The Dave Matthews Band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in early 1991. Vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some of his songs on tape. Instead of recording solo, Dave found assistance in drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. Both, at the time, were local jazz musicians in the Charlottesville area. Based on the recommendation of distinguished local jazz guru John D'earth, 16-year-old Stefan Lessard came on the scene to play bass. Peter Griesar, who joined the band as a keyboard player. left the band after a couple of years. The talented and classically trained Boyd Tinsley, too, became part of the gang.

On Feburary 27, 2001 Everyday will be released on an R.C.A. record label. But the album did have its problems on its way to be recorded. At first, Everyday was planned to be released around Christmas of 2000, but the album was not going well, so the whole deal was scratched. So the band went to West Hollywood California to begin recording on the new, new cd. R.C.A. had suggested that Dave meet a new producer called Glenn Ballard, who is from Natchez, Miss. Glenn who is also a song writer and musician has worked with Micheal Jackson, Alanis Morissette, and Aerosmith, just to name a few. And Dave loved him. While the band had only 9 days alloted to record their music, Glenn thought they would only finish 2 maybe 3 songs. But to the bands surprise, they were able to record 10 songs in 9 days. Both Carter and Leroi agree that this is the best CD yet. Carter attributes this success to the fact that "...not only are we treated as a good band, but we're also treated as good musicians."
As you can see Dave Matthews and the rest of the band put alot into thier music. They love doing this so much. A very good quote by Dave given on 60 Minutes II is "We have something really magical to give" and they really do have some magic in their music. Dave fells that he has been truley lucky to have gotten this far, and says that he his very blessed...
