Broadcasting Rooms - GNN Central
On this level of the GNN building, one can find all the
manner of equipment and stages to allow the GNN to deliver its fine quality
programming. The main area here is dominated by a singular yet curved green
desk with a blue screen behind it. That area makes up the set where the general
news broadcasts to the public are made. Off to another side one can find a
small set used for the ever-popular interviews. This area can be configured to
simply have two modern contoured chairs with the flag of the country involved
freeze framed as flowing in the wind, or can be done with a smaller, more home
style feeling with simple wooden chairs, desk, or table and a nice country
house background. This area is also used to house the various GNN field
equipment, from the cameraman’s light powerful camera, and the small
anti-gravity cameras used for emergencies, to the odd looking microphones with
the "Capcom" logo on them.

Ebony Fox arrives from the GNN Central - Offices.
Ebony Fox has arrived.
Ebony Fox just looked at Camera.
Chest and his team are currently getting ready. They're in
the interview studios, which basically contain two very comfotrable chairs and
a backdrop of a bookcase in the background. This is to make the two people look
smart, since they're surrounded by books. It's amazing how well it works, really.
Chest is sitting in his chair, on the left of the guest seating area. With his
short stature, his footpad hover-thingee doesn't even reach the ground. You'd
think he was a little kid were it not for his fierce expression. A cigar is
already lit up and in his mouth. "Five minutes to air!" Someone
shouts. Chest nods, awaiting Ebony's arrival.
Ebony Fox arrives, curtly on time. " Hello Mr. Chest.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I really appreciate it, and it's kind
of you to do so, all things considered. " She holds out hand to the
producer-hopefully, he'll accept it this time.
Chest nods and says, "We're all set now, Miss
Fox." The director comes by and says, "Alright, you two, ten seconds
to air. Make this look good." He backs out of the way and Chest prepares,
but keeps his cigar. "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four..." He
does the hand motions now. Three, two, one...
The Camera turns on.
"This is Chest, live and at the Global News Network
Studios in the beautiful city of San Angeles!" Indeed he is. Chest with
Ebony Fox. They're in the interview studios, which basically contain two very
comfortable chairs and a backdrop of a bookcase in the background. This is to
make the two people look smart, since they're surrounded by books. It's amazing
how well it works, really. Chest is sitting in his chair, on the left of the
guest seating area. With his short stature, his footpad hover-thingee doesn't
even reach the ground. You'd think he was a little kid were it not for his
fierce expression. A cigar is already lit up and in his mouth. The heavy theme
music plays, and once it concludes, Chest looks to his guest and says,
"So, Miss Fox, you have a few things you wanted to say?" He asks
pilotely, but with a smile that's just a tad too smug.
Ebony Fox nods slightly to confirm Chest's statement. She
then looks to the camera. Ebony is in her business suit attire, legs cross
politely as she sits upright in the chair. A smile, " Yes, thank you Mr.
Chest. " She begins. " As many of you know, there was a slight in
relations between INTERPOL and GNN of late. Namely due to an interview in which
the Producer of the Global News Newtork, the good Chest, was left insulted. The
cause of that is myself, Ebony Fox. " The reploid stops for a moment to
let this all sink in and the like. " I'm a member of INTERPOL's RDI
division, and had applied for the hacker position offered by the network in
hopes of finding a relationship betwen INTERPOL and GNN that would be mutually
beneficial. "
Chest leans back and steeples his fingers in that way that
interviewers do when they know they don't have a whole lot to say at the moment
about anything at all. He nods to confirm what Ebony says, idly wondering how
she's going to phrase the rest of this. Camera, who is naturally acting as,
suprise suprise, a camera, beeps a snicker at what Ebony says, but it's too
soft to be picked up on the air.
Ebony Fox looks to a new camera angle, as focus switches
from Chest and then to her once more. " INTERPOL's members, at times,
prefer anonymity in their work. This protects their family and loved ones, and
sometimes measures have been taken to keep them safe. Unfortunatly, the methods
used by myself were rather innapropriate, and I had hoped to gain legitimacy in
my actions by acquiring the hacker position. But, the deal presented was
unnaceptable. I asked Chest to compromise principles-no, basic freedoms and
liberties guaranteed to all humans, cyborgs, and reploids of the United Nations
to do so. Namely freedom of press. " Ebony frowns, " In my
carelessness, I had placed Chest in a position that to accept, he would be
forgoeing all he stood for, and making INTERPOL out to be some sort of
organization looking to control from behind the scenes. Which they are
definitly /not/. "
The camera angle once again focuses on Ebony, but it's just
to let the people at home know that, yes, he's still there and, yes, he hasn't
fallen asleep. Chest nods and allows Ebony to continue onward. He'll ask any
questions he has at the end.
Chest is the one the camera angle looks upon, that is. Not
Ebony. Although likely Ebony once again.
Ebony Fox takes a slight breath through her nostrils, not as
if she's really need it. " INTERPOL is here to protect and serve the
citizens of the UN. That evening, I forgot that. In my attempts to end the
meeting politely, I instead threatened Chest in my statements, and left him
feeling 'targeted' by an organization I had no right to represent in such a
context. " She sighs.
Chest decides it's time he gets a little bit of
clarification here. He leans in as the camera focuses on him and he says in a
surprisingly calm voice, "Now, when you say 'left me feeling I was
targetted', are you refering to where you said, and I quote, 'I can hack into
your servers anytime I want and take care of unwanted IDs on my comrades. Hire
a hacker if you will, that just means I get a fun new challenge every time,
which sounds like a lot more fun'?" Chest inquires innocently.
Ebony Fox nods, a slightly pained look on her face " I
was needlessly angry at the time, I had hoped my offer would be accepted.
Unfortunatly, I was blind to its one sidedness. " She looks from Chest to
the camera. " INTERPOL only uses such methods to deal with computer
systems in possession of those who seek to harm society as a whole, such as the
Robot Masters or Maverick held Europe. " She seems very sincere on that
point, " My innapropriate use of abilities and resources, along with my
actions not becoming of an INTERPOL Officer were punished-none of us are above
rules or regulations of any other United Nations Branch, such as Repliforce. I
have been placed on a special probation to determine the validity of a
continued career at INTERPOL, and placed at the rank of Trainee for the period.
"
Chest nods. The punishment given by INTERPOL sounds just
about right, as far as he's concerned. I mean, whenever they say 'determine the
validity of a continued career', that means she /will/ still be employed. Chest
can read through the business lines, believe me. If Ebony were to be fired,
she'd have been fired from day one rather than leaving her dangling on a line
in an employment limbo. He smiles slightly, amused at 'such methods being used
on those who seek to harm society'. "Such as hacking into our servers
prior to our meeting, deactivating our security procedures, and altering and
removing certain bits of information?" He asks.
Ebony Fox nods agian very solemnly, " Yes. The efforts
were to remove data that could possibly allow positive identification of
INTERPOL Officers in the field. In my mind, I was simply taking initiative on
my duties. In truth, I was violating the standard code of conduct expected of
all personnel in the organization. The deactivation of security procedures had
been meant to prove my abilities, but was a foolish abuse of power in hopes of
impressing Mr. Chest. "
Chest nods. He pretty much figured that the deactivating of
the security procedures was a 'proving how kickass you are' kind of thing. Ha
ha, jokes on Ebony, though, because GNN's security is as strong as a wet paper
bag! A two year old could hack their way past those servers. Heck, the Masters
do it on a regular basis! Chest decides not to bring that up, though. "Prior
to our meeting and INTERPOL giving you, ah, clarification of what you are and
are not supposed to do, have you ever messed around with GNN's files?"
Ebony Fox nods, " Once before. After the initial
Arcanum Press Release, Double made a visit to Neo Tokyo in a distraught state.
I attempted to help him as best I could-Research had showed that something was
up with the resurrections, as was later very well proven by Maverick Hunter
scientists. However, GNN Crews had gotten large amounts of footage, and I
feared my identification may garner attention from an element within Arcanum
who wished their secret to remain as such. In truth, I was being rather
paranoid and childish. " She finishes in slight 'matter of fact' tone,
nodding slightly to Chest.
Chest nods, still keeping that slightly smug smile on his
face. There's a tiny hint of 'this is what happens when you mess with GNN,
bizatch' in that expression. Just a hint. "Do you plan on hacking into
GNN's servers ever again, Miss Fox?" He inquires innocently. Naturally,
the correct answer is supposed to be 'no'. After which Ebony may continue
onward, uninterrupted by Chest's questions.
Ebony Fox shakes her head, " Of course not. INTERPOL
has nothing to hide. " She then smiles, " Unless GNN plans world
domination..." A slight chuckle. "...such actions will not be taken,
and are innapropriate methods of investigation and press relation. " The
reploid then looks agian to Chest, awaiting the next question.
Chest chuckles in that way that reporters chuckle at things
that totally aren't funny but is just designed to make them look hip, and
with-it, and not-total-loserish. Of course, it never works. Ah well. Chest
doesn't have any other questions at the moment, however, and he says, "Is
there anything else, Miss Fox?" He asks. Such as the apology itself?
Ebony Fox nods, " Mr. Chest has been gracious enough to
allow me the chance not only to apologize for my reprehensible actions in the
name of INTERPOL to Chest himself, but to you..." she looks to the camera,
" Those I am sworn to protect under ideals of freedom and basic civil
rights. I was wrong to do what I did, and would take it back in a nanosecond.
But hindsight is 20/20..." she sighs, and looks a bit downcast. " I
ask that the world, and Chest, be kind enough to accept my apology, and to
forgive me for my actions. INTERPOL is not to blame-I am. "
Chest resists the urge to fold his arms, as that'd just be
/too/ smug. He nods to what Ebony has to say and brightens up, feeling
triumphant. "Apology accepted, m'dear. Think nothing of it." He looks
back to the camera and says, "So there you have it, folks. The truth as it
stands, and everything is neatly squared away. Back to you at the
newsdesk..." He says as the image shifts to the main newsdesk where the
caster begins talking about... oh who cares, you've turned off the television
now that the good part is over.
Ebony Fox sighs in relief as the camera turns off, looking
relieved the entire thing is over. She doesn't like being watched /that/
closely, it goes agianst her programming. " Thank you Chest. " she
says softly, standing. The man may of been smug, but he still didn't have to do
this.
Chest nods and holds out his hand, standing as well. He's
likely quite a bit shorter than she is. "Thank you, m'dear. I'm glad we
managed to clear all of this up. Good luck with your career at INTERPOL. Far as
I can see it, you took the high road in dealing with what ya did. I figure we
can put this behind us."
Ebony Fox nods, " If you should be in need something of
INTERPOL, our Director would be more then willing to hear you out. Especially
after your generosity in this situation. " She accepts the hand, and
shakes it firmly.
Chest nods and gives a firm handshake as well. "Right.
And if you need anything... legal, y'know, press conferences, etc, you let me
know. A pleasure meeting you, Miss Fox. It's a shame it had to start on such a
rocky road." He puffs his cigar, clearly feeling pleased with himself.
Ebony Fox smiles widely, and nods. " Of course. Thank
you agian. " She then heads for the door...
Ebony Fox enters the San Angeles - GNN Central.
Ebony Fox has left.
