I am currently employed as a Security Specialist in a youth residential facility for a non-profit organization, Heartland Alliance.
I have worked for Heartland Alliance since September 2013. Previously, I served over seas in the military,
where I was able to experience first hand the hardships that children across the world face,
and that is why I have a passion for advocating and working with youth.With my degree,
I hope to continue working as an advocate for children/youth. I plan to work in the judicial service field, such as a probation officer.
My short term goal, is to get promoted at my current position within Heartland Alliance by becoming a Youth Care Worker III,
where I will be able to lead and train new staff. Eventually, I would like to move up within this department and become a program manager.
I have attended two different colleges in order to achieve my education and career goals,
I am 14 credits short of obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology
with a minor in Child Advocacy Studies. I have attached links to the schools that I have attended (College of Lake County and Northeastern Illinois University) at the bottom of the page.

Personal Interests:
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and volunteering my time to help my community. However, when time is need to myself for self-care,
I enjoy riding my motorcycle, watching baseball, or sitting by the fire pit.
My family consists of:
A loving wife, Dora.
Two beautiful daughters, Isabella and Liliana.
A loyal dog, Dixie.

Languages Spoken:
I speak English fluently, as it is my first language. I am also able to speak spanish conversationally. I have taken courses to help teach me spanish and I also have family members that speak it as their native language.

Technology:
I am proficient in Microsoft Word, Power-point, and Outlook.
I have some experience with Microsoft Excel and SPSS.
