment. Storm nods to ref... hey, is he the same one as before?

Spiral Pegasus takes the hand and stumbles back to his feet. "Yeah, good match, sir. It looks like I still have a ways to go though!"

Storm Owl inclines his head. "Indeed. Time, practice, and studying will solve that problem." Storm does think Spiral has a strong future ahead of him as long as he can keep focused on the objectives. And since everybody desperately wishes to sleep, Storm Owl floats up into the air, heading back to the Fortress V!
