Lips, Where's Your Car? My beloved auto, The LipsMobile, took its last ride in the last days of 2002. The 1974 Chevy Impala was sold to my dad by a family member, Morris Erickson, in Twin Valley, Minnesota in 1975. I bought it from my mother and drove it to Houston in 1993, where I lived at the time. The LipsMobile paraded in the Houston Art Car Parade for several years, solo, as well as pulling our band, Lips & The Trips, on a flatbed truck, even after I moved here to New Orleans, its final resting place. The last paint job was done by my friends, Houston artists, Carolyn & Mitch Cohen, Artists-at-Large. Facing an expensive transmission overhaul and a rusted-out frame, I have had to place The LipsMobile in permanent retirement. Thank you, Friends and Fans of The LipsMobile who have shown so much love to my beloved auto over the years. The LipsMobile is smiling down upon you now. If you or anyone you know would like a piece of the car, please e-mail me here. R.I.P. The LipsMobile P.S. As soon as I get my next-door neighbor out of jail, we will put the film of the LipsMobile going to ValHalla off the Jackson Avenue Pier into the Mississippi River |
