CRITIQUE OF RESEARCH ARTICLES

ABSTRACT

A total of twelve articles were chosen to form the basis of a research critique format assignment. There were two criteria used in determining which articles would be included. First, the article had to address an educational issue, preferably one related to information technology. Second, the articles, taken as a whole, needed to illustrate a variety of quantitative and qualitative designs. It is important to note, however, that the format used to critique the articles was more appropriate for qualitative-based studies. The topics included: hypertext navigation, using computers for training, changing teachers' beliefs, computerized adaptive testing, web engineering, and team teaching. Each critique offers a brief summary of the study and includes questions dealing with topics such as the hypotheses, literature review, research design, analysis, and suggestions for future research. The purpose of the assignment was to become familiar with the analysis of already published studies that may, in the future, be used in comp and/or dissertation research.
