Quick Speaker Box for a Jimmy

We also call this the Econo-System because it was way cheap to make. I made this for my friend Dereks' S-15 Jimmy. Derek just wanted a loud full range box. One day in Radio Shack on the clearance table was 4 10" woofers for 10 bucks a piece. So I called up my man Derek and asked him if it would be cool if I picked them up. He said 'yeah' so I grabbed them and started building. You can see it here in my driveway before it was covered. If you want to check out the plans for this one go here. It was built out of 1/2" plywood, and caulked with morbid black caulk. It's got 2 chambers. One for the two right speakers and one for the 2 left speakers.

Over on the right is that box covered with maroon carpet. Yeah the seams look lame. You can see the two 2" ports on the side. Inside there is some poly fill. The speaker terminals are on the back and there are four of them so that you can re-wire the speakers for different impedances without taking the speakers out.

Here we see it installed in
Dereks' truck. It doesn't look too shabby for about 65 bucks, not
including the amp. I was a little skeptical of how these speakers
were going to sound since they were only 10 bucks apiece, but
they totally surprised me. They sounded real good, not great but
good. They were loud and pretty clear unless you cranked
the tunes really loud. Then one day Derek decided to go to work
and not lock his back door so when he got out of work it was
gone. It was a total bummer.
