This page details the hardware installation that I used to carry on my project. I will explain as simply as possible and I hope my ideas will inspire someoneto improve on it and build a better in-car computer system.
Bought an X-10 wireless camera system off ebay today. I intend to build a rearview camera system to use in the truck. My previous system consisted of a usb camera ( Logitech Quiickcam ) however the resolution left a lot to be desired. - March 8, 2002
I have bought a Jensen KVM-64 (6.4 in.) lcd monitor . This I intend to use with the camera to view images . Future plans include connecting it to a DVD player in the car. - April 14, 2002
I just got through installing the camera and putting the lcd monitor on my dashboard. My plans require that all removal parts of the system (parts that could be stolen easily) should be able to disconnect easily so that I may be able to take said items out at the end of the day. I pity anyone who tries to steal my factory radio. This thing requires the removal of the whole dashboard just to get it out and unles a thief has enough time and enery he would be wasting his time. I took me 3 hours just to unscrew the dash because I want all wires ti be hidden. Pictures and more in depth details coming soon. - July 21, 2002 P.S. The camera works great (during the day that is). At night when there is very low lighting I do not see a thing. I am contemplating adding a night vision camer.
Today I added a piece of crap DVD player. I do have plans to change it in the NEAR future. I just don't know when. Now I have to find a method to share a monitor between various sources. This process is getting more interesting everyday. - October 3, 2002
