Broadcasting Tips |
disclaimer: I am not claiming to be an expert on this. I am just telling you things that have worked for me and others when getting into the broadcasting industry. |
1. First off, getting into broadcasting means you have to dedicated, love and plan to push yourself to the limits to get into broadcasting and to stay in the business. |
2. You have to use your creativity. It will make you excell in your job and put you in contention for other positions. |
3. Little things count. After a interview send a express mail thank you, it works. Send your contacts holiday cards etc...shows that you care. Use respect always. |
4. Internships are great. You get great experience, meet people in the business and maybe that will be your first or second job in the business. I interned at Fox 45 two years ago and through what i learned while i was gone and people I knew in the station I got the job. |
5. Its first who you know, then after you get the job what you know. |
6. Always learn more than one job. Small market stations are always downsizing or changing format sometimes without letting their employees knowing. |
7. Make sure that your significant other or your friends know the dedication that this business needs. You might work long days, stressful days, weird shifts, etc...much like a normal job, but in a lot of ways different. |
8. Have fun!!! You might not get paid the best, but you wanted to get into broadcasting because you love it and want or wanted it as a career so have fun too!!!! |
