To All it May Concern:

There has been a lot of media and hype concerning sex offenders. I fully understand the concerns of the public with the safety of our children. My case involves yet another twist to the growing concerns of public and individual safety. For those that do not know, my daughter was taken from my home when she was only 12 days old because of the fact that my husband is a RSO (registered sex offender). It was later determined that the state had justification because he did not officially complete the psychological therapy treatment upon his release of probation and parole. But this is only part of the story; our case is growing two years old in July. (See my web site for details) Because of the gossipy “concern”, the nosey involvement and abuse of the internet registry of a church member, the trust and respect that I had developed over the years was vanished down the drain because of whom I choose to marry. I do not claim to be perfect, but I also would have never brought someone into my home if I thought for a second that they would be a threat to my self or my children. My quest is to live a life to not only fight for my rights to choose and have a family of my choice, but for other sex offenders (offenders, of certain offenses, not predators) and their families, so that they too can pick up the pieces and try to live a happy life and not be stalked by persons abusing the registry and the state taking control of their lives just because they are RSO.

My fight will be hard and long, but I have completed some of the task that I had set out to do. However, I believe that in order to fully convince everyone… that I have to have even more test and an army full of lawyers to represent my case. After a four month wait, I received a formal written document from the DFS as to what they expected from me in counseling.  I have paid for counseling as well as paid for additional testing for my husband that proves that he is NOT a pedophile through scientific testing called “Abel screening”. So, my question is why does my child have to continue to suffer the absence of her parents? Why would the same judge that married us, deem us a fate of a childless future if sex offenders were not allowed to have children or get married?

I write to you today in hopes that you can try to understand the effects that cases like this has on the children, their families and me, as a mother, going through the on going pain. Perhaps eventually the law officials will begin to understand that sex offenders needs to be categorized and that there needs to be better testing methods available, better procedures to follow, more funds available to prove that which ever party is right in “assuming” or why they want to be “cautious.” There needs to be an awareness of the internet registry and why it was intended to be there for to start with. The courts need to be aware of these precautions and exercise their power to stop this abuse. My eternal prayer is to get my children home with me, all of them. God knows how I parent; God knows my heart.

There is to be an ICPC for my daughter to be placed with my mother-in-law while they decide our fate. It is obviously my desire that my daughter be allowed to come home with her parents. A hearing is taking place on July 8, 2005 at the XXXXXXXXX County Court House in XXXXXXX, XX Is this testing enough to allow my daughter to be home with her God given parents? Or do I need an army?

Thank you for your time.
