Danielle L. Robinson
Biography

Danielle L. Robinson is currently working to obtain her Masters of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in ceramics and a minor in painting at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas with the intention of obtaining a teaching position at a post-secondary level after graduation. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree as well as a Bachelor of Pshychology from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

Danielle grew up in Walnut, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Immensely influenced by the landscape of her native state of California, Danielle feels "The ocean carries tremendous power, it can embody destruction as well as a surreal calm." Danielle takes pleasure in introducing elements of rhythm, contrasting textures, and allowing the material to be eminent. Long walks on the beach, collecting gifts from the sea including shells, rocks, bones and driftwood reenergieze her artistic inspiration.

She was given the opportunity to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University through an athletic scholarship. Danielle's transition from urban to rural life was a life altering experience.  Her impression of the rural people's kindness in the smaller community was that individuals are less self-centered, more community oriented, take time for friendship and daily acts of courtesy, values she has adopted into her own life. The vast spaces of Oklahoma appeared to contribute to the openness of peoples' attiitudes and their relationships to each other. These impressions fueled artwork that explored the differences and similarities in the landscapes of her native California and her adopted home in the Midwest resulting in her senior exhibition, "Cali-Homa."
