The HSTE Internship may be either paid or unpaid, depending upon the student's choice of placement.  Students must work at least 15 hours per week for one class period release time or 20 hours per week for two class periods release time.  The internship work hours do not necessarily have to be during those class periods. (For example, a student may work in the evenings or on weekends to satisfy the hours requirement for release 5th and 6th periods each day.)

Both the HSTE teacher and the worksite supervisor will share the evaluation/grading of the student.  The learning tasklists will differ somewhat, depending upon the student's internship worksite, but all internships must be in a healthcare related site.

Students must be certified through the Rome High School HSTE CNA program prior to admission into the Internship program, and they must be enrolled in HSTE Applications of Medical Terminology concurrently with the Internship.  Applications for Internship must be submitted to Mrs. Garner by the deadline announced in order to be considered for the following year.
