Four Step Approach - Part 2 |

Step 3: The third step is taken with the ball-side foot, as shown below. The ball continues to swing back. At the end of the third step, the ball should be at its highest point in the back swing.
Let the ball swing back comfortably without forcing, or pulling, the ball higher than it should. Pulling the ball back excessively can cause many problems including over rotation of the shoulders and creating balance problems. |

Step 4: During the fourth step, the non-ball side foot enters the slide and the ball swings forward, as shown below. The ball side leg will begin to move over and behind the slide leg making a clear path for the ball as shown in the bottom diagram. The ball will be released at the lowest point of the swing which should be at or slightly behind the ankle. |

Follow through: After completing the release, the arm should continue toward the target and then upward to where the hand is at least head high, as shown below. The ball-side leg will kick over behind the slide leg with the toes preferably on the ground to aid in support and balance. Hold this balanced position until the ball hits the pins. |
