My Background

This font color and background are a good beginning for the story of my background. Why? I've had a green and white life! Yes, I know, you're still confused. Well, every school I've been to, K-12, have had the colors of green and white. I went to Riley Elementary School, Clark Middle School, and Lincoln High School. You can click on their names for links to their homepages.

I didn't do anything significant at Riley, except for attempt to play basketball. I found out there that, unlike my dad, I have no basketball skills. Sorry dad! ;)

It was then on to Clark. At the time, my dad was the vice-principal there and I really needed to be on good behavior. One, because everyone knew me, two, because if I did get in trouble, I would get it at school and at home. So I was a pretty well-behaved student. I was on the student council all three years and used my dad to my advantage promising pop in the lunchrooms(we didn't have that then) and allowing candy and gum in the classrooms. I obviously never delivered, but I still managed to make it on every year! My dad also came up with the slogan, "Query is not the question, Query is the answer." And yes, that still holds true today! Just remember that. :) I still was attempting to play basketball, so I tried out for the team, but only made manager. ehehe Oh well! I also ran cross-country all three years and swam on the swim team all three years and ran track for two years. It was there that I developed my passion for swimming. I also participated in band all three years playing the trombone. My 6th grade year my band teacher, Grant Daugherty, was killed in a car accident. You never realize how much you appreciate someone until they're gone. It was awful. Nevertheless, I sparked numerous friendships and learned a lot. Little did I know where I would end up in the future(we'll get to that later though).

It was then on to Lincoln. I again joined the Marching Band and cross-country team, and swim team.
With band, every year we were on a quest for going to State Finals. We never achieved that while I was there, but this past year, 2 years after I graduated, they went! You guys are awesome! Mr. Bill Marsh had been there since Mr. Grant Daugherty passed away and Mr. Mica McCray became the assistant director of the band during my senior year. Bill was not only a great teacher, but became a great friend as well. Mica, Mr. Mark Snyder, and Ms. Mary Cooper also played great roles in my development over the years. I love all of you guys!!
I ran cross country for 2 years, but was never really successful at it. I also ran track for 4 years and was never really successful at it either. I was a great practice runner, but could never seem to pull it off when it came time for meets. Can't be perfect in everything!
I was also on the swim team for 4 years. I had a pretty decent amount of success in there. My junior year I went to State with a relay team. We didn't do so well, but at least I can say I went. I'll remember that for the rest of my life. My coach, Mr. Richard Rutherford, also became a great mentor and friend over those years. Swimming was more than a sport for me, it was a release from everyday life. I would take my anger, frustration, and sadness out on that water, and it felt good. I also found that the best place to cry is while swimming. No one notices and everyone's eyes are already red from the chlorine. It works out well! I only wish my school would have built us a pool. It was in the original plans and they took it out thinking it would cost them less later. Wrong! To build it now would cost like twice as much as it would have then. So we had to swim at the YMCA, and when it closed for repairs, etc. we had to swim at Vincennes University. And when it was closed at the same time the Y was, we had to swim at a hotel! It's just too bad that we concentrate on football and basketball so much that we forget about the "underdog" sports. The same way goes for band and choir. The band recieves no aid from the school, they have to do everything themselves. I wish things like this would change.
When awards time came around, I guess I got my share. ;) In swimming, I was Most Dedicated my junior and senior years. My senior year I also received the Kiwanis Most Valuable Swimmer Award. That was awesome. In band, my senior year, I recieved the Jerry Warmuth Director's Award and Most Valuable Band Member. I also received the Grant Daugherty Memorial Scholarship award at the senior awards night. I was so happy to get that.
I graduated as a member of the National Honor Society with a 3.2 GPA and on the Honors Diploma. My next stop would be Purdue University! I was going to be a Boilermaker! So, I've now graduated from Purdue with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision and have also earned my minor in French. For extra-curricular activites I was a member of the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band and was for 5 years during the fall semesters that I was actually at Purdue. I also like to work out and run and swim and hang out with my friends (wow...sounds too much like a dating entry). I studied in Montpellier, France my Junior year and became pretty fluent in French. I returned to PU for one semester and then got called to go to war in Iraq for just over a year. I returned to Purdue in the Summer of 2004 and finally graduated as I mentioned before. Yeah, I had a few interruptions, but I still finished in 5 years of actual school! Not too shabby!
I was an intern for Pulte homes during the summer of '05 and accepted a job with them in Charlotte, NC as a Customer Relations Manager (or general kiss-ass as I like to call it). I live in SC because it's a short commute and the taxes are cheaper! I just bought a house and have a dog, Biscuit, and I hope to make more friends down here than I already have...which is not many as a matter of fact. I don't know how long I'll be here, but I hope to have many visitors!
So, there ya have it! My background!
