Destination: Flaine
No of days: 7
Transport: Car (12 hours!)
FLAINE (FRANCE)
Yet another first for Bolt-Eyes holidays, the first time we drove to a destination. It took 12 hours which I thought went real quick, went through the tunnel then straight to Flaine. The travel was ok, listened to minidisk whole way with numerous punk tracks blazing in my ears. This holiday was more of a family one so I knew it wouldn't be the usual pissed up free for all. My family went with my mums sisters family which included Lloyd Roberts my cousin (I'm sure you have seen him in many of the pics from other holidays) so it would be mainly me and Lloyd partying.  We departed at Fri 17th of Jan and got there on the afternoon of Sat 18th.
When we first got there we wasn't too impressed, the food places were crap and expensive, the snow was ok when we first got there but we wanted more...and boy we got more!

SLOPES
We were very impressed with the slopes. They were more difficult then we had experienced before but because there was so much snow (most snow ever seen!) it made it lovely! There were many slopes to choose from all of different difficulty levels.
The only thing that stops Flaine getting a higher mark was the fact that the board park was only opened 2 of the days we were there because of too much snow. This only bothered me a little because I wasn't too good on the board park but Lloyd was furious, he lives for the extreme jumps! The visability was also real poor on a couple of the days you literally couldn't see a thing! it was well dangerous.
The first day on the slopes I thought I had broke my cocyix. I fell so hard on my arse it killed, had a big purple bruise for the rest of the week. Lloyd graised all his back when doing a jump as he didn't tuck himself in.
Other funny things that happened were...Well this one could have been bad! We were on the board park and Lloyd done a jump, he then sat down right behind the jump! (bad news) Suddenly some french boarder came flying over the top and missed Lloyd by about an inch! He then went mad at Lloyd giving all foreign jip which was funny 'cause we didn't even know what the prick was saying. Some of the drag lifts were a real challenge me and Lloyd came off a few times.

APRES SKI
The apres ski at Flaine was OK. It had one main club which would have been good if it got busier. The prices were extremely expensive and me and Lloyd found ourselves buying as many drinks in happy hour as we could. The club got busy one night though which was real good. Flaine also had a few fun pubs, one was called The Flying Dutchman, this one was well mad the first day we got there. The french were dancing like maniacs, it was packed. One women went flying into Lloyd and smashed a glass! Sadly this was the only night that the flying dutchman was lively. Flaine had many restaurants all of which were expensive, it had a pizza place which was OK. It also had a cinema which was good and a swimming pool which was crap because you wern't allowed swimming shorts only pants (Come on we are not living in the 70's now!). Me and Lloyd thought we had found 'dirty dirty night' one day. We saw a poster, and got all excited when suddenly we looked closer and it was bloody blokes dressed up! idiots.
Me and Lloyd found ourselves drinking loads before going out which we bought from the local Spar shop. Jim Brown didn't join us on many of our drinking experiences probably as it was a family holiday.
Went to a restaurant one of the days and tried Snail it was OK I suppose.

GENERAL ATMOSPHERE
The general atmosphere of Flaine was good, but it would have been better with more of us drinking types and if the French wern't so rude towards the English. We couldn't of got better snow it was perfect! With more pubs and cheaper prices it would have been better. There was places for sledging which was fun and also tools to tighten up snowboarding bindings. In all it was a good holiday.
