Divine Mercy Chinese Association


The Divine Mercy Chinese Association (DMCA) is established in 1998 as a non-profit, educational organization within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).  DMCA is dedicated to provide quality Chinese language education for the people in the San Francisco Bay Area to learn the Chinese language and culture. It admits students of any race, national and ethnic origins.

The mission of DMCA is to provide all students with a strong Chinese language program that develop language, communication, problem-solving and cooperative skills. The staff will inspire an appreciation for Chinese and other cultures, and encourage responsibility, self-esteem, and respect for others. DMCA fosters the positive interaction between teacher and students and promotes the research and development of Chinese language education.  To well prepared students with the Chinese programs offered in colleges, in addition to traditional characters of Chinese language and chuyin, simplified characters of Chinese language and pinyin are also used in instruction of higher grade level (i.e., 9th-12th grade).

The school starts with the pre-kindergarten class and goes through to 12th grade. The 2002 school year will start on Sept. 9, 2001 and end on June 9, 2002. Chinese language program currently offers 13 classes and estimated 180 students. Culture program offers 5 elective classes (e.g., .Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Drawing and Watercolor, Chinese Myth and Folk Story, Mental Arithmetic, and GO - Encirclement Chess) and estimated 80 students.

The classes are currently held at Ruskin Elementary School (1401 Turlock Lane, San Jose, CA 95132) on every Sunday Morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. for the Chinese language program and 11:20 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. for the culture elective classes.
