SOLDEU REVIEW!
Date: 09/01/00
No Of Days: 7
Destination: Soldeu
Transport: Plane from Gatwick.
Well my snowboarding experience started here. It was Sunday 9th of January when we flew out to Geneva airport and then caught the coach to Soldeu. We went with a company called Top Deck who were excellent. When we started to travel further and further into the mountains on the coach I soon relised this was the most snow I had ever seen! It was amazing but somehow dodgy how the coach could keep to the road and not slide over the edge. Four of us went me (Dan Brown), Bolt-Eyes, Dan Turner and Chris Price. Bolt-Eyes and Dan Turner had skied before but for me and Chris it was the first ever attempt to snowboard. Well we finally got to our Hotel which was a small one just on the outskirts of the slopes. Dan T and Chris had there room in sort of a loft (where Chris says he saw a ghost!) and me and bolt-eyes had a room downstairs. We arrived late so the first thing we did was check the bars which were superb. The next day was the first on the slopes, snowboarding was so difficult but me and chris finally picked it up after bout the 4th day. Dan T and bolt-eyes went back to skis.
SLOPES
8 OUT OF 10
The slopes at Soldeu were perfect for beginners and Intermediates. There were many different slopes and most were beautiful with trees either side. The slopes never got too busy and the lifts never really had long queus.
The slopes also had many restaurants and also a half pipe. The snow conditions when we went were ok but a little icy in places.

Now this is where Soldeu really excelled itself. Every night me and the lads went to the Picadilly bar just up the road from our Hotel which was excellent. The atmosphere was out of this world and the people friendly. Me Dan and Chris were drinking vodka red bull and tequilla at real cheap prices and getting completly ruined. One nite we even did kareoke singing 'three lions'. There were also many other pubs like the Aspen bar which was ok, it had sega rally in it which provided a few laughs. In Soldeu you really felt safe. The people were so friendly there probably as it is run by english people. In Soldeu they certainly know how to party. There were also just as many women as there were men (rare). Also worth a mention is with Top Deck we had a bloke called Dodgy Dave who made a video of us all on the slopes and in the bars ruined, you can buy his video at the end of the holiday. Great to show your friends.
GENERAL ATMOSPHERE

They always say that your first snow holiday is your best one, i dunno, but what i do know is that this was the holiday that got me hooked on snowboarding and winter holidays in general. The atmosphere was just so good and the slopes were fun. Dunno what it would be like now I'm more experienced but for first timers this is a must! cheap drinks and nice slopes!
